If GTA IV is a modified, upgraded version of previous GTA engines, I wonder how many old mods are transferable...

 

 

Then again who knows if GTA3.img exists anymore

It's a new engine, so graphics wise i guess there will be important differences, like maybe the 3d model formats and stuff like that

 

Config files though, seem pretty similar, even some have the same name as far as i know (handling.dat, carcols.dat, default.ide...)

 

We'll know soon enough smile.gif

The weather in GTA4 looks so too f*cking amazing!

So I hope there comes a RealTime clock and a menu wich weather you want.

Like in Spaceeinstein's All in One mod!

And maybe SPYFAN makes a GTA Snow IV, like GTA Snow Andreas.

Only that 2 and im happy! tounge.gif

I read some ppl have open the cosole version.

So they determined there are .dat files, am I right?

If yes, then comes Exchanced 4x4 handling mods and others.

But..still..we have to waith for the PC version.

At first, if anything, it will be CFG changes, then maybe moving on to texture changes. Could take a while before it is fully moddable. Either GTAIII in Euporia or GTAIV's LC converted to SA would be quite funny.

Yeah, the weather definitely needs a few more configurations, and draw distance should be shortened on a few (you shouldn't be able to see alderney from broker at night or when foggy).

For one, this is a whole new engine which we have to crack open. Who knows how long it will take, or even if it is possible to get in to the game's files. Not only that, but we will have to worry about going into MP with mods, and f*cking everything up. Also, with this being a more highly detailed GTA, that means we are going to need more highly detailed models, which will set back mods a few months to create higher quality mods (such as cars, boats, helis, and guns).

 

So, if we see any mods, it will be awhile.

Lol, not really. High-poly models are already planned to be placed in GTAIV; mods such as Gostown will release betas as soon as one month after the release.

A lot of mods for SA are allready very high poly, they just need some mapping and damage changes to go into IV.

There are plenty of 100k poly cars out there allready, I have made personally guns that are 7-30k polies that are in SA allready.

Polies won't be the issue, it will be the proper use of them that will. Thousands of polies don't make a mod good, not wasting a single one deos.

What do you think , it is gonna be difficult to mod cars cause on the damage system? I think it is gonna be, but it is gonna be possible. Its just about of time.

Existing cars will be one of the first things to mod, basic modding (textures, handling etc). The damage system is engine stuff. Whole new vehicle could be problematic.

I think it wouldnt be even difficult without unique damage system. But, you are right, handlingmods and textures is gonna be first mods. And im sure WTC Mod, and plane mods are gonna be first mods.

Cmon now, if they can't even stop us on a closed-source piece of hardware which they control with a death grip, how in the world are they going to stop modding on the PC version?

 

I doubt they ever intended to try and stop us, just saying that they couldn't even if they tried.

I hope that we can create new animations and behaviours via (Endorphin).. smile.gif

 

I have a plan in place to create a complex set of animations for killing peds. Nothing more..! devil.gif

 

I personally get fed up with the limited and repetative mundane ways of dispatching the AI, so I have this mod in mind

that will allow players the proper freedom to kill and erase Peds as they see fit. Im not gonna pull any punches with the methods I have come up with either, sly.gif just that it will be pretty gruesome..

 

Some of the ideas thus far. crazzy s**t..! devil.gif

 

1. High pressure air injector.. Injects a self inflating micro-bladder causing the ped to blow up like a balloon and pop..!

2. Simple garote.. Aproaching ped from behind and dragging them to an alleyway for dispatch..

3. Tazer.. High voltage electric shock. Could have some real fun with behaviours here. LoL..

4. Westlers Moves.. Using nasty back breaking dives and trips on peds..

5. Grab, Maneuver, throw.. I want to choose where I throw the ped and how..

6. Influence pedestrians. Controling peds with a mind control device. Make em go nuts or something.

7. Better begging and pleading for life. Pedestrians behaviour as they are being assaulted could be vastly improved.

 

A ton of others I wont post here..

 

If we can mod this game right down to behaviours I will be in heaven. I havent tackled a large mod since my last one, which was the Original "Illumination Within" for Oblivion..AKA (Slap)..Me.. tounge.gif

Wow! I knew there was a handling.ide in the GTA4 iso, and I had wondered if editing it and re-exporting the disc would work. This video seems to confirm that is precisely possible.

 

Nobody that has ever modded could have ever seriously doubted whether or not modding configuration/script files would be possible. Though whether or not we have to install two separate copies if we plan to both mod and play on cheat-proof servers is still an issue.

IMO:The solution to modding+online problem should be handled like the Unreal Tournament games.

 

For reference:You had a menu which allowed you to activate and deactivate mods at will. Whenever you connected to a server, only the mods that are currently in use on the server are activated, if you don't have it you automatically downloaded it.

Any anyone else notice how when he shot cars his bullets pushed them back? Hmm... Bullets are solid objects that have to obey the laws of physics (even if they are modded) in this gam...

 

Would a slow motion-bullet dodge mod be possible you think?

GTA bullets certainly don't obey the laws of physics. There is no gravity parabola and bullets simply cease to exist after a certain distance.

 

And I could not see that happening... though I could see a slow motion mode being implemented for on-foot action, seeing as how there is one for driving already.

I just noticed that when the bullets hit the cars they went flying backwards, and figured that had something to do with physics.

 

As for slow motion, I meant that I was hoping there would be a way to slow down the speed at which bullets themselves travel, so you could "dodge" them by running to the left/right.

Is there an airport in IV? If it is one, I'll make one and put some planes....and yes, someone's gonna make the WTC for sure....I wanna make a nice Hydra-like plane or my favorite kiddie-plane: yes, the Dodo coming back to IV!

Can some guys make an elevator mod for the buildings that are accessible, it would be cool too if you could add a time clock for the elevator and at certain times of the week, time, and day the elevator would get stuck and the FDLC would respond and get the person out, (INCLUDING YOU) that would be so cool and realistic.

 

Also if you could add more interiors to the game that be cool

Mods that I'll be looking for in GTAIV? Quality weapon models from GRIM hopefully(Although R* finally did some effort to model the weapons a bit more detailed & realistic), some 'HD' cars from OnePiece (He was already planning to make his 'HD' cars for GTAIV), maybe some detailed character skins ...

Also Could there be a mod where: the gas stations are usable, festivals happen in Middle, and Meadows Park like in NYC, and some Fire, Paramedic, and Taxi missions like the past GTA titles.

Also a digital speedometer with the same letter font as the original GTA IV HUD, and make Firefly Island active. AS YOU CAN SEE I'M A SCRIPT NUT lol inlove.gif
