'Monster' washes up in America

Recommended Posts

I couldn't find anything showing this posted before, if I'm blind and it has I do apologize. Anyways, I came across this story earlier:

NEW YORK -- Is it real or just a legend? That's what many are asking after the corpse of a bizarre-looking creature with a dinosaur beak washed up on a Long Island shore this week.

A tipster told Gawker.com that there is "a government animal testing facility very close by" where the creature washed ashore, but government biologists contacted by Hamptons-based Web site Plum said after looking at the pictures that "no such creature exists," according to Gawker.

The woman who took the photo of the creature's corpse on the shore along with two others who claim to have seen the "Montauk Monster" will appear on Plum's Web show to discuss the sighting.

While neighboring towns are abuzz with the talk of the creature -- is it a sea turtle? a rodent? a dog? -- no one knows for sure.

Those who claim to have seen it told Newsday they were "shocked and amazed."

And if it were a real animal, one county executive said, it could make some money as an attraction.

Source

Discuss.

I personally think it could be real, you never know wtf the government is up to these days. However, the source does say it could possibly be a viral marketing stunt to promote a new cartoon show. I remain skeptical.

sh*t, I'm sold. I wanna know more about this, because it looks awesome. Like a dog, chicken, pig, and some aquatic creature fused together. Yuk...

It looks too good to be photoshopped. So I'm guessing it is real. The question is...can a dog have sex with a sea turtle? I'll let you guys answer that.

It's probably a publicity stunt. Reminds me of the Fiji Mermaid.

I seriously doubt that it's real, but it would be foolish to think that man knows all there is to know about nature.

It's a dead dog.

Same thread popped up at Something Awful. Someone over there proved it with canine skull overlays.

Nothing to see here.

Well if it's real, can some f*cking scientist dissect it to see what it is? Have those retards just left it there for some black vans with suspicious looking suits to take it away? lol.gif

But seriously, what's happened to it, and when's this story come in. I can go to Long Island now to scope it out if it's still there.

That said, I'm sure it's a big dead hairless dog of sorts. The 'beak' is probably just it's broken-off. If it's anything to do with secret government research, it would never have found it's way out of the facility (if there even is one in NYC, which I highly doubt), even when our president is as intellectual as Bush.

Animal guy Jeff Corwin went on Fox News this morning and said this was......"an incredibly rare, racoon. Or maybe a dog." The anchorwoman didn't buy it.

Check It. Now I'm even more confused, skeptical, and interested.

Or maybe it is a cross-breed of a dog and a raccoon.

Lt. Dan

It is part of a viral marketing campaign for a movie called The Montauk Project.

It is based on the popular urban legend of odd government experiments at the military base in Montauk, Long Island

That's what I'm wondering. I'd love to see a picture of a live dog that looks like that.

Unless there are large, carnivorous animals in the waters. I was camping at the beach last summer. Kayakers had gone missing during a tropical storm/hurricane that plagued us at the beginning of the week (don't ask why my family decided to go camping in a hurricane, they are insane), and well a portion of one of their bodies washed up that week on the beach right in front of one of my friends. He took pictures, and it was definitely a rather fresh portion of a human torso. The state park rangers took it away to give to the local police before I saw it for myself though. Creepy.
