The Unvirginiser
I think we need a place for us writers to congregate and talk, in order to create and even stronger community feel. A la Writer's Ideas; but not so much geared towards a focused topic. Who's with me? Now there's an idea! We all love each other here, some in a more homosexual way than others... but anyway. This topic can be like the official forum stoners, because basically they all just talk about bullsh*t and get to know each other. Writer's Discussion is a very unique forum, the few of us who frequently visit have all become very good friends and, as I've noticed, stick up for each other in different parts of the forum So, A point I want to bring up, does anybody else have a sleep disorder like me? I can never sleep at night, my mind is way too active and I can never calm down to get rest until im exauhsted. And a lot of you seem to be awake late as well as me, what gives? That's the only time I can ever write properly too Edited July 23, 2008 by The Unvirginiser
Waddy
Im gona give this topic a trial. If I see spam or crap ill just lock it, no complaints, no nothing. It will just be locked. Im watching.
The Unvirginiser
Thank you Waddy! I knew you could be aroused by reasoning... I mean.. uh.. Anyway... maybe my first post was mis-leading... let's discuss.. writing! So, take the drama to the other topics, I'm not hesitating to report anybody... So, the sleep thing? Anybody else have trouble sleeping? Does everybody else only write at night?
Danni
Hey, I'm Danni, and I'm from Richmond, Indiana. I haven't written anything in a long time, but I plan on writing a script and a few short stories soon. I like the night, and I think up a lot of story ideas late in the day. Struff Bunstridge
Good. If stoners get a dedicated thread, which they can request to be locked on a certain page and then start a new one, aspiring writers definitely deserve one. I'm Mark, originally from London but now living in Nottingham. I don't sleep much, but unfortunately I have a 9-5 type job, so I have to sleep at night. Given the choice, I'd reverse my sleep cycle. I used to be a cocktail waiter, and waking up at 5pm to eat and go to work was awesome. As far as writing goes, the last two short stories I wrote were done in feverish bursts during lulls at the office; about fifteen minutes for each one. The Diary was mostly written at home, while my girlfriend was working abroad on some yacht for a couple of weeks, so I had no distractions. Damo.
Good to see this topic was given a chance. Anyway, I'm Damon from Limerick in Ireland. It's a complete sh*thole, nicknamed "Stab City." And I have that sleep thing too. On a normal day, I'd get up at 12pm and go to sleep at 3am. And I can only write after 11pm. Edited July 23, 2008 by Damo. Ronmar The Only
Seems as if everyone is introducing themselves first. Me? Tyler from Knoxville, Tennessee. Personally, I enjoy sleep but do find it hard to reach at night. I normally toss and turn thinking about a variety of things, whether it be a story, life, or others. Generally, I try and cut off writing (no matter what it is) at like 10:00 or 10:30 for I start to lose focus. Spelling errors and messed-up thoughts take over. Also, I find that I write well whenever I am angry over something, sometimes. Vercetti21
Tim, and I hail from sh*tty ol' Dallas, Texas. Lived here all of my life, and if you've talked to me about it before, you'll know how much I hate this state. Currently I am working a lot so I can save money to move away to University after I graduate, and in the meantime I'm with my friends or girlfriend, so I usually don't have a lot of time for writing unless it is, well... late at night. I'm only a slight insomniac. I can sleep just fine for the most part, but every few months or so I'll have about a week where I can't sleep at night. Writing definitely helps me tire my eyes, but then I get so in to what I'm writing that I don't want to stop and go to bed.
poikly
I'm Steven, from Liverpool. I am one of the youngest writers here, being 14. I haven't written anything in a while, so suggestions will be good! I love action/thriller novels like James Bond. I have written 2 full stories here which suck, but hey, I was around 13. I usually get my story ideas from TV shows or video games. I have improved at writing since 2007 but haven't got any stories in the pipeline. For those who care, Half-Life: Decalculation is not discontinued and will make a return in August after a 5-month hiatus! And a little fact for you all: One of my stories, The Story Of Hell, was based on an idea I had when I was 9. I planned 5 installments of the series; the first one being finished but sucking badly; a second, still waiting to be made and a remake which only has a prologue. The remake can be found here: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?act=ST&...=0#entry3976318 Don't ask why I put it there.
Oblivionz
I guess there's no harm in giving this a shot, and I think it's a pretty cool idea. I can see it turning into a huge spamfest just to get a few free posts because WD is so slow, but other than that I like it. Cubanwhip and Oxidizer each have three day temporary bans, so I don't know what they'll have to say about it. Anyway, I'm Luke. I'm from Allendale, a fairly small town in Michigan. I've always been a big writer, but most of the things I write aren't shown everywhere, since I do it for fun and not for everyone else to read. The two things I have posted on here were basically because people told me to. Oxidizer, Cubanwhip, and Masterkraft are really the only people I do talk to from Writer's Discussion outside of here, and give a damn about. Other than that, yeah. I don't mind talking to other people from here though. Hit me up on MSN sometime, yeah? <

Struff Bunstridge
What's with the temp bans? It doesn't have to be a spamfest, I think it'd be nice to have somewhere to discuss stuff. I'm trying to get a group project off the ground with a couple of dudes, but my laptop's down, I can't use MSN at work, and PMs are useless for discussions. Deuce Deuce
So, the sleep thing? Anybody else have trouble sleeping? Does everybody else only write at night? I can't account for 'writing' at night since I don't get involved with this sort of stuff (though maybe I should), but I definitely suffer from sleeping issues. I'll always wake up mid-afternoon whatever time I decide to clock in - whether it's in the early hours of the morning or late hours of the previous night. It kills my days. Wow. Did I really make a post in Writer's Discussion?

Struff Bunstridge
Never heard of them, although Google threw up a nice recipe for bread and butter pudding with bourbon sauce. What a pair of divvies. I'm thinking of trying to set up some sort of workshop for story ideas, if anyone's interested. Seems like there are only really four types of writing at the moment: fanfics/scripts, mafia stories, horror/gross-out thrillers, and war. Oh, and some fairly disturbingly pornographic stuff. I'd like to see more variance in the themes and plots of stories, however short they might be, and there's only really Ronmar's The French Way that breaks this mould. I think it'd be fun for me and others to try our hands at the kind of pieces we wouldn't normally write, maybe in the form of assignments? Might be a complete waste of time, but any thoughts? The Unvirginiser
I've had exactly the same thought mate! Like, we can set a story, parameters, characters, and people have to volounteer to write it...
Struff Bunstridge
Yeah, that's it. I just think more attention needs to be paid to what stories already exist on the forums before starting a new project; seeing the good stuff that's already around (by various authors), I'd rather see more diversity, as opposed to less good versions of already successful works. Ronmar's and Stefan's stories are pretty different, but that's about it. I'm stumped for ideas as my brain's been elsewhere for the last few weeks, but if a few people got their heads together, I can't see anything but good coming of it. Gabriel Constantin
I'm glad to see this topic is being given a trial run. I think it will be very useful at reducing the off-topic conversations in other threads. I guess I better introduce myself, even one else has: The name's Kaden (yes, that is my real name). I'm eighteen years-old and live in England. I write mainly because I'm a creative person and enjoy telling a story (I also draw, play drums, sing and write songs). The two biggest interests in my life right now are horror movies and punk rock. I often find myself up till 3:00AM, and that's when I'll be stricken by a case of good ideas. My greatest work comes out after midnight. I'm like the writing vampire, so to speak. I like the ideas that are being passed around here. I'd like to see a variety in the number of themes covered too; but I hardly write anything these days. And when I do, it tends to be the same old same old. Carbine23
Good god you did it Univirginiser. Well at least since Waddy is seeing how this goes, and hopefully it won't get SPAMMED up. I also give credit to Gabriel for thinking up the idea. I have an MSN (instant messaging) account and i guess i wouldn't mind talking to some writers people. I don't even talk to any GTAForumers outside of GTAForums.

Pat
Dang, three day bans They're lucky they weren't permanently banned. They spammed both WD and the Z chat topic with pictures of a dick on a piece of buttered bread. I don't care for them some of the time (they can be cool when they want to be), but I'm glad (and honestly amazed) that they'll still be able to post here in the near future. Rant
Well, I actually don't post here, well, one time I did but no one ever gave me feedback and I decided against posting here, so I have just been lurking. My name is Alex Ramirez and I'm 23. I just graduated college this year and I'm a local journalist in West Palm Beach, Florida. I tend to write a lot, seeing as I am writing anyways, but keep it to myself, usually in notebooks and sheets of paper. I play guitar and write, and that's how I usually spend time when I'm not somewhere around town in the libraries doing research for my next article. Carbine23
Oh yeah, i forgot to introduce myself. The names Evan, 15, and i'm from New York. I live pretty close to New York City but i'm in the suburban parts. I like video games, learning about history, baseball, basketball etc. I'm kind of skinny (fast-metabolism and such) and a little weak but i'm starting to exercise this summer with weights. Haven't had a girlfriend but it's a little hard for my kind where i live. I'm the nice guy and all the girls like the assholes who will just f*ck them and not love them. I write things, but not in my notebook. Usually when i think of a good idea for this forum, i type it up on microsoft word. Oh yeah if anybody wants to give me their Xbox Live gamertag then i'd be glad to. I mostly play at night though because i'm either on my labtop during the day, outside or hanging out with friends.
