Sheeno
I was wondering if it has ever been considered to have sub-forums for each console in Gaming Chat? I feel it would encourage people to post more pertinent and concise topics in each forum, which would in turn aid constructive discussion. Much more discussion could take place regarding, as a few examples: speculation on upcoming games, discussion of the consoles themselves, discussion of the games themselves and the set-up of multiplayer matches. If we were to have these sub-forums, I believe that appropriate labels would be: PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PC and Handheld Gaming. I see only two problems in my idea. One is that it would be a fairly big change, and change is often not a good thing. The Official Topics for each respective console would have to be removed, for example. The other problem is that if a game was multi-console, there may have to be multiple topics, one for each console. This may cause confusion and therefore may not be received too well. Thanks for reading. Sorry if I'm wasting your time.
jelly
It's worked fine for almost 7 years, why now? This is GTAForums, we have enough off-topic forums as it is in my opinion.
Raindancer
The main role of GTAForums is to talk about all things GTA, granted we have a few non-GTA discussion areas. But the goal of this site has always been to be a knowledge base for all things GTA. While gaming chat is a good attention grabber when not discussing GTA, I don't think it would be worth splitting gaming chat into 35,000 sub forums. As Jallar said, it has worked well for seven years.
Girish
I agree with both jallar and Raindancer. I see no point in having 3 sub-forums for Gaming Chat when it has been doing fine for so many years. Besides, we have official topics dedicated to PS3, XBOX and PC. Also, there are many games that are released for all 3 platforms. There's no point in having seperate topics for these games in seperate forums all discussing the same game. One forum for all non-GTA related gaming chat is sufficient and that's exactly what we have.
Mainland Marauder
Sorry to pile on here against a simple idea/suggestion, but the Gaming Chat section - while not dead by any means - really isn't active enough to warrant breaking it up even if there was any inclination on the part of the staff to add any subforums. And if they did, then what? Break up Tech and PC Chat for Windows, Mac and Linux users? The Movie Chat for action, comedy, horror etc.? Where would we stop? Not to mention that this wouldn't make GTAF any easier to moderate with all the extra subforums. Gaming Chat is just where Forumers talk about games that aren't GTA. jllr + RD + girishb = correct.
