regggie noble
how do the best players, in terms of deathmatch be so good i got matched up with the #1 guy in the world once and i private chatted him for tips he said the only tips he can give me was to tap the trigger, crouch and go for headshots i mean its pretty simple to me, and i would say im decent i play autoaim games only because disabled autoaim is too frustrating what i do is i lock on and nudge the right analog stick a bit up for a headshot, which im sure is what everybody does but then what makes some players better than others some players i played against shoot two bullets every time, and its always a kill because ones a headshot and the other how do you get accuracy like that, with auto-aim? Celtic_Assasinz
Just out of curiosity, who was the guy you were playing and chatting to? Yeah there's no other tips about how to be good. There should be some money lost in GTA for dying, such as you lose $50 for each death. But yeah remember that staying alive is always better than dying. Also remember that when someone respawns they are invulnerable to any attack for about 5 seconds. So if you see someone respawn near you, try to run or hide, or just not attack them for 5 seconds. The main thing to remember is to crouch, especially when blips are off or on team etc. As you don't get the big ID display above your head. So you're harder to notice. SuperJude™
It's 3 seconds and I wouldn't point that out if it weren't crucial in some gun battles. I wasn't being a prick either, I truly meant you need to practice. These guys are that good because they've played hundreds or thousands of games, you just a sense of when to headshot before somebody is in AA range and if they are, it's all about timing, getting that headshot before they do unless they're n00bs. GTA_Loco
Learning how to hide and arming yourself to the teeth first before you fight can give you a lot of advantages. Remember that your opponents are in AA so your chances of getting wasted quickly is high. Headshot is a good idea but only if you have enough chance to do so. You don't know what your opponent's weapon is and you might be blasted away easily by an RPG or grenade, or your opponent might be using a sniper rifle. But if you have to resort to a headshot then, turn AA off and practice a good manual aiming. Sometimes you have to be wily too; hit the ones that have taken damages already when you plunge into a gunfight.
SuperJude™
Headshot is a good idea but only if you have enough chance to do so. No. Headshots are the ONLY way to go. Not sure what your point is but if the other player has an RPG, a headshot solves that problem a lot quicker than randomly locking on AA and targeting the body. Don't give bad advice dude. Fact is, get good at headshots and it will vastly improve your game. The ONLY time I don't go for headshots is if their head isn't exposed and I have to go for the legs. tj11
Well I'm not sure if you're on PSN or not, so I'm wondering who you chatted with as well. On PSN you would have to be referring to my mate serendeep - nice guy isn't he?...for a psycho...lol One of my other friends, x_MISHIMA_x was #1, but he's taking a long break so he's not on top anymore. Anyway, the tips you got were very good nonetheless. Remember : timing, accuracy and co-ordination. Also, keep your eyes on the radar to maintain good tactics. I spend around 60% - 70% of the time looking at the radar. And don't screw around taking cover while others are getting kills. Cover is good in some situations, but not the majority of the time. I have quite a few PSN friends, but these two play the same way I do. We don't bother with people who are hiding, we go for the nearest out-in-the-open kill. If you happen to have someone spawn near you, take cover as they are invincible for the first 5 seconds. I tested this out with a mate and we learned that it's 5 secs from the instant they appear. Keep in mind that one headshot removes most of your health. The second bullet can hit any part of the body and kill you. On a side note, we also discovered that it takes exactly 30 kicks to the balls to kill someone. Well I hope some of that was helpful.

gazgunman
spend some time getting armour and an M16 (they have more range than the AK) make sure you've constantly got a full mag Use tree's or bus shelters as protection from cars

There's no M16 in the game, M4 carbine. All weapons have a further range than when you lock on in auto aim. So always try to free aim the shot before they can get you. If they have skill then they'll get you first. You can't get headshots when they're using cover. I love shooting their arms for ages and watching them die thinking how did they get me. Or when someone is hiding behind a vehicle or something where you can see their legs and feet.. Shoot their legs or feet and watch them die. The rankings in GTA are pretty crap, even some of the top ranked people in deathmatch and team deathmatch aren't as good as they think.
KILLINUGOOD
All of these are very good tips, but I didn't see the most important one. You should zoom in while aiming!!!!!!!! I still find people that don't know about this, and it is a very useful technique for nailing headshots from far away. Press L2 to start aiming, then press R3 to zoom in. So much better. Can also be used while riding passenger in a car, I use it all the time in cops and crooks to pop tires of the coppers chasing me, or for headshotting the driver, leaving cop passengers wondering WTF?? Also always play AutoAim Disallow. Jeez only N00Bs use AA. You will notice that your aim will improve quickly, and when you do play AA on, your aiming skills will help. Get an AK47, stay just out of autoaim reach and zoom in aim-------HEADSHOT--------short bursts of 5 bullets or so-if you keep shooting solidly, your aim suffers greatly.
