poopskin
Yes with a emulator (type that into google). 1. ain't no '360 emulator yet 2. Questionable legality 3. No computer is powerful enough to emulate a 360 and run windows at the same time.

Toadyd
He said xbox he never mentioned 360. The fact he clearly wants to play GTA IV on his computer kind of made it clear he was trying to emulate 360 games... You're better off just buying the console, or waiting with your fingers crossed for a PC release in the not too distant future.

jelly
There aren't any Xbox 360/PS3 emulators out there yet. Theoretically we should be able to run them on modern PCs but writing one which actually works in a somewhat efficient way is difficult. There are PS2 emulators around but I'm not sure I see the point, at least not for GTA. Besides, emulator discussion toes the grey line regarding warez discussion.. One always follows the other. Keep it clean, guys.
Otter
Isn't the golden rule something along the lines of you must have 3-4 times the processing power to emulate a machine at full speed? Does that ring a bell with anyone else? Because emulation creates an abraction layer to interface the 'imaginary' parts with your own hardware. I'm a huge fan of emulation and homebrew games. Playing LucasArts point and click games on my DS is the pinnacle of my nerdy hobby so far; I've been tempted to buy a GPX2 to run all the MAME stuff. Anyhow, yeah, sadly, you can't properly emulate XBox360 or PS3 games yet. Even PS2 emulators can run stupid slow, and are incredibly buggy. Otter
Heh, brush up on your english, little feller. Jallar meant that warez and ROMs are illegal and, as such, are beyond the acceptable scope of conversation at this forum. And what I meant was that emulators can be fun, but you need much more powerful hardware to run them.

jelly
A modern Intel quad core processor has five times the integer capability of the Cell. It's not as good at number crunching, but that's not what it was made for, and few developers even know how to use the 'SPEs' efficiently so I'm sure the SSE units would be more than good enough if someone just bothered to code the thing. Let's not even talk about the 'Xenon'..

Cursed
There isn't really a way to translate that into simple English. Anyway, the bottom line is you won't be emulating GTAIV any time soon. Just keep your fingers crossed for a PC version.

'V.x.'
what can i say .... thats sucks ..... so i wrote on another topic where can you take the cars from iv on xbox and convert them to sa on pc .. is thet possibale ... on that topic they said to me that it will be illigal ... but ltes think that the pc v. will not come .... so we actually can do it ? Picolini
There are some people working at extracting the car files from GTA IV, most likely the PS3 version since it's easier to get into the game files since they're installed ont he system. If they can get the 3d models from the game on to a Pc then into a program such as 3DS Max, then the cars can be converted to San Andreas.

Girish
so thats can be done, right ? but cant we some how to convert all the city to PC by own ??? Of course we can. We own Rockstar, don't we? Seriously, either get a console or just wait for IV to come out for PC. Converting the entire game to PC is no mean task and a bunch of modders won't be able to accomplish such a huge task. Slamman
That's fine and dandy but I'm still playing on my own PS3 and it's getting dirty and dusty to be sure! I'm curious about this new markdown I brought up prior to the announcement... MS lowered the Xbox price as it was stated, to make room for a higher capacity model, yet no mention of BluRay being the manner of capacity improvement?? If Xb360 has a 120GB option, what exactly is higher capacity? Does that refer to just an intro model with larger HDD?? I hadn't heard of this if it was mentioned somewhere. The news reporting it was woeful to say the least.
leik oh em jeez!
an xbox emulator is possible, but it requires xbox live, an xbox with a mod chip, and an FTP client, as you cannot open xbox DVDs on a PC, windows won't pickup the files (not even in cmd, I haven't tryed linux yet.) Because you need the console, a costly online subscription, a costly (and illegal) mod chip, and the game, xbox emulation is enirely pointless, plus gta iv is not on original xbox. For xbox 360, I would imagine you would need the same things, although now you'll get banned from xbox live (which you have to pay for, and you will not get a refund when banned and no longer able to use it) not to mention your PC specs would need to be about: 2 core 2 extremes quads, 4gb ram, 2gb vram (major sli or crossfire). now ofcourse you would also have to program your own emulator. you can get a 360 for $300, to get a 360 game on a computer, you would need somewhere around $5000, not to mention the time spent to program an emulator... Now for ps2, there are emulators out there and the discs can be read by a standard dvd drive. this is fairly easy to do, (compared to other emulators) and you would only need a pc with about half of the above listed specs, but gta iv is not on ps2. Now for ps3, you would need an insane computer, like 8 opterons, 4 radeon hd 3870's and 16gb ram, which would cost more than 30 ps3s, plus, I don't even know if the discs can be read by a pc, you would need a blu-ray drive to even try it. Look, the point is, other than ps2, any current gen or last gen emultors are completely pointless, and it costs thousands more to build a capable PC than a console. you are much better off just buying a the console. If you don't have the money for one, ask for one for christmas.
Slamman
I can't see car models moving from PS3 to PC via mods, next gen doesn't mean the GAMES are backwards compatible, just the old PS2 discs on those systems. I think you're thinking if the Mod community can make the GTA4 game work in some manner on PC, but again you think there's some force against you dictating no PC release, and I call BS on that theory. There's no substantial proof on that.

That is all wrong. Why would you need Xbox Live to run an emulator? No Xbox 360 game requires Xbox live what so ever. Mod chip? Why? You're running it off of your PC, not your system. FTP Client?? Where the hell did that come from?? And you don't need to open an Xbox dvd on a PC. Xbox discs are just like any DVD, they are just only readable by a 360. Therefore, if you had a PC EMULATING what a 360 would do, it would read it.
Slamman
An Xb360 is similar to a PC more so then the PS3, but still different. You won't get 360 games emulated on MAME32 for example...maybe they'll have something for MAME64?? HAHAHA

I am sure that downloading or using a BIOS that is not dumped from a console you own is a breach of copyright and most likely piracy laws. And this topic is now getting closer to becoming a warez topic so Mods. lock if necessary.
