That means, whatever you do in your game, it is very likely that one to fifteen other gamers will bear witness to it. This makes GTAIV multiplayer a prime location to see others act like fools, or rather, act a fool in front of others. A recent incident comes to mind. So the setting is GTA Race, Stars In Your Eyes track, Supercars (the host sure was creative, eh?), and 8 laps. I followed through with the usual "hang back early and watch the carnage unfold, then swerve around", and managed to snag an early lead. I was barely done half-done the race before the game deteriorated into an all-out deathmatch, so I was able to distance myself further and fully lap the 2nd place car. Kept speeding past all the deathmatchers, swerving around the battalions of buses and evading grenades, and in no time I was on lap 8/8. I thought, well if I finish, I'll have to wait for the other players to get some sense to put down their guns and actually pass the finish line, so... let's make some extra money! Well, I guess you can all see how this ended up. I was doing pretty well for myself, $100 here and another $100 there, and then I decided camping out near the finish line would be smarter. A little while passes and I see a rusty little Vigero putting around the corner. Easy, I thought, and I brought out my pistol, ready to plug the driver. I got a couple of shots in, looked like he was going to run me over, so I ducked behind some parked cars, lined up for a finishing blow... then he passes for what I thought would be his 6th or 7th lap... nope, you guessed it, he finished first. Ouch. Haha, I guess the moral of the story I learned that day is that greed is bad. And that only in GTA could bloodlust could prevent a guy from keeping first place in a race. Predictable insult to the injury: all my extra kills didn't result in a bigger payoff as second place over the guy in first. Well, it seems like whenever I post, I end up rambling, but the gist of my topic is: what embarrassing moments have you had or witnessed in your many hours on GTAIV multiplayer? So I really got on one of them after the game, accusing him of being a sh*t player and suggesting maybe he get Grand Turismo so he can drive all day and be happy instead of fighting with the big boys. Needless to say, he managed to run me over literally about 5 times. 2 times were good driving, times were him coming at the backend of a firefight I was in with another team and finally, his car got RPG's, flips through the air, lands on me...he gets the kill. FFS, talk about embarrassing! So yes, I had to commend him post game while still suggesting he learn to shoot straight. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It was a ranked TDM with AA off, I noticed everyone was trying to be on team one with the "pros" to get an easy win, so I figured WTH, I'll go on the opposing team and own these tards as usual. (usually get around 2:1, to 3:1 K/D ratios on ranked but the other players usually arent too bright), but soon the game started and well,our whole team was just getting owned, with me being still a somewhat new player having trouble getting the reticule quickly above the head. These guys were headshot gods to say the least. The game went on as our team got steamrolled... (I think our highest scorer on the team was $618.) I had around $500 or so) And my K/D's that game were something like 5 to 18. After the game was over, I sent a message to a couple of the headshot gods and complimented their good aiming & gameplay, GG etc etc. A little later I found out these guys were within the top 20 or so on TDM. =/. For the first time since I started playing multiplayer, I was able to actually play about 4-5 matches in a row with the same group of 8-9 people. A couple would leave, and a couple new ones would join, but we managed to play at least 4 games with mostly the same group. The group consisted of me, one ranked 8 player, one ranked 7. A couple of 4's and a couple of total newbies. One of the newbies somehow always had the rocket launcher (and I mean ALWAYS. He fired off WAY more than the usual 6 rounds, and I could swear he had spawned once with one.), but he was so horrible he ended up blowing himself up more than he killed anyone else. My strategy was to stay away from the 7 and 8 ranked players, as I figured they'd run me over. So I focused on the newbies. It didn't take me long to realize.....for people with such high ratings, these guys SUCKED. Or at least they weren't used to an AA on environment. I won 3 of the 4 deathmatches by a wide margin, and came in close in the second. In their defense, they were 2nd and 3rd in the matches I won, and 1st and 3rd in the one I didn't, and they scored well above the others. By the 5th deathmatch, the newbies were starting to leave. Of the core group of 8-9 players, we started this one off with only five, along with a couple of random new players. This time we were at the airport. First to $10k wins. Some time passes. The score is me with about $3500, the two high ranked players have just under $3k, and the others haven't hit 2k yet. The newbies start leaving the game until it's only me, the two high-ranked players, and some random guy who for all intents and purposes didn't matter. (Score was $3700, $3000, $3000, $100 or something like that. My lead.) And then it was all over for me. It became literally 3 on one. Without all the other newbies to worry about, I became the victim of headshot after headshot. I did my best to hold my own for a few minutes, figuring I'd see if I could pick these two off when they started fighting each other. They never did. And they had plenty of opportunity to do so. I don't know if these guys were buddies, or if they were after revenge for getting so soundly beaten, or if they both just figured (rightly) that I'd be good for target practice. But why they did it is irrelevant. They just came after me. They didn't even bother with the random newbie unless he happened to be in the way. So he was coming after me too. Even if they weren't teaming up, they were far better with long-distance shots than I was, and I knew I couldn't take the guys solo, let alone two on one. I think I got about 3 kills in in that period of time, and in every single one of those, they took me down with them. After falling victim to about 20 headshots, I ended up leaving the game. It was a learning experience, though. First, it reinforces my belief that AA on and AA off have two totally separate strategies, and a player can be good in one while being horrible at the other. Second, don't let the little number in the star fool you. There are some really bad players even at the mid- to high-ranks, and that rank-7 player you're up against may have no idea what the hell he's doing in the environment you're playing in. Most of the time, if someone grabs a helicopter, I end up completely ignoring them. 99.5% of the time, they're some total newbie who can't even control the thing, much less kill someone with it. Usually they end up flying around aimlessly, crashing into the ground, killing themselves, or whatever. But this guy knew how to use the copter effectively. He climbed into it almost immediately, and i saw him take out several people with the guns. A few of us got hit with the blades. In fact, I got hit twice. And he never died. Not once. He didn't win the deathmatch. I don't remember how I did, but I know the winner had some $4000. He had 29 kills, no deaths. Pretty damn good for a guy who spent the entire 20 minutes in a helicopter. Before I could get a shot at him though he got out of my aiming range. So I decided to quickly chase after him, but what I thought to be a small drop was one big enough to kill me. Splat, Lost $100. Another would be when I killed someone in there car, right after killing him I turned around and forgot about him, little did I know that when he died his foot hit the accelerator. All of a sudden. Petrovic got out but could'nt get off the bleachers so i got back in the chopper and tried to move it just a little back. The blades hit Petrovic sending him flying and killing him. I have this thing I do where I get a rating, get the cops on my ass and head for the airport barge, fight em off from there until I run out of ammo, and then making it back to land to restock (= 1 lap). Anyway after he cranked out 10 mins of awesome stunts, I said "Hey I got this thing, watch this" and proceeded to draw a cop prescence. I'm driving along, stopping every now and then so I don't lose my rating... at one point about 1 minute in I pause for too long in drawing thier attention... ... and a cop comes outta nowhere, pulls me out of the car and gives me a shottie to the face. When i respawned, I was on on top of him!!!! Well he moves and I fell to the floor and couldn`t get up as he was pumping me with lead !!!! HabeasKorpus Posted July 21, 2008 Share Posted July 21, 2008 i was cruising around on a speed boat and i had just lost a 6 star wanted level.i pull up to a dock to get back on land to collect more ammo,health, and armor and as i was jumping out of the boat onto the dock a wave came and raised the boat up and i tripped and fell and died.its kinda sad when i had all those cop cars and noose trucks and annihilators on my ass and all them combined couldnt kill me but tripping over something and falling did.i was so pissed i had to shut the game off. I killed three more until I see this guy speeding on a bike towards me. I get my Sniper Rifle and headshot him. I turn around to get on the boat to speed off and get some health when the bike hits me slowly and I fall and hit the boat succesfully killing me. So I'm in TDM with just one other person on my team against someone else so basically just three people i figured hell this is gonna be easy and fun to just pulverise this guy. So were in were capping this guy and suddenly my teammate hits me with a car Im a little pissed but i figure accident so I go back to my business shooting this guy and he runs me over AGAIN. So this is where im kind of wondering what the hells going on so i realize friendly fires off and i see my team again run me over then proceed to kill the opponent so thats when i realize that the mates knocking me out of the race so he can get more kills aka more money which is just messed because then thatd proceed into me having to kick their ass in the game and im just not the type to turn on the team so basically team mates who dont act like team mates are assholes Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

When I reach the river, there's a ring on my door and I accidently press the ^ and jump in mid air. But the fun part is that I landed in the water and the chopper continued towards the land, so the other folks jump after me but they all miss the water and die. RobJohnB95 Posted July 22, 2008 Share Posted July 22, 2008 ramped over 4 rpg rockets with a couple of sanchez tricks and was pretty cool and then i lost him and wondered where he was......yes he had stood behind me for 5 mins while i was freaking out then i shouted Sh!t Andthen as soon as i say that he replied yes, sh!t and blew me up with the last rpg rocket...i think it was his lasts rocket ammo. he burst out laughin then me and m8s got him in our car with another following incase he ran off then we .... 4 ...well including me 5 armed and armored men/players lead him inside then said we would pnuish him... he tried to escape via the rooftop.....until we mentioned / he noticed there was no ladder down and either had to jump and be spawn killed for the rest of the game or taken with us to the exacution square, well i called it that. i made it clear to him since he attemped to escape that if he tries again we will spawn kill and blackmail him for the rest of the game. so then i took him to the exacution square and killed him Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I usually grab an annihalator and hunt them down like a dog. Well this one guy was exploring and I must have nailed him about 6 times in a row before he snapped and came after my ass. Two more times I nailed him like until I grabbed a speed boat and hid by the side of the shore so it looked like I was on land. As soon as this dude came for me I sped off out to sea and thus out of range, honking the horn and laughing into my headset. I heard a whoosh of RPG round get launched in my direction and thought to my self "he's just done that in frustration, no chance of it getting any where near me" so I honked the horn again but it was cut short as the boat exploded in a cinematic black and white movie. willybeamishFREEMODE Posted August 7, 2008 Share Posted August 7, 2008 tearing up every one in FM at the airport with the chopper, kill ratio of roughly 20/1, ive gotten decent with the chopper, qand i am skimming the ground taking out helpless suckas when i plow the front into those 3 foot tall grass runway markers and fly through the windshield onto the tarmac, killing myself in the process, in front of about 14 people that hated me and wanted to kill me. sh*t was so funny i had to laugh, nothing better than when the asshole with the most skill in the game everyone hates kills himself by overstepping himself. I got the driver wit the M4 and knifed the other guy when he got out. Acidhaus Posted August 7, 2008 Share Posted August 7, 2008 I have also accidently hit triangle while flying a 'copter. My other fairly embarrassing moment was being in a free mode dm style game. I was lurking up on the train tracks above. I crept up and got a good site on a player below. I figured he was looking for me but didn't realize I was up above. I aimed the RPG but instead of hitting him it hit the railing right in front of me and blew me to bits. I'm sure he got a good laugh when he heard the explosion and saw the message, "Acidhaus Died."
