Statutory Ray
The Belgian company is saying they aren't shutting down any U.S. plants, just want a cheap beer they can market in other countries like China because they are also the ones that own Beck's and Stella. Whatever, I have Sam Adams and Yuengling to drink which are all American, all the time. InBev (the Belgian company) already brews Budweiser in Canada, and it's the same exact thing as everywhere else. Pretty much every country has Budweiser available, and while it and similar beers aren't exceptional beer, a lot of people who drink it do so because it is light and smooth. They can drink a lot without getting as full or pissing as much as other beer, and get just as drunk. They also take pride in making sure that every Budweiser, in every country, tastes the exactly the same. Beer is more technique than ingredients, so it's kind of amazing they keep their product to such a standard they don't allow any one deviation in any country at any brewery. That said, it's ironic for Budweiser to be the "true American beer" when it's name was taken from from a beer first brewed in Bohemia in 1803. They were shut down by Communists after WW1 and came back in 1989, and recently got the sh*t sued out of them by Anheuser-Busch and can't sell it as "Budweiser Bier" in the U.S. So they called it Samson. It still says Budweiser Bier on it, but the huge SAMSON differentiates it from Budweiser. It probably tastes better, too. I prefer PBR when I want to drink a cheap beer, though. makeshyft
What I find funny is the amount of Americans who tell me they drink nothing but Foster's. For a start, it's not widely consumed here, and also, the Foster's you get in the states is made in Canada.

I prefer wine and vodka, not normally at the same time, it's proved a bad combination on many occasion before now.

J&B straight, for me (lolreference).
Mark
Do you really think that America puts out better beer than Belgium? In fact, have you ever been to Belgium and drank actual Belgian beer? It's called Patriotism, you Communist. Go back to reading "The Communist Manifesto" and sharing your bread loaves with your neighbor. Maybe you should go back to a history book. Since when in history was Western Europe commie? American and Australian (marketed beer for aus anyway) is gnat's piss anyway. If you want a lager, stick with anything German I'd say. Dutch and Belgian are similar in taste if a little smoother from my experience. I'm not too fond of French lagers personally, I just don't like the after taste as much. Don't even get me started on Spanish lager. As for Ale, I'd have to say British is a good choice. Either way, now that it's owned by a Euro firm, hopefully they'll add some flavour. Hell, it may even beat the real Budweiser, the Czech version .
Jake
Beer makes me feel like sh*t now. I feel bloated like a fat viking who stumbles around with head spins after one too many. Especially malt liquor, Old E is the worst. When I first started drinking it was the best, now I'd rather not touch it. Ale is better, but hard a is where its at if you're going to drink and don't want to feel like a bloated couch potato later on.
rhyn
I'm drinking my way through a nice little stock of Stella I have here. Overall I much prefer European beer for the stronger taste, I found a nice little 5% on holidays in Greece called Mythos it was about 4 euro for a litre in the pubs there I think. Although saying that two of my favourite beers are Corona and Coors Light. SRS Incorporated
Breaking Bohan
Yeah, it is ironic that the all-american "bud" is a tasteless stupifying mass-produced product, which is shipped in from another country to save money for A-B. As a flag-waving american I know it will not taste any different under new ownership ... but I think I'd just rather shell out my money to Great Lakes Brewing Co. ... otherwise ... i can't even finish

kevin2006rhs
I bought a case of Yuengling and a bottle of Stolichnaya's for a little party I am throwing tomorrow...well today. It just started out as an apartment warming party an now its becoming a 30+ person saturday night BYOB. I figured I could just sit back and mooch beer and alcohol off of the party goers but I was in the mood for some decent beer and vodka seeing as everyone will be bringing Coors, Bud, Pabst, and other weak mass market brands along with some sh*tty vodka...something like Vladimir. God I love my Stoli.
