Like the rules say, three chapters at least, and although I wouldn't be too bothered about having it up, it wouldn't be fair on everyone else who wrote only a couple of chapters of a story if I added it. We set it up similar to to the GTA Forums Wiki project that way people can add their own stories to it as they like so one person isn't doing all of it. The stories themselves could be stored on there. Basically, we'd have an author bio page with a list of their bibliography... each title under them can would link to the page that houses the actual story. Who is with me? I was thinking about this before, that so your stories don't sink into oblivion, and that you only use your sig to advertise ongoing pieces, that something similiar to what you suggested would be a good idea. Personally, I'm not fussed, but I think it would be a good function to find the old stuff a lot easier. Saves all the trouble of searching through all the pages, you know? Don't worry. Vandalism is nothing. As long as we have back-ups of our articles everything is fine. Besides, you've got to be pretty damn pathetic to go around vandalising this stuff. Eminence Posted August 15, 2008 Share Posted August 15, 2008 The only thing about just creating some sort of stock wiki for it is that you still aren't truly creating a backup for all of those pieces; it's still reliant on another external server somewhere, on some site that doesn't offer full protection for the pieces. What's the point if something eventually happens whereby that site is lost? As Typhus said, we should try to progress with this and avoid any nay-saying, but I just wouldn't want it to end up like some stupid free website that's been created and will probably just end up being trashed at some point. Back when I ran the library, I updated it with pretty much everything that got posted (to a point - obviously the redundant pieces were left out). My point is, when somebody posted a good piece, I'd add it - they wouldn't need to come in and request for each and every piece to be added every time. I'm adding the SSOTM entries in a separate table to the usual one so we can see who entered and in which category. Obviously after a while this will lead to an overblown post due to a couple of month's competitions being on there, but I'll cross that hurdle when I get to it. As some of you may have read above, Eminence suggested that I adopted his old method of updating by adding anything I think is good enough to go in it. This means, of course, that you will no longer have to post here to get your topic up, but feel free to do so anyway, in case you're concerned I'll miss it. I can also use this as an opportunity to get active in Writer's Discussion again. It's been a busy last few weeks for me, so I'm aiming to get as involved as I can.
