CTDiesel
What is the freaking secret to being even remotely successful in a deathmatch. These friggin homos are racking up thousands of dollars and I can't even break a single thousand. Most of the matches I have been in have been with auto aim, yet it seems like I have to unload a whole clip whereas someone else can shoot me down with 3 or 4 bullets. I'm gonna smash something.....I want to have fun but it's no fun when you Fing suck.
FlourescentBlack
Im far from an expert at shooting details and tricks of the trade in GTA but I figure its the same as other shooting games. Short conrtolled bursts, if you are not gunna hit the guy don't fire in hopes you might, instead take the time to line your shot up first to ensure a hit, otherwise you are just going to go inaccurate so when you finally do get your crosshair on the guy your bullets aren't going there anyway. From what I can tell it's point n shoot. No leading required except for the sniper rifle and rockets. Don't worry about the tracers on your screen. If reticle health is on you know you are lined up because all of a sudden you see a health circle. This health circle only appears when the target is in weapon range. Thats how you know you are in range beyond AA lock distance as well. Shooting at peds is good practice, in fact like any shooting game as long as you are always aiming at something its good practice. Not shooting neccecarily but always be aiming at something no matter what you are doing. If your a passenger in a car continuously be aiming at other drivers even if you aren't shooting. Play with the cover option and get to know how it works, I still need to do this as I usually race or do battle from a vehicle in a non AA game. PRO TIP: If you are running straight and have no aiming/camera imputs when you start to shoot you are by default aiming at head level on anything at the same elevation as you, you should only need to adjust left to right for a HS. Try it on a Ped. Practice to where you don't even need to aim left or right, now do it from farther n farther.
Lazlo_Panaflex
Yeah...all that is written above is good advice. I'm no uber gamer...but I hold my own. Here are my tips... 1. Relax. 2.Don't go f*cking berko as soon as you start a game. Go and find some armour and a good gun (M4, AK or SMG) and then think about killing people. If you are playing Near Respawn and 1 second games...err...go berko as soon as you start a game. I don't play those games unless I am in the zone. 3. Until you are confident in your ability, play a defensive game. Don't go bursting in the streets blazing, because you will get picked off. Find a good section of map that has cover and use it. 4. Use your cover. Crouch...always crouch. It makes your tag disappear and increases your aim. Bushes are good to hide behind 5. Learn to do head shots...as above 6. Don't hop in cars in AA on games unless you want to be killed straight away. They are okay for driving to where the action is...but get out on foot before you engage the enemy. 7. When playing higher ranked players...be prepared for an arse whooping...so play defensively. And be patient. 8. Don't get into a fire fight unless you have full health. I am guilty of this quite a bit because I get the blood rush and want to kill. Go and get some health and come back And practice. You'll get better really quickly
SuperJude™
Practice, that's about the sum of it. Sure you can fire in short bursts, use R3 for first person view, crouch, move sideways when being shot at, try to hit a headshot on every kill, try to hit them before they enter AA range but nothing can supplant the fact that practice is so much of this game. You learn the levels, where people are likely hide or come from, how to deal with different situations like facing an AK with a pistol, how to take out a sniper, how to cope with somebody who is cornered in a good spot, where to hide, etc etc etc. Just practice, keep at it, notice how others get their kills and if you have a mic, feel free to ask somebody better, I found a lot of help that way early on.
