GTAaddictforever
GTA 3 is inferior to GTA 4 due to technology, but I had a lot more fun actually playing GTA 3. Starting the game in GTA 3...Escaping from a prison van with another criminal on a highway Starting the game in GTA 4.... driving Roman to his apartment and listening to rpg-like story. blah blah blah When I was playing GTA 4, the missions were all the same from start to end. It was so boring...... Examples of missions in gta 4... 1) one of the missions is even a copycat do-over from GTA 3.... disguise yourself as a motorcycle gang member and frame people.... remember that? GTA 3 did it first......had fun then. Why no originality in 4...? 2) Help your homosexual friend (Bernie in GTA 4 / OG Loc in GTA SA) chase down an enemy of his while riding a motorcycle/faggio. etc......... the missions were more fun in GTA 3. The world felt more fun. It wasn't as detailed, didn't have as beautiful graphics, but it was enough for me. Anyone else get more enjoyment out of GTA 3 than they did GTA 4? I won't even mention Vice City or San Andreas, since both of those games are superior to GTA 4 and it goes without saying. mike752
That's because in 2001, GTA III was revolutionary, even though there was a sh*tty physics system and not much to do after the game was finished. GTA IV, 7 years later, isn't so revolutionary, it just has nice graphics and a good physics system. If it weren't for those, IV would suck and be just like III. xNamexTakenx
Actually, I had more fun playing IV than I did III. It was way better, IMO. I'm pretty sure hardcore GTA fans will disagree with me. But, I am a pretty big fan, too. And I think IV is the best, so far.
Carbine23
Yeah i think GTA3 is more fun. I always loved going to the Pan-Atlantic Construction sight on Staunton Island and killing all the Colombian Cartel. Also the Yakuza were walking around so they helped. I used to spend over an hour just walking around the area shooting Colombians. Everytime those Blue Cartel cars stopped at a light, i saw a Yakuza man run to the car and take out the Colombian and then shoot him. It was especially fun with the enhanced gore cheat. 02134
I had the most fun in GTA 3 then any GTA game. Even though I played San Andreas first, GTA 3 is my favorite.
GTA3Freak-2001
In 2001 yes I agree but if I was to play it again today I probably could not enjoy it as much as I did GTA: IV. GTA3 will always have the fact that it was GTA the 2D crime spree in glorious 3D. It just gave the game this enormous boost, I'll never forget the first time I played it! Mute Giant
GTAaddict forever.... It's kind of strange you're still around these GTA forums. Considering the game has been out for months now, and you have since day one been nagging about how GTAIV is the worst GTA in history. I mean..... come on! Get over it! It's not like your girlfriend dumped you or you lost a child. You don't have to spend months in sorrow. It's just a game you didn't like! Get a new game or a new hobby.... Or most importantly a life! greebo-man
GTAIII had that awesome sense of wackiness, and I took pleasure in the fact I could do whatever the f*ck I wanted. GTAIV just feels too serious, I know you can still do whatever the f*ck you want, but that awesome feeling I got before I settled down to a nice blood orgy in GTAIII is just absent in IV. WastedEngland
I agree that III's story was better, but overall IV is the better GTA in my opinion. This far into these kind of games the missions would start to seem boring and tedious. For IV's missions to not be boring, you would have another San Andreas where everything was crazy and far fetched. That suited San Andreas because if San Andreas had a serious storyline, CJ would have just beat the balla's and got his hood back in Los Santos making San Fierro, Las Venturas and everything else a waste. Niko's story in IV suited Liberty City and how Liberty City is seen as the utopia of the american dream and the land of oppertunity and so on. IV's rendition of Liberty City is probably the best free roaming city i've seen. I havn't played a game with an urban landscape as detailed as this, on such a scale. III had mindless pedestrians that walked around aimlessly until you shot a gun, then they would run away. Im not even going to go into the possibilites IV's pedestrians are capable of. I have to admit that there isn't as much mindless violence in IV as there is in the last generation but I think this is what R* intended. With the new wanted-circle system and visibilities and stuff, it shows they are taking a skillful look on how you cause destruction and how you survive it. If you had a 5 star wanted level in past games you'd just kill cops left, right and center in a mindless rampage where as in IV if you had a 5 star wanted level, ran out into the street shouting "YOU'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE!!" its pretty much guaranteed that in a few seconds your screen will turn grey and Niko will be a bloody mess on the floor. Instead, you would need to take cover, think about if you should take the slightly smoking cop car, or risk a few seconds hot wiring a healthy car across the street and so on. Tony Mozzarelli 80
Oh yeah GTAIII was f*cking awesome at the time. I had never played a better game prior to that. Was up for about two days straight playing it, good times
Talakua
GTA 3 blew me away, it was fresh and unique at the time and i had never played anything like it before, and yeah it was great fun. GTA 4 blew me away too just not in the same way, but i do find it just as fun.
EmmaISsoontobeMVP
I have fun with both but GTA3 is too out dated. The world feels like a ghost-town, i mean it sucks driving down a block with no cars or peds and the peds look all blocky. I can go back to Vice City and SAN none the less. I liked LCS better then GTA3 for some reason. GTA:3 is a classic game don't get me wrong.

Mr. Mcreary
I honestly had more fun with III then Vice City. I think it's because I liked the whole 'NY' feel, and even though the whole map was smaller, it felt bigger and more memoriable then Vice's. chitoryu12
1) one of the missions is even a copycat do-over from GTA 3.... disguise yourself as a motorcycle gang member and frame people.... remember that? GTA 3 did it first......had fun then. Why no originality in 4...? How was it a copycat? The "disguise yourself and frame a gang to start a war" format was also used in Vice City. Look how different each was. GTA III: Run over Yakuza boss while driving a Cartel Cruiser GTA VC: Dress up as a Cuban and attack a Haitian funeral GTA IV: Dress up as an Albanian (not a member of a motorcycle gang) and chase a guy on bikes. That's like saying that the mission where you have to chase down your old boss and kill him is a copycat mission. You did the same with Salvatore, Toreno, Smoke, Ryder, and to an extent C.R.A.S.H. GTAaddictforever
With the new wanted-circle system and visibilities and stuff, it shows they are taking a skillful look on how you cause destruction and how you survive it It might be new to GTA, but the wanted circle is stolen from Scarface : The World is Yours When I was playing GTA 4, I was like wtf? I already played this police system before..... once again no originality

Crosby
addict you never cease to amaze me w/ your pessimism. GTA III is like the first time you get laid. (assuming you have the necessary equipment to do that. And you could find some skank hag to put up w/ a whiney sniveling little cry baby.) GTA IV is like your first threesome. (w/ two girls-not guys) They're both great and memorable in their own way.
