Controls for flying at flying school

Dear GTA Forum Users,

 

Thanks for the ongoing support.

 

Can somebody please tell me what I am doing wrong in trying to fly the plane in the first mission 'Take Off' on the PC version?

 

I am pressing forward to gather speed, the when it tells me I slowly tap backwards and after a while press 'retract wheels' but I only make it to the end of the runway then the plane keeps going in a straight line. I keep the accelerator pressed the whole time (forward).

 

On the PC I don't know what control I am (or not) pressing as well as when the timing is right?

 

I have read on the forum that they talk about the 'static joystick' for Play Station - is this moving the mouse up and down like when you are driving?

 

I have attempted the mission myself but unfortunately have not had any success.

 

I would like to have a proper attempt at it myself, once I know what I am pressing or not pressing, before I kindly ask somebody to help me!!

PS: The main problem is that the plane doesn't gain any height after I have pressed down and have successfully retracted the landing wheels. I have tried many variations of depressing forward and backward, as well as timing but can't seem to get it right!

PS: I think this is the hardest mission I have encountered yet - although I didn't the two final Zero missions because they involved flying as well.
