EmmaISsoontobeMVP
The city is not big at all. They are useing new graphics and technology which makes thing seem bigger then they really are. It can make a damn light post look big. That's why cars look like real life and when you look around you can see these really big and wide buildings. They city in GTA4 is small but has more stuff in it which makes it seem big. I wonder why the city would look like with out the graphics.

Safe_Badger
I've said this many, many times before. They're not in the same league San Andreas was sick, but it was a ps2 and xbox game. GTA IV is sick, and it is a ps3 and xbox 360 game. You CANNOT compare the two games. SA has this IV has that. IV is next generations III - and it certainly has more than III did. It's not beacuase they are for different systems it's beacuase they were made with different game engines. I already said this, but GTA IV fanboys don't seem to understand. Why can't you compare the two? They are both in the same series of games... If you couldn't compare them because of technology, there would be no way to measure the gameplay of an old game. All game grading scales would need to be revised or old games scores lowered every time a new platform or technology came out. It's easy to compare them and see their similarities and differences. 02134
You can compare them, just not by saying you can fly across GTA IV LC in 1 minute in a helicopter but in San Andreas it took you 5 minutes.
EmmaISsoontobeMVP
Comparein Vice City and GTA:3's citys are a just a joke. Also it took you 5 mins to fly over SAN because of the waste-lands man. GTA4 has no waste-lands.

Ah, maybe I misunderstood the scope of the statement.
Tony Mozzarelli 80
For f*cks sake. Listen i have no problem with people liking the game, or even saying it's better than San Andreas, but of all the tenuous, and deluded arguments i have seen made, this takes the f*cking cake, it really does. LC IS NOT BIGGER THAN SA.... there is no basis for discussion here, it isn't as big.
Magic_Al
Check out page 1 and 2 here: Map comparisons The GTA IV map makes the GTA 3 map look huge. The GTA III map looks bigger than it really "plays" because of the northern area which is really nowhere to go in the game. And look how much space GTA III's airport takes up. What's striking is how small and less dense the street grids are in GTA III, although there are a few small street blocks that prove the scale is correct compared to the street blocks in GTA IV. Also airport runways are a good comparison between all the maps.
Lioshenka
SA is only bigger in terms of island size because of all the wasted space... You mean Los Santos and Las Venturas??? Yeah, I think R* could have done something better instead of those crap holes.
