btw you should be ashamed if you sell the BB gun like it's some random junk you picked up.

cherish that sh*t, every single playthrough I do, I put all of my childhood posessions (baseball bat, hat, ball, glove, BB gun and ammo) on the living room table in my Megaton house.

one of the best things about playing through FO3 is just collecting sh*t and sticking it around the safehouse. it always came to a point where I ran out of space though, lol. i had my Fat Man in the corner, with all the Mini Nukes lined up neatly, I once cleared out the "spare room" and lined up a bunch of weapons in there like a little armoury.

kinda odd how the most fun part of a post apocalyptic wasteland with mini nuke launchers, power armour and miniguns is the interior decoration.

^ haha, true. It's a shame though that you can only have one place at a time to call home in the game (either the Megaton house, or the Tenpenny suite). It would've been great if you could also have your own place in Rivet City for example

Where is the spawning pod exactly? I used the Stealth boy which was good but I can't find the room.

Also I was in need of caps which was why I sold the BB gun.

I'll just copy the walkthrough from the guide for you. Hope it finally helps haha.

Once you're inside the memorial, enter the tunnel stairs. Stay straight and ignore the corridor to your left. Continue down and left to the door with red flashing lights at the base. Before you open this door sneak, use a stealth boy and turn your flashlight off. Enter a hub room, with doors and stairs and a prowling mirelurk. Sneak around the lurk without alerting it, heading east to the door to the Facility Bay.

Once inside, make a clockwise circle around the outside of the chamber. Continue around the perimeter until you're heading south and creep down the stairs in the floor. Turn right immediately as you're at the flooded area. Ensure that your stealth boy is on then move toward the gantry bridge, turn and head west. Look for an opening in the railings to your right.

Land in the water, find an egg clutch, hide the observer in it. Then retreat out of this place. If you're caught by any mirelurks on your way out, you can and should outrun them.

I would recommend getting your ass over to point lookout if you have the DLC, you can get two amazing perks one which buffs your damage ALOT and they are pretty easy to get without having to spend too much time there.

Also you can grab any of the lever action rifles or the Blackwater Rifle, the thing owns because it uses 10mm, which is probably the most common ammo and does nearly as much damage as Lincoln's Repeater, however that rifle can be repaired with basic hunting rifles, but it uses rarer .44 ammo.

If you are short on caps, just keep the decent weight to value ratio of about 10 value for every 1 point of weight. Checking in trash bins for pre-war money helps as it doesn't weigh much and it is worth a decent amount, but if you play the game normally you are going to find much better stuff than you are ever going to need to buy anyway. Talon merc ambushes are always a nice little goldmine.

Yeah. With Rivet City I like to stay in the public room on the lower level. There's beds there, footlockers (not sure if safe) and some food you're free to eat. :D

That's if you play like me though.. eating food regularly and sleeping every 12 hours.

Finally got past the MIrelurks mission. Took me another couple of reloads but I finally got there. Problem is now all the quests currently are very far away, and I have to get past newer and tough creatures to get there. (Ex: Those weird things near the GNR Building Plaza).

Yeah, super mutants. Use all your best gear on them, they're the strongest enemies you'll meet at this point. By the time you find tougher enemies, you'll have been given better weaponry.

Carry on through Chevy Chase, a little helping hand will show up and you'll get yourself a nice new weapon.

But yeah, use any rifle you've got and fire everything into their heads. You'll get a minigun off one of them but don't bother with it, it does hardly any damage.

So I just discovered Rivet City while doing the final chapter in the quest for Moira. I like it but I still prefer Megaton. :p

Honestly though, I got addicted to nearly everything there lol, so I spent a sh*tload of caps (300 or something I think) and now I am running out of caps again but I'm sure I'll be able to bounce back. I actually like the place, quite interesting to explore.

Also For PC users, I found a way to get back into Vault 101, part of the help was taken from a youtube video:

1) Go to Vault 101's entrance.

2) Open up the Command's thingy.

3) Type 'tcl'

4) Now you should be able to go go through the Vault door but everything will be unsolid.

5) To make it solid type '/tcl'.

6) And now you can explore a brief part of Vault 101! However a lot of the doors are locked so you might need to go through them using the tcl command.

The game is quite addictive, I have so far made 113 saves and 9+ hours of playtime and I am barely half-way through the story.

Ace you don't need to use the commands to get into Vault 101 again. Keep playing the game and you'll see why.

As for drug addictions, you should've saved your caps for safehouse upgrades, like I suggested a few days ago. You get an infirmary where you can cure all your addictions whenever you want. RIght now your only option is to pay a doctor to cure you, but that's still expensive.

Or just save your game before you take a drug. If you get addicted, reload the save and try again. It eventually gets to a point where addiction is inevitable though.

Yeah I know why but that is only for a temporary while.

And I wasn't talking about drug addictions, I was kinda intrigued by all the options to buy in the Market, since it is far larger than Megaton's.

I really want to continue playing this, but by the powers of non-buggy bethesda games if I try to save or load it crashes saying 'the disk is unreadable'. I've deleted all the dlc, installed and uninstalled it (which worked for Skyrim), but to no avail.

The only other option is apparently that the saves are corrupted, according to various forums. Anyway of checking this?

Operation: Anchorage is usually one of the first things I try to complete when I start off a fresh save file on 3. It's the easiest way to get a set of Power Armor with the power armor training perk. And to top it all off the Winterized T-51b will never degrade.

Speaking of Anchorage, you ever pull off the "Gary 23" glitch? That makes finding ammo and guns a lot less of a struggle. (:

I got the Winter Combat Armor, and the General's uniform doing this. Then all of the guns, including a Gauss Rifle, will never degrade.

Of course, you have to look on youtube, since it's way too complex to write on a post.

Oh right.

If you think FO3 has a lot to buy, wait until you get New Vegas. NV has much more of an "economy", since in FO3 pretty much everything can be easily found lying around and caps aren't very common. In New Vegas it's the opposite, and there's weapons and ammo that you're gonna have to buy, since there's a lot more variety. You've also got weapon mods too, and the improved shooting lets you play in all sorts of different ways. Clearing out a town full of Fiends using only a scoped Hunting Rifle with headshot sneak criticals is just amazing.

I think F:NV nails it perfectly. Ammo is hard enough to come by so that you won't be wasting it, but it's common enough that you won't be spending the whole game avoiding using a weapon because the ammo is too rare.

Whereas in FO3, you can grab a hunting rifle and plenty of ammo from Super Mutants, then a practically endless supply of Plasma RIfles and MF cells from the Enclave later in the game.

FO3 is still awesome though. I think I'll play through it again soon. I might change my views on it now I'm used to NV a lot more; I might have just sucked at 3 haha.

Anyone else find 3 better than NV?

I really didn't like the New Vegas setting and siding with either Caesar legion, NCR, Mr. House or Yes Man.

I lost interest in the game after one and half playthoughts. I addictly played 3, though.

I haven't played New Vegas yet. At the time of its release I was playing a lot of FO3 because I had just bought all the dlc and I just didn't feel the need to get NV as well. I never got round to buying NV after that. I do remember reading a few negative reviews about the game though, so I guess that threw me off a little bit as well.

I should probably get New Vegas now that I haven't played FO3 in a long while. A lot of people say it's better than FO3, but for me it probably won't be...

I liked the NV setting. The only thing to improve it would be better graphics (to make Freeside feel like a dangerous sh*thole) and a more populated Strip without the gates.

I'm on a Yes Man playthrough atm, taking time to do more quests and whatever, probably won't contribute to storylline for a long time. The most recent thing I did was install Yes Man to the Lucky 38 and then left the Strip for a while. I thought it made sense, after my character killed Mr. House he wouldn't wanna be anywhere near the Strip. Around that time I was doing random needs along the I-15, looting caves and whatever.

Went back for a short holiday to Vegas, traded in my leather armour and cowboy hat for a suit, did some diplomatic stuff there and whatever, like the Omertas and White Glove quests.

Went back out to the area around the Strip, picked up Arcade Gannon and finding loads of new stuff I never knew about, like The Thorn.

Next I'll do a Legion playthrough, doing quests the bad way, and then a strict NCR playthrough, accepting work only from NCR.

Question though, idk how the disguise thing works completely. Can I wear NCR armour while working for them?

Depends on which side armour you're talking about. Faction armor sets reputation with the side the armor belongs to to neutral, so you may be vilified by NCR, but still works for them.

Of course faction armor works both ways, so you'll be automatically hunted by the factions fighting with the one, which armor you're wearing.

So if I'm working with the NCR, is there no way to wear the NCR's armour and still get good reputation with them? Or does it stay Neutral until I take it off?

I've had the NCR ranger armor when I did a NCR playthrough.

Can't remember how I got it... But, I gave it straight to Boom-badass companion. Your first playthrough has to be with the NCR if you want the best out of the game. Fact!

I wanted to do NCR on my first playthrough but a quest glitched so I ended up working with Mr. House

Right now I'm doing independent, but not attacking NCR. I think they attack on final quest but whatever they shoot first lol.

I'm also trying to make this playthrough last as long as I can lol. I could always go right to the end and then "stop" right before the last quest but that feels weird, I prefer to be in a story than at the end of one.

I don't think I've enjoyed many games playing after the storyline, I mostly just start over lol.

That's why I like FO3's ending when you've got Broken Steel. Even after the quests it still feels like there's a storyline.

The latter. Your reputation will be set to neutral as long as you will be wearing one of their armors.

Damn...

Is there any justification for working with NCR full-time without wearing their armour?

I was doing this at least twice. You don't need their armor to be loved by them.

I mean like, story wise.

Why would a full-time NCR trooper not wear NCR uniform?

Just a weird thing of mine though, I'll probably do it anyway but it'll feel odd without a reason lol.

Why are we discussing NV in the 3 topic? There's an entire NV thread to talk about that in!

Fallout discussion is pretty empty as it is right now.

Just my opinion but I think it's easier to just have general Fallout discussion in this thread. The games aren't that unrelated to need their own topics right now, as I said there's not many people posting about Fallout at the moment.

Of course if you want me to stop discussing NV here, I'll do so.

Loved this game a little too much. I once played this game for 3 days straight, only taking short breaks to eat. I looked in the mirror and I looked like sh*t. I actually took the disk out the ps3 and broke it in half.

I'll never go back to rpgs because of this game.

Went on F3 again, I must say the graphics are far better than NV's, or perhaps it's just the more detailed environments.

Gonna alternate between both playthroughs.
