If i were you i would stick with the Fallout 3 DLC rather than moving onto New Vegas, sure New Vegas is a good game but it will never be as good as Fallout 3 or the F3 DLC.

How exactly is Fallout 3 better than New Vegas...?

Nice try, but it's been a nice day today* and you won't spoil it by trying to make me angry.

If I wanted to reenact WWII (or any other good vs. evil story ever written for that matter) whilst wearing giant metal suits and shooting lasers I'd play a Star Wars game. Get off your high horse Mr. Trolly-McWon't-shut-the-f*ck-up.

And just because I like quoting myself, since I am in fact, amazing.

Alright, so I finished the part where you have to exit the vault and I went to Megaton, after I arrived and had information about "my" father it told me to go find galaxy radio to continue my quest. I walked and walked until I arrived at an irradiated river, and suddenly after I got to the other side, people were shooting at me from everywhere. What should I do? Should I kill them? Should I take another route? Should I stay in megaton to get better guns and more XP? Or should I just run away?

Also, I would like to politely ask for NO spoilers at all, whether in or out of spoiler tags.

You need to go through Farragut West metro station.

Yeah if memory serves thats the route i took, However thats not to say you have to take that path! At this early level of the game though i imagine you havent acquired any good weapons yet so let me fill you in on a little secret..

If you walk out the Megaton gates and turn left, keep walking down for a bit along the wall of the town, eventually you'll see a slightly unusual rock, in this rock is a sniper rifle and some ammo! Heres a quick video as my explanation was beyond awful

Maybe you could go back the way you just went, and pick the enemies off from a distance? Could net you some nice XP and you can loot all there stuff icon14.gif

Thanks guys, I'm sure this is gonna help. Did you guys blow megaton up or did you save it? If you blew it up, how much money would Burke give you?

I saved it because i wanted the house Lucas Simms gives you for saving the town! I just found Megaton an easy place to sell stuff as there are a few vendors around there.

If you choose to blow it up though, and you want to do the Wasteland survival guide quest, make sure to do that BEFORE you blow up Megaton icon14.gif

Thanks, I saved the town. But sadly the sheriff got killed (but he had a good gun wink.gif ) I'm off to Farragut now. Let's hope it works!

I'm surprised Simms survives any encounter with players if I'm honest. The price you pay for wearing a cool hat and coat in the wasteland is usually a swift and merciless death.

There's one instance where that Tenpenny's thug kills him, if I recall. wink.gif

Hurrrr, can't remember his name even though I met him just yesterday when I was playing the game.

EDIT: About the hollowed out rock behind Megaton (video posted above)... I've played about 600 hours of the game on both Xbox 360 and PC, and only now I find out about it biggrin.gif Just started wondering what else I've missed during those 600 hours.

I recently attempted to give Fallout 3 another go (I haven't played it since last September) but it just feels so hollow and unbalanced compared to New Vegas yet so similar in terms of engine.

I also guess I kind of overplayed FO3 since I probably clocked over 1000 hours on all three systems.

Alright, I did it. After I arrived in Chevy Chase I saw brotherhood of steel guys, who helped me kill the mutants. At the end there was this huge one, I killed it and the brotherhood didn't help me at all. One more question: How do you quicksave (ps3)?

Not sure what you mean by quick save. The game auto saves every time you enter/leave a building or rest/sleep. You can manually save at any moment by pressing Start>Save. I think you can have a sh*t load of manual saves to.

In my video walkthroughs of Fallout new vegas (which I sucked at) I kept quicksaving with the q button on my keyboard before I would pickpocket or kill or anything. Since I started PS3 gaming I can't find that button

I saved ALOT playing Fallout 3, Its always good to save before making big decisions in the game in case your not happy with the outcome. And it helps for Karma aswell, for example if your playing as a good character and you see someones house you want to snoop about in but its locked, saved before! Because lock picking peoples locked houses and terminals loses you Karma, and if you enter and all thats in there is some empty Nuka Cola bottles, its a waste of time.

I saw that while snooping on FB, anyway, I'd give my left nut for that, especially if it's GUI was white or blue. (Yeah I use Blue and white most of the time for my HUD and Pip-Boy color in this and NV.)

Sorry for the huge bump, but I got the ultimate edition on the PC today and I'm basically a little confused on how to install mods. I've read up on it, but it seems a little complicated? Also, I seem to have a problem with my game. The settings were automatically chosen by Fallout itself when I first started the game. Whenever I go into my Pip Boy, all of the text showing the 3 buttons at the bottom are basically a white mush of unreadable. Is there a setting I need to change so I can actually read these options or am I stuck like it forever?

Isn't the Ultimate Edition only with New Vegas or do you mean the Game of the Year Edition?

Anyways, with mods you'll need Nexus Mod Manager and Better Oblivion Sorting Software.

When you have a mod, you just go into game's directory (Computer, HDD (C:), Program Files (x86), Bethesda Softworks, Fallout 3 (or wherever you installed it)) and copy the mod files where the readme included with it says to.

Then launch Nexus Mod Manager and select Fallout 3 (if it's already got another game selected, click on the curved arrow at the top right of the window) then tick the boxes next to the mods you want to use. You may also need to click on the Tools option and make sure archive invalidation is ticked. You may also need to select the official DLC's tick boxes here so they actually load.

After this, go into the 'BOSS' folder in the Fallout 3 directory and click on the BOSS application, which should then bring up your browser with the information about your load order (you can just close the window after it comes up since it's already ordered the files).

It should work fine now. If you have any problems and really want to install mods feel free to PM me or something; I do this quite a lot.

Have you got a screenshot or something to see what's actually happening?
