You said Fallout 3 has a hardcore mode. It's not true. Not everyone wants to use mods.

Derp.

Really? Are you that thick? I was subtly pointing out the fact that New Vegas' hardcore mode is practically a carbon copy of FWE with oodles less features not to mention it's probably gratuitously easier. I was making a suggestion for a fantastic mod that people could look up, download and enjoy in not so many words. I never mentioned consoles as I don't give a flying f*ck about them in regards to this conversation since they're completely and utterly inapplicable to this circumstance.

I suppose subtlety must get lost on you.

Just gonna pop in here and say FWE isn't fully original of itself anyway, a lot of it is inspired by old-Fallout and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

^Because semi-subtle wittiness is more fun than blurting sh*t out.

Actually a big portion of FWE was the inclusion of oodles of original Fallout weaponry, my favorites being the .223 pistol, the pipe rifle and the .14mm pistol.

Here is what I think about the DLCs, but I haven't played Broken Steel yet. Mothership Zeta is very repetitive, but the Alien Epoxies are definately an amazing item to fix up your weapons. Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt are amazing for the rewards (enough said). Point Lookout is what I would say is the funnest due to the large map and a nice handful of quests. Also, the enemies are TOUGH in Point Lookout. There's the local hillbillies with minor mutations, tribals with kevlar skin, more powerful Mirelurk King variants, and those extremely nasty Feral Ghoul Reavers. If you don't have Broken Steel, then you can save yourself from having to fight the Feral Ghoul Reavers.

The Super Mutant Overlords from Broken Steel are the f*cking worst, though they're less common and more predictable than the Feral Ghoul Reavers.

@Arexi: Amusing back and forth was amusing.

Ive got all of the DLC from Fallout 3 as i got the GOTY edition... And to be honest, Mothership Zeta was pretty good... I liked that idea and loved the extra weapons, although the ammo has no gone and cant use them anymore lol

Am i the only one who uses the Ghoul Mask? True it has no real stats but when you've got strong weapons, you hardly need them lol plus the fact that you dont need to fight the ghouls at any point whilst wearing it = a nice pleasant waltz through buildings that are jam packed with Ghouls...

True, but nothing is a problem when you have a good stealth skill, the Silent Running perk, and Chinese Stealth Armor. I believe my skill is 75 to 80 (Silent Running and Chinese Stealth Armor together makes 25 of those points), and I can punch any enemy while sneaking to only go into caution. F*cking around with Super Mutant Overlords, Feral Ghoul Reavers, and Deathclaws is very funny this way. You punch them, then they come sprinting full speed towards you (that means move to the side). Just shows how overpowered the Chinese Stealth Armor is. lol.gif

I like Broken Steel Mothership Zeta and Operation Anchorage didn't like the pitt or point lookout.

Feral ghoul reavers are very irritating in broken steel they wiped out most of the robots in the presidential metro they soak up ammo at an alarming rate.

Super mutant overlords are annoying but not as annoying as the reavers when i first heard the name super mutant overlord i expected them to be bigger than the super mutant behemoths, the name super mutant overlord is misleading

Not really. Overlord implies that they're above everything else in their respective domain and as such smarter, stronger and faster; leading to them more or less taking on the leader position. Behemoth just implicates their massive size.

Well, it does imply to me that they'd be sporadic. Instead of EVERYWHERE. F*ck. Bethesda has a lot to learn about proper balance. It just seems weird to me that you can go f*ck around in one corner of the world, gain a level, and when you come back, all the bad guys are superpowered assholes. Sigh.

I guess that's one hurdle of a massive free-form game world.

Now, anyone, as I'm getting closer to finishing F3 only one question remains:

Go straight to NV or do some of the DLC? Is it even worth it, or nothing spectacular?

The DLC's great, each one is brilliant in it's own right and provides something the core game doubtlessly couldn't offer in terms of atmosphere, story and awesome loot. I'd highly recommend playing them all before moving onto NV.

Also, this has been asked for probably the umpteenth time but if the war started in 2077, and game set in 2277, why is there 50's paraphernalia?

Is it just continuing the "what if" scenario? ie what would happen if there was nuclear war had we continued the 50's mindset?

It's based on a "world of tomorrow" future, or what people from the nuclear age thought the future could be like.

eh? I thought it was obvious to know why this happens.

Fallout's world isn't f*cked up, it's brilliantly crafted. Read more into it instead of just killing everyone you meet... there's alot more to this game/franchise than the 'fun gameplay and funny gore'.

The whole universe and atmosphere is amazing and damn compelling.

@Killa, The world of Fallout, its whole Lore, its all story is based around the world not evolving out of the 50's, meaning continuing living in the 50's era as technology evolved. Thus the car designs and etc. It is a "what-if" but you sound really condescending about it.

@MinnieMan,

1. Because Bottlecaps survived the nuclear blasts, while paper money didnt.

2. The world blew up, Secret Services and the FBI got obliterated as did the military. I suspect there are remnants but they've got bigger things on their hands than managing the dozens of hundreds of slavers thoughout the Fallout world. When theres chaos, things like slavery are bound to settle in, no surprise there.

3. See above, its the basis of Fallout lore.

Wouldn't the enclave count as governemant/FBI remnants?

As for the DLC content I only played the pit and operation anchorage. Out of the two, I preferred anchorage. I didn't really care for the pit. Once I finish Fallout NV, I'm going to go back and finish all the DLC and side quests for Fallout 3.

You do remember right...

Also the Fallout society was much more advanced on Nuclear energy than us, but otherwise stuck on the 50s' "World of Tomorrow" concept, with huge computers full of lights and the fision-powered cars

Didn't the remnants of the military supposedly become the BoS and the remnants of the government form The Enclave if I remember right?

The Enclave were a political party, or whatever you call them in the US, before the Great War. They only really came into power after the bombs had dropped because they knew the war was coming and sheltered themselves.

The Brotherhood of Steel were a tech-religious organisation before the Great War. Their goals were to invent new technology, but their goals shifted to preserving pre-war tech and others.

Well, the time where The Fallout world derives from our timeline would be just about when the FBI was created. So in the Fallout world they dont really exist afaik.

As for the Enclave, their the closest we have to that I suppose, but that was besides the point. If we consider that they are, he was pretty much asking why the enclave doesnt free all slaves, and destroy Pit/Paradise Falls. Which all things considered is abit ridiculous, not only do the enclave not have the manpower, but its simply not an Enclave goal at the time.

Actually the BoS was born when Military remnants came out of the Mariposa base when the radiation levels dropped, they became techno-religious later...

also Enclave wouldn't do anything to save people, unless they are genetically perfect, unaltered, humans

If i were you i would stick with the Fallout 3 DLC rather than moving onto New Vegas, sure New Vegas is a good game but it will never be as good as Fallout 3 or the F3 DLC.
