When and where do you start running into the mutated bear things Yuo somethings?

Not that long into the game, bloody hard to kill they are.

A shotgun blast to the face takes care of them.

Wow...I just did the initial GNR discovery battle. Goddamn that was a lot of mutants. It's a miracle I had so much ammo or I wouldn't have stood a chance. I burned through all my stimpaks, a good part of my ammo, and blew a bunch of mines/grenades. And the Behemoth! Scared the sh*t outta me when it barged through the cars, wrecking mayhem. I thought it was one of those Deathclaw things you guys have been talking about. When I heard the roar, I ran back into the school like a little bitch. Luckily, he got stuck behind a pole, and I took my time picking him off with weapon after weapon.

I'm in the station now and about to talk to Three Dog for the 1st time. I feel so victorious right now. I have substantial ammo, my money is slowly rising, and my armor is tuff. But I'm still trying to get to Underworld. I'm assuming the only way there is via the metro tunnels?

Oh, and there's quite a lot of glitches and bugs going on in this game. But I'm used to such things, so it's no real bother, but it's annoying when it interferes with the game. Buildings "vanishing", enemies "freezing", textures "jumping." Quite crappy.

Underworld entrance is in one of the museums. I think, never actualy went there.

I think I should start a new game, the wasteland is calling me to forget reality.

Ha yes the GNR battle, I also had the Behemoth get stuck behind a pole so I was taking potshots from the second floor of the school. I feel like it was a bit of a cheat but I wouldn't stand a chance any other way because he just takes you out in a manner of swipes if you get down to his level!

If you thought that battle was alot of Mutants, wait til the mission Three Dog gives you!

I finally ran into a Yao Gui and a Deathclaw all at the same time, the thing is I have the Animal Perk Lvl 2 so I witnessed the Yao ripping the Deathclaw a new one for me. I helped with a few shotgun blasts of course. tounge.gif

Yeah, I think I remember getting to Underworld was kind of hit or miss, because you do quite a bit of subway-tunneling, and it seems easy to forget where you've been, or where some of the subway exits are, but then again I go into every single door I find so it's easy to get turned around. It's just about in the middle of the ruins in the lower right side of the map.

On the glitches: I've had the game freeze on me once, and that's the only game breaking glitch I've had so far, but other than that it all seems pretty solid. I do kind of wonder why they even bothered to put the "jump" mechanic in, since you can't really jump high enough to matter. It helps to get you unstuck from places though, like when you're stuck between to tiny rocks, but not much more.

It's odd; I think I've reached boredom point with this game after 90> or so hours of gameplay. It went like this;

1st playthrough = did the storyline.

2nd playthrough = Did as many quests as I could and explored as much as I could (still kinda on that one).

Only yesterday I thought "I've done all the quests now (except for nuka cola challenge and 'You Gotta Shoot Em In The Head' which i was planning on doing in the new one) and reached level 20 so I'll start a new game"

I was doing it mainly for the achievements (Reached ____ with Good/Bad/Neutral Karma)...I escaped the vault and for some reason I didn't feel the same way playing it. I felt like it was getting old.

I might just return to my 2nd playthrough and collect the rest of the bobbleheads.

Heres a fun way to play the game;

Go out for a day, collect as much stuff as you can, do a quest or two, then go back to your house, put all your diff. types of stuff into assorted Lockers (eg. I had a Tool Resource cabinet next to my workbench, an Apparel file cabinet next to my bed, Refrigerator for Food, another cabinet for weapons and my Desk kept all my Pre-War Books, Pre-War Money and Cigarettes (excellent trading material))

Might trade this in soon, I think I've almost got all I can out of this game.

I made it to Underworld finally. Inner DC is f*cking insane, an utter battlefield. I had to bust out the flamer and toast some mutants.

I also checked out the lower hall in the Museum of History. I was overrun by a horde of ghouls, was quite overwhelming. How do you handle a whole group? Will the flamer suffice? And the mammoth in the museum is creepy for some reason. I kept waiting for it to come alive or something...

I got the lawbringer (?) perk, and I've collected 5 Raider fingers thus far. I'm hoping this'll be the end of being broke.

Have you found where the Regulators live? I've been collecting fingers like mad, but I haven't found the place to bring them to yet.

Another way to rake in some cash is to help "Reilly's Rangers" and after that you get money for every new location you discover.

The Regulators HQ is immediately placed on your map when you select the perk.

It's up north.

Is there anywhere you can sell items you pick up? I assume you can do so because they always state the value when you look at them and I keep overloading and having to drop some. There was a character outside Meagton once but he only sold items.

Uhhhh..... anyone? Jesus. I mean, go into any town and any business owner character will buy and sell things. Things work a bit differently in Fallout than you might expect. You have to access the barter screen through dialogue. Many characters, in conversation, have an option with something along the lines of "What have you got for sale?" Picking that brings up the barter screen. Just a word of advice: the number of caps the vendor has is the maximum they can give you for a transaction. When you sell things, the arrow in the middle will point to your side, meaning the NPC is giving you however much money is in the middle on the arrow. It is possible to sell a vendor a lot more than they will give you. If the arrow darkens out, that means that's as much as you're gonna get and if you keep giving them things, you won't get their value back.

You mentioned Megaton, so the people there that I know buy stuff are the chick behind the little food stand, the Ghoul in the Saloon, and Mora (that is her name, right?) at Craterside Supply, which can be reached from the town entrance by following the ramp on the right and it'll be the first shop on the right.

And just to avoid confusion: the value of the item is it's base value. Your barter skill and whether you're buying or selling will raise and lower the value to produce what you'll actually be giving or buying for.

When you get to Canterbury Commons on the mid-northeast edge of the map, there's a guy named Uncle Roe you can talk to about the traveling merchants. He's the one that also gives you the Superhuman Gambit quest. There's a caravan merchant for each basic group of loot. You'll have the opportunity to invest in one or all of their businesses to expand their inventories and caps available. I chose the weapons guy, Lucky Harith, and invested the max on him. Now he always has around 1100 caps, a much larger assortment of weapons and lots of ammo. You also get a map of the trade route so you can find the traders when you want to.

@Don - How's your sneak skill? Ghouls are an easy kill one by one. Just sneak up on them really slow and pop them in the head with an SMG, shotty or AR. Most go down in one shot. Even the glowing ones don't usually take more than two or three shots.

Oh, I know that. I was critical-sneak-attack killing them with the android's Plasma Rifle left and right in the tunnels to inner DC. My problem was that in the History Museum lower levels, they attacked me in a swarm. I entered the hall and heard gunshots, maybe raiders? Then I heard ghoul growls and proceeded in. I could see enemies on my HUD, but I had no idea there was so many. I fired at the first ghoul I saw, which was just a few feet in front of me. Immediately, he let out a scream and a whole damn flock ascended on me. Was quite cool actually, except for the being raped part of it.

Haha, OK. Yeah, I've been mobbed like that too after entering a new section of tunnel or building without going into sneak mode first or forgetting to turn off my light. The problem with the flamer is that they're still raping you as they burn to death. In those cases, I just used the shotty in VATS as much as I could and then blasted away FPS style until all were dead. I like my enemies to go down as quickly as possible.

I don't get mobbed/attacked anymore by ghouls since Roy Phillips gave me the Ghoul Mask.

Word.

I'll try again a little later today. My mistake was that I stopped moving. I allowed myself to be backed up against the entrance door and get mauled. But damn, there was a lot. I must just set up a line of mines and lead them to it.

Hello, awsome game... it looks like i'm nearly finished though... played for about 9 hours and i'm doing some lazor battles with the silly huge robot spreading irrelevent propoganda.

When you ctually do finish the main quest does that mean you have to start over? because that would be annoying

Yes, it ends. Credits and everything. So don't finish the game unless you're ready to, uh, finish it.

That's exactly what happens.

Do this, if you ask me:

You will get back to the Rotunda Room where Project Purity is. You will find Colonel Autumn and decide whether to kill him or not. Kill him, take his pistol (Because it does a HELL of a lot of damage) then leave the room, and roam the wastes doing what you want until you decide you want to end the storyline, because when you do you can head into the Project Purity room and make the final decision on what you will do.

Something I have found cool and interesting to do after having done the main storyline and explored everywhere while doing the main storyline, is do exactly that. Because the world changes so much, in function of what you do and as the main quests progresses. See what I mean? Go somewhere in the begging and go back later it might not be the same, there might be an enclave outpost there or something.

I just got through that place. You get rewarded with medic power armour down in the sewers, if you can make it past about ten deathclaws. The armour audibly tells you that enemies are near, and it was better than my enclave power armour.

Immediately after I left olney, I went to paradise falls, rather I fast traveled there, spawned inside the gates, and everyone started shooting me, so I shot back. This entire battle was the hardest battle I've faced so far. Maybe twenty or so slavers in that place, and they all had automatic weapons. You get karma for killing them all, and freeing the slaves is a mission, which I stumbled upon.

Gah, I gotta start exploring. I still have so much to see.

Also, is Megaton the only place I can get my own house?

It's either Megaton or Tenpenny Tower depending on your choice, but that's it. There are 161 total locations on the map that have blips. I've just now found them all. That doesn't include hidden areas, either.

Help me out please, I'm trying to get to GNR and have been wandering around the local area for ages and am finding routes block by destroyed buildings or other obstacles. I'm currently at Vukov's place and have set a waypoint to GNR but keep ending up in the same situation.

Damn, I haven't even scratched the surface. I think I only have 20-something locations on my map.

And I guess since I took the "good" path, my Megaton house is it. Well that's a little wack.

DAVE: I went through the same sh*t, you have to go through the Metro tunnels to get there. Underground man.

If you make GNR your active quest, your world map should show the route. You have to go through Chevy Chase, I believe.

I just broke 50 hours and I've barely done any of the main quest. I've only found 80 locations out of 161, but I think the house in megaton is the only place you can actually call your own, but you can really turn any place into your own place. I based myself out of a house in Minefield for the first 20 hours or so, because I wasn't able to disarm the bomb yet.

I think they named it after the city in Maryland actually, but funny reference nonetheless.

Is there a particular metro I need to take to get to GNR or will they all lead there? I ask as I have found 2 metros both with their share of monsters and items to find.
