Fallout 3

The car in Fallout 2 was amazing. I don't see how that could possibly 'ruin' New Vegas - I don't want to hike across what should rightfully be miles of desert between locations.

In addition to giving the player faster travel, the car is brilliant for item storage. I mean, at least a Brahmin - pulled cart, or some kind of mount, would be a great addition.

What would ruin it would be a lack of role-playing. I mean, the variety of characters you can play is what makes the Fallout series so f*cking fun.

Bullets should be weighted. In fact, you should physically see all of your gear, or at least a backpack, on your character. What makes the survival aspect of the game fun is the fact that you do have limited resources that you have to manage in real-time.

... items should also, occasionally, break beyond repair, and become junk like scrap metal or other base materials. Like, when you kill a guy by blowing him up with a nuke, his f*cking power-armor and weapons should be toast.

Oh, and your companions shouldn't have infinite ammo, either. That's just dumb.

I love you, man! That's just what the NEXT Fallout needs.

I just don't want it to turn out like FC2.

Running around in F3 is f*cking awesome, because there are interesting places and characters everywhere, but it still pulls off the wasteland atmosphere perfectly. A car would completely ruin that aspect, you'd just bulldoze through location's and...run over people?

F2 and F3 are both awesome games, but I don't believe them comparable.

Carrying a crapload of sh*t is what made F3 fun. Having 15 different gun's and using this here and that there was a big part of fun for me. Plus, walking around in the regulator suit for coolness and looks and then switching out to a combat armor when needed is also great.

You should try out stalker.

Suit's and the like are already pretty damaged when picked up off bodies generally speaking so I think that's represented fine. And I don't see what gameplay element or fun having unrepairable weapons would bring.

Companion's only have unlimited ammo for their own weapons first of all, and even then, it's not like their not complete vegetables, you can imagine them finding ammo and what not just like you do no?

I don't have the patience to pretend that my intelligence isn't being insulted. If characters are looting corpses, then have them loot corpses.

That kinda reminds me of the instruction manual for Mario Bros, when I was a kid. It said that shells bounce off of pipes, so look out! But they might not bounce back if the pipe isn't on the screen, because the shells may have jumped over them!. I mean, come the f*ck on. Even at ten years old I knew someone was taking the piss.

As for the car - hear me again. If New Vegas does what I hope they'll do, and vastly increase the size of the playing area, then a car, or some other lore specific vehicle, would be perfect for traveling from place to place. What's wrong about being able to kill people with your vehicle, by the way? They'd prevent your "just driving through all the challenges" argument, by using the special skills that got them hired in the first place - game design. You can't drive a car through rubble, open waterways, or myraid other obstacles. Traps can be set for vehicles, landmines can destroy them, etc. etc. Just think about this - if you had a car in the Capital wastelands, there's no way you'd get it into the downtown core. Or many of the other locations. Now just think if the game world was also designed around this. Tons of potential for fun.

As for carrying a ton of stuff - I agree, it's fun - but ammo counts as stuff. It's retarded that I can literally carry around 900 missiles. The conservation and limitation of ammo leads to a smarter, more strategic game - and one that still works well in the action-RPG genre.

This leads me, again, to irreparable items. I'm not saying that, over time of use, your gun should literally fall to pieces. I'm saying that if it's blown out of your hand, it should be done for.

Regarding the dusters; it's a shame that clothing can't be mixed and matched. A bullet proof vest would be great. There's also a lot of fun to be had with better balancing of the armor - perhaps Power Armor should drastically reduce stealth, or other stats along those lines. You should be able to look cool while still being afforded some of the protection of better armors - and there should even be bonuses for it.

Finally, I hope they make New Vegas feel more 'lived' in. The Capital Wastelands felt so bloody temporary - as if everyone moved in a couple weeks before you started playing the game. Don't you think someone would have cared enough to give their house a decent paintjob? Planted some crops, maybe? Tried on some scale to reclaim the environment? Even the people in Oasis slept on dingy cots. Are there no craftsmen left? No neat freaks? tounge.gif

i'd just like to have the ability to cancel VATS attacks whilst they are firing. it's really irritating fireing at a enemy's head whilst peeking out from a rock or around a corner only for it to somehow bounce off the rock/wall, when logically it should have gone fine.

the new vegas storyline is going to be dope, i think. i remember that i had a blast playing through new reno during fallout 2, and i hope that the themes will be similar.

I hate that. You think you have a really good chance on shooting the guy in the head, and it turns out that you clip the edge of a wall or something instead.

A way to cancel would be nice, but it really wouldn't make sense in gameplay. I wouldn't be able to tell until it actually hit the wall, and then retracting it at that point really wouldn't be realistic at all.

Still annoying, though.

Well I hope they focus on China after Vegas, I want to see what happens to that country after wars. Remember the quote from terminal in craterside supply in Megaton?

... China could be a fiction country
something like that.

Screw China. Ronto is where the next game should after new vegas.

Supposedly it is Toronto. Info

Who doesn't want to see mutant beavers and moose. Heck they could even have snow if the place isn't a desert like DC.

Heck I live near it too. tounge2.gif

And also in the fallout world Canada was part of the states. And add the fact that people speak English and not Chinese like in well, China.

I`m a bigger fan of 3rd person views, but tbh I don`t think not having full 3P mechanics detracts from the game one bit, Fallout 3 is a top notch RPG, not a character driven action game.

I also think weighting the ammo (thereby limiting it) would push the game more towards the horror genre - elements of which the game contains by weighting the weps and armour ...blah ...blah ...blah, I`M OFF! - to the Wasteland.

I don't have the patience to pretend that my intelligence isn't being insulted.  If characters are looting corpses, then have them loot corpses.

Fair enough, I'm just mentioning it's not that much of an upset, as having them pick up ammo for bodies would probably be hard to do.

The wasteland in F3 was quite big to start, it was made bigger by the lack of transportation. Which I good imo. I think vehicles would be a very bad idea, goes against the survival post-apocalyptic F3 atmosphere for me. I mean, would we see other people in vehicles? Just think about it, it would ruin it for me. I can just imagine a quest where you have to...race... Am I the only one horrified at the thought of that in the F3 atmosphere? Idk, maybe it it just me.

As for the part I highlighted in bold. It is probably VERY hard tomake it how you want it to be without making it completely useless. making that balanced is probably very complicated and time consuming. So better off not including it at all. I rather they spend the time and money on other things.

As for carrying a ton of stuff - I agree, it's fun - but ammo counts as stuff. It's retarded that I can literally carry around 900 missiles. The conservation and limitation of ammo leads to a smarter, more strategic game - and one that still works well in the action-RPG genre.

Making ammo have weight, would make it so that you need to sacrifice other weapon's and equipment in order to have enough ammo for fewer weapon's in order to play properly. Which fails.

This leads me, again, to irreparable items. I'm not saying that, over time of use, your gun should literally fall to pieces.  I'm saying that if it's blown out of your hand, it should be done for.

While more realistic, I believe that would pretty much make the game less fun. "Oh no, if I blow this guy up with the fat man, I wont be able to use his gun. I guess I'll just have to shoot him normally." No?

Finally, I hope they make New Vegas feel more 'lived' in. The Capital Wastelands felt so bloody temporary - as if everyone moved in a couple weeks before you started playing the game. Wasn't there a story in-game about planting thing's being impposible due to radiation and no clean water? I think it's mentioned somewhere, and would also make sense.

As for the rest I agree. Besides the organization of certain faction's and people, the actual houses seemed like they haven't been there as long as they should have been there. If that makes sense.

Well, the vegatables had to come from somewhere; the Brahmin have to eat something, so I wouldn't have minded a bit more atmosphere in that regard.

As for vehicles in the Fallout universe - did you happen to miss the helicopters flying around? tounge.gif I always think of Mad Max, first and foremost, when I think of the apocalypse... but maybe that's just me.

Again, it doesn't necessarily have to be cars that you use for transportation. I don't think people would enjoy simply walking to travel between safe points in a wasteland. Domesticated geckos, perhaps? Trained radscorpions? Or even modified robots. Hell, even a rudimentary rail system.

Don't get me wrong - I loved Fallout 3. It's just that the world has so much room for creativity beyond what we've now already seen in the Capital wastelands. What about gigantic beasts roaming the deserts? Etc.

You know when you play some DLC like Point Lookout and your companion can't follow. i.e Having Jericho makes him return to Megaton.

Where would/does he go if I blow Megaton up and then try and play some DLC?

I haven't blown up Megaton, but I'd guess he'd just die/disappear because he was a part of that little town.

I might be wrong, though, since I don't know what happens if he's a follower.

I haven't a clue tounge.gif.

But when you do set off to Point Lookout the game will give you an on screen message saying where your follower has gone. Could always save and see what happens and if it does f*ck up then you can just reload.

Oh, I just asked someone who went through this. Apparently, he just goes to the rubble .

I have no idea what that is, though. I'm not too far through Fallout 3 just yet. tounge.gif

Edit: Oh. The rubble of the town remains.

I'm not enierly sure where he goes, but i'm guessing he'll just wait outside the Megaton rubble for you, you could go to the Fallout Wiki and look.

Yeah, he just hangs out around Megaton.

Interesting glitch - he dies early on in my game, but when I left the map for Broken Steel, I got the message "Jericho has returned to Megaton".

Now, I haven't checked yet to see if he's hanging around, or if his corpse was air-mailed there for me. tounge.gif

I think VATS should be canceled when you are at "reload" because you may end up quewing shots with the dart gun at a deathclaw (happened to me) and then you get bored when the first shot hit and the rest are now useless)

And more about VATS, I think reloads should take AP and you should be able to spend AP outside of Vats, maybe to improve your accuarcy with a gun for a certain time or to reload faster, heck, maybe it could be used to make normal weapons automatic (as in you dont have to keep pressing, like your guy is shooting very fast)

One thing that bothers me tho, is that big guns dont have much accuarcy, and my big guns char is already having enough trouble to keep finding 5mm ammo at a faster rate than he spends it to worry about missing ALL misiles and missing mini nukes by quite a lot of distance (I aim better without vats lol, but they dont have enough zoom)

One thing I never understood, why are there motorcycle gas tanks with fuel inside when there's no fuel cars but radiation ones?

One thing I didnt like in the game tho was the DC Ruins, having them split in separate parts and no way between them (and those crappy 2d buildings, altho you get used to them) besides metros (I could find some solid but unsolid looking nooks on my first time to GNR), and metro ghouls should respawn, feels so boring going thru there with nothing to shoot at.

Also, which category do you think the Aliens in Zeta will be assigned to? I mean, the Swampfolk were "super mutants" instead of a new category, maybe they'll make a new one for them, or maybe not.

Re-installing the game and get rid any mods so I can get achievements now.

Maybe the Alien Robots or Alien Behemoth if they make them. lol.gif

It will awesome if they make Alien Behemoths

I see that Fallout 3 on Xbox.com has been updated to 1550 achievement points. Since 1750 is the maximum there's still space for two more 100 pointer DLC's.

Fallout 3 has been one of the best supported games regarding DLC and since it's an awesome game i would love for two more to get released smile.gif.

Sounds awesome.

Especially the Alien Epoxy.

Repair any weapon to 25%.

Dont know if you can use 4 to repair to 100 or its a single item that automatically lets you do it or they are multiple items you buy and find etc.

Only just got into the game and it's class, Dogmeat is in the scrapyard on route to minefield, a mission for the survival guide, you'll hear gunshots as two NPC's (One probably his old owner) battle it out when your near, he runs to you if you can find the exact area.

I wanted to keep him till the end but he got a bit too brave agaisnt a boss type thing on one of the missions.

R.I.P Dogmeat, I am not emotionally scarred I swear.

Yeah I lost Dogmeat too sad.gif I had been playing for about 6 hours without saving so I couldn't really throw that all away just to keep him. I lost Charon later on that day too. I save all the time now now, silly not to.
