1970's Grand Theft Auto.

The best setting for GTA would either be in Chicago or London in the 1970's. I think we've all thought about 70's GTA after seeing all those classic crime films from that era. I mean just imagine it with the cars, and the clothing, and just the nostalgia of the whole thing, I think it'd really be great.

Bullet was made in 1968 but yes the 1970's or 1960's would be a good change, Especially if it is set in the Carcer city area.

it seems only logical that they'd do 70's.

They've done 60's, 80's, 90's, 00's, and are doing 40's/50's with their game L.A Noire.

Plus, it'd be cool as hell having a 70's style character...70's clothing, 70's cars, 70's atmosphere...fk yeah!

But maybe, if they were to do it in the 70's,

do another new reindition of a city - San Fierro.

Dirty Harry, Bulitt...it'd be beautiful, man

I know they can't do it now because of GTA IV, but I always thought a 70's NYC would be sweet. The 70's NYC was one of the worst times in the city's history. Record numbers of people were unemployed, crime was at an all-time high, and gangs were everywhere. I think it would've been cool.

I've seen some things man, and some stuff. tounge2.gif FYI, it's from family guy.

I think I may be the only one who doesn't want a 70's GTA. I got bored of the 70's style in driver, I don't really want to see it again.

La Noire has nothing to do with GTA, the only connection is that Rockstar are the publishers of the game which is being made by Team Bondi and funded by Sony. Still I get what you mean, I just don't think you can discount the 40's or 50's because of that. Also the 60's don't need to be discounted either, it was only a basic expansion to GTA 1 remember.

The "french connection" has a good car chase in it and it was made in 1971, than theres "gone in 60 seconds" and lots more.

Disco is the best! cool.gif

But there have been so many games set in the 70's, good and bad, that it would just be thrown into the pile of 70 GTA wanna-be's, then this being called the supreme.

No 40's or 50's...Mafia 2 takes that (also Rockstar and 2K Czech are owned by take 2).

where is Carcer City?

mercie_blink.gif Its the city that Manhunt 1 is set in, it has also been referred to in the past GTA games.

I personally think that it is modeled after Washington DC, Detroit and/or Chicago

Carcer City is a city used in Manhunt, a non-GTA Rockstar game which involves a mass murderer named James Earl Cash. Carcer City is an industrial town with a corrupt police chief (Gary Schafer) and a snuff film director who apparently calls the shots in town. There are white supremacists, murderers, and other sorts of criminals and rogues who rampage through the streets of the city. Carcer City is most likely based off Newark, Detroit, Philadelphia or Cleveland.

It is mused that Carcer City would exist in the same fictional world as the GTA games, because of overlaps and references within them. According to a news segment from GTA III, Carcer city is "nearby" to Liberty city.

LOL its not a real place kiddies so don't worry lol.gif

I was always curious what Carcer City looked like, I may even rent Manhunt just to see what the city is like. If they made it for GTA it would be awesome if it were like Detroit or Washington DC.

I love the idea of a 60-70's San Fierro with hippies and anti-War protests and etc, that would be psychadelic. Then again 60-70's London would be cool too, just no Austin Powers bullsh*t. tounge.gif

This reminds me of that Driver game that was in the 70's. I personally think it was a horrible idea. I think keeping it current or only going back into the last 30 years. I like the 80's, I hope we go back to the neon lights, big hair metal, and the synthesizer songs.
