Carl Vercetti
Australia just might make the perfect setting for the ultimate Grand Theft Auto sequel. And here's why... It's an island. A gianormous island. Lots of big cities, famous landmarks and, of course, outback. Lots of great culture to parody and rife with potential characters. Every GTA game since III has referenced the Australian War, lol. So that could play a part. You could even be an australian war veteran or, better yet, it could be set during the Australian War where you play as... who knows what, give me some ideas. I just think it fits. And it would be the perfect contrast to IV's Liberty City, much like Vice was to III's LC. Thoughts? Ideas?
GTA3Freak-2001
I've heard it mentioned for each new GTA, its an alright idea but I don't see it happening any time soon. There are just things and jokes Americans just wouldn't get, the references and whatnot. Unless R* makes a game full of stereotypes for Australians but then the game would be set in the outback with cops riding roo's while throwing boomerang's while your Croc Dundee looking protagonist called Mick makes a getaway in a land cruiser. BigAmericanTitties
"There are just things and jokes Americans just wouldn't get, the references and whatnot." yeah, whihc is also why the game wont be set in england. but they could be like special editions. Blind Joe Death
From what you've said it sounds like as if you were saying it should take place in the whole of Australia, which is just ridiculous since it'd be way too big. If they ever made a GTA set in Australia they would create their own map with possible three islands and each island take off of a city or area in Australia. But yeah, I think it'd be a pretty good game if it were based in Australia. I don't see it happening though. Carl Vercetti
There are just things and jokes Americans just wouldn't get, the references and whatnot. I dunno. I think Americans are familiar enough with Australian culture to get most of it. Same goes with the UK, but I honestly think London would be relatively boring. Australia however could have a similar atmosphere to Vice City with the brighter colors and tropical vegetation. As for the whole of Australia... they did it with California... what I'm suggesting is that it's just a few big cities (obviously three isn't unconceivable) and some outback. And being the Next-gen equivalent to San Andreas, it could be appropriately larger... like maybe 4 cities and a much larger wilderness. All just crazy speculation, but it's fun. =)

krashdown
What about GTA: Underbelly yeah i'm sure that it would have a story line off that. It would be really good to have it in Australia but there is just too much desert and people from other countries still don't get our jokes and stuff (they think they do but they rarely do). We do have some great city's (Melbourne and Sydney) and lots of things to do and kill up and down the eastern seaboard perhaps they could make the desert considerably smaller and perhaps fill lake Eere to make it a huge lake or a Inland ocean. It would have to be a lot bigger map than what San Andreas was found this
BigAmericanTitties
it doesnt have to be exactly like australia. why not throw in stuff from new zealand? and the map doesnt have to be that big
NicVicious
mad idea but seeing as it owuld have to be a parady of australian culture i would hate to hear the sterotyped "stralian" accents that you hear on american tv could have a chopper reid character

mubd
A good thing about Australia is that it's like San Andreas with bigger spaces between cities. The spaces between the cities and towns can be just desert and bushland, not taking up much space on the disk.
greebo-man
I would'nt mind a nice Base jump off Uluru. Gaming systems could only accomodate all of Oz if it was heinously downsized. Nobody seriously would have fun driving across a true, to scale Australia, let alone West Coast (or even a full size NYC). It would be suitably downsized to fit the game's concept parameters and the physical capacity of the PS3 and disc (or xbox I guess..).

Mainland Marauder
Sydney might make a cool GTA city, but are we seriously talking about trying to put all of Australia in the game? Unfortunately I can also see this falling into the same cracks Freakeh mentioned - how many peds are gonna go around saying "G'day mate! Let's put another shrimp on the barbie!" You Can't base jump on Uluru. 1st of all its not steep enough so you will kill yourself 2nd the Aboriginals complained to the govenment, now you are not allowed to climb it as it is a "protected site"

Mainland Marauder
Quadruple post wah wah wah Reported, since you're being a twat about it. Initially this was only going to be a little friendly word of advice. Anyway, I zoomed in on the edit button so you can better see it, should you care to use it in the future. And I'm old enough to stay up late if I want to, thank you very much kiddo. 1st of all its not steep enough so you will kill yourself did you read the first thing I said, it is too steep Looks like you don't even remember what you said. Anyway, in the world of video games anything's possible...remember the sign in SA outside the "Big Pointy Tower" that said "NO BASE JUMPING?" AussieDude
Well. I dont think Melbourne is a good City. it is so San Francisco looking, Just like San feirro. I think it should be based off every city. It could have Sydney opra house/Bridge Adelaides' O-Bahn/ Opal Mines. Melbournes Trams/Broken Hills gold mines. Perths ..... Qld's Themeparks/Beaches. Darwins Great scenery/Wildlife/Eyres Rock( Uleru ), Which by the way is more of a Mound that a sheer cliff face. and Canberra Bloody Politions

It could happen. Most GTA's have been a stereotype of American culture. Or so i believe. If its not a stereotype then I feel deeply disturbed for America..
