...It's why I stress that even listening to Cannibal Corpse and the like, I am not so much a horror buff because it gave me nightmares growing up as a child, it's still very horrific... a site like ExtremeFuse caters to sex and violence, and it's readily available like YouTube. Don't say I didn't warn you though, I don't watch the gory vids there, just the...well, you know! <G>

Poor Budd Dwyer though.... I read a background on Wiki about that suicide...though he starts by thanking the Lord, then takes his life in the end, just makes you wonder how he got where he did in life!

Obviously didn't fear burning in Hell for eternity.

Wiki reported that his plan was to die while still in office so they [his family] got the money from his pension, if he was sent to jail he'd lose his finances.

i remember seeing that live...

Racing is a stupid "sport". They should outlaw it completely. I mean, all they do is spending millions and millions of dollars on a mindless activity. The concept of racing is moronic. All they do is drive around in circles for hours.

You know that you can say the same thing about any sport. confused.gif

Not really. Just F1 and similar sports. Motocross for example and rally are actually fun because they require more skill instead of just driving in circles in a closed area.

But the real sport IMO requires some muscle activity and in most cases a ball and team work.

Note: Golf is not a sport. It is just a mindless activity biggrin.gif

I wonder if anyone died playing golf now that I mentioned it. Maybe hit by a cart. That would be cool....I mean sad

2007: Jennifer Strange, a 28-year-old woman from Sacramento, died of water intoxication while trying to win a Wii console in a KDND 107.9 "The End" radio station's "Hold Your Wee for a Wii" contest, which involved drinking large quantities of water without urinating

WTH? is this real? how f*cking stupid can you get.

That's f*cked up, it's only a bloody Nintendo WII, not a konignsegg CCX. However, you still have to feel sorry

for Jennifer Strange, and what a weird name.

On 24 March 1975, Alex Mitchell, a 50-year-old bricklayer from King's Lynn, England, died laughing while watching the Kung Fu Kapers episode of The Goodies, featuring a Scotsman in a kilt battling a vicious black pudding with his bagpipes. After twenty-five minutes of continuous laughter Mitchell finally slumped on the sofa and expired from heart failure. His widow later sent the Goodies a letter thanking them for making Mitchell's final moments so pleasant.

I would not mind dying via the Goodies! biggrin.gif

The girl whose insedes were sucked out though made me sick, the rest were all right. barf8bd.gif

Football is just kicking a leather bladder around a bit of grass.

Rugby is throwing a egg shaped bladder around a bit of grass.

Rally is just driving round a muddy road.

Motorcross is just jumping over a few muddy hills.

F1 is just driving round a track.

Golf is just hitting a ball with a stick.

Hockey ^

Boxing is just a fight.

Swimming is just splashing around in water.

See? You can say the basics about any sport, but you have to look into it to get what it's about. F1 is about a close, strategic race at high speeds, and having the right set-up for the weather, pitting in at the right time.

Aaaanyway.

The lighting bolt stricking the football pitch one really got me, all 11 players instantly dead. I've heard about that somewhere before, it's not bullsh*t because it's sighted.

That Rasputin one sounds f*cking stupid though.

I've seen a video in Africa where a lightning bolt knocked around half a dozen players and a referee to the floor during a football match. Although they all survived and only suffered from minor injuries and obviously shock, it still freaked me out, the lightning bolt was so loud and powerful, it literally had them flying through the air with impact.

I feel that golf SHOULD actually be in GTA as a mini-game. Regardless of the gripe, we have a noted improvement in the dating concept from SA at the very least, and it needs more work, but I like how it doesn't center on the controversial aspects and you can play these with many age participants.

Regardless, that is a topic we can discuss in a different thread or even section of the forum.

Let's get back to death and destruction in society.

One of the things I missed here are those operating off shore drilling rigs that suffered failure (I seem to recall something on this on TV)... as well as those construction cranes in NYC... That's not a normal way to die either.

Struff Bunstridge

Speaking of electricity, it's all about those Darwin Awards:

All personnel stationed on an aircraft carrier are given safety lectures and demonstrations. In 1990, a First Class Petty Officer assigned to the mess deck was briefing new junior personnel on electrical safety. He showed them how to fill out a warning tag on circuits undergoing maintenance, and informed them that they were forbidden to work on the circuit until a second person had double-checked the tag and circuit. In a prime demonstration of why the rules were in place, he proceeded to open and grab a circuit that he supposed was de-energized, killing himself in front of 20 thunderstruck students.

Great use of the word "thunderstruck" at the end.

Might've been Piper Alpha. Just passed 20 years since that disaster, was all over the TV in the UK recently.

Sadly, that happened one too many times in the old days of F1. Watching Roger Williamson's March 731 burn to the ground at the 1973 Dutch Grand Prix as fire marshals stood around and did nothing is a very disturbing thing to see. Only person that was trying to get him out of the car was fellow driver David Purley. Safety in racing has come a long way since then.

If you watch those Extreme video shows here in the States, they cover crashes in any type of sport, air shows, biking, motobikes, cars, off road, boating...

Even Jetskis can be fatal.

I find it rather alarming that was 1977, many years after horse and buggy vs automobile, when people had some idea of the danger. Of course Ralph Nader referred to the Chev. Corvair as being Unsafe at Any Speed. I still laugh that off.

You don't think of the Corvair as a death trap.

I do think circle track racing is wasting fossil fuels so we need to do racing and alternative fuels!!

I saw one of those in England, similar to the tom Pryce one, I was shocked to see it on T.V.

Was on TV news last night, in fact, it's very fresh in the minds of citizens of my State. In fact, the laws and policies going into effect are lagging so it's what is keeping the story in the press.

I must say that Ricardo Lopez (Bjork Stalker) was the number one, mentally-ill obsessive and compulsive fanatic. Seriously. Just wow.

Of course, it seems the beheading and stabbing on the Grayhound bus could fit in my older topic, but I gather there are a number of gruesome assaults as well around the World, just not in non-war/combat areas like Canada and the USA.

You know...I really shouldn't have read this when I'm about to go to bed, but sh*t I couldn't help myself. The little girl is the most f*cked up of them all, IMO.

I'm actually surprised by that, TBH

I thought the race driver and track hand that got killed was equally bizarre, and the bus killing is pretty terrible, given it was not a natural accident!

I'm not too squeamish at things like that when reading about them. Of course, if any of the evvents were to unravel before my eyes, it'd be a different story. They are morbidly fascinating, and more so by the fact that people find them so.

Oh, and thanks to this topic, I decided to watch the Budd Dwyer vid... thanks for that. I didn't know there was so much blood in the human body.

I watched the opening segments, I am not sure I'm up to watching it all... I watched the Censored from TV or BANNED from TV series on video but not the Faces Of Death/Traces of Death stuff...that's too inhumane for my tastes.

Read about that TV anchor in the early 70s who shot herself dead on morning TV?? That went out live as well, but I don't think A LOT of people were watching that local broadcast. Still, I find it facinating in that 'observe the car crash' sorta way.

I've read a bit on that, her name is Christine Chubbuck if you want to read up on it and no, there's no video.

I suspect that tape, handed to police and destroyed? I forget, I did read that...some time back.

That was '73 or '74, pre-dating the VCR, but the most interesting thing to me, was the show she wanted to produce was being shuffled for the news that was proclaimed 'Blood and guts' that get the ratings up, and she said that just before killing herself that she was doing it on air because of the demand for blood and guts!

To kill yourself and that to be your last words on Earth?? It seems like a movie plot. She had some REAL emotional issues that were never worked out.
