GTA III Gang Guide

Lately I made a gang guide for GTA3 and thought I'd share it here.

Colombian Cartel:

Leader: Catalina & Miguel

Weapons: Pistol, Uzi and AK-47

Mission Weapons: Uzi, AK-47, M4, flame thrower

Turf: Fort Staunton, Staunton Island (until "Grand Theft Aero") / Cedar Grove, Shoreside Vale

Gang Car: Cartel Cruiser

Description: The Cartel are the main antagonist of gangs in GTA3. They attack you from the very beginning as you take control of Claude. Nicely dressed, well armed and dangerous. They are the biggest gang in the storyline once you leave Portland. Also the only gang with more than one turf.

Mission they start attacking you: Give Me Liberty (They attack you as soon as your spotted on their turf.)

Leone Family:

Leader: Salvatore Leone

Weapons: Pistol, shotgun

Mission Weapons: Pistol, Uzi, shotgun and AK-47

Turf: Saint Marks

Gang Car: Mafia Sentinel

Description: The mobsters of Liberty City, once they start to hate you it's just a dream to survive and go through their turf. They explode your car with two shotgun bullets. They drive Mafia Sentinel, you'll like the car nonetheless.

Mission they start attacking you: Sayonara Salvatore

Liberty City Triads:

Leader: Unknown

Weapons: Baseball bat, Pistol

Mission Weapons: Baseball bat, Pistol

Turf: Chinatown

Gang Car: Triad Fish Van

Description: The Triads are the first gang you get to deal with, cheap weapons not really hurt much but annoying when your in Chinatown. Their gang car ain't the greatest either. My favorite gang but may not be yours. Also the only gang besides the Cartel which you never work for.

Mission they start attacking you: Trial by Fire/The Pickup

Diablos:

Leader: El Burro

Weapons: Baseball bat, Pistol

Mission Weapons: Pistol, Uzi

Turf: Hepburn Heights

Gang Car: Diablo Stallion

Description: They don't have any involvement in the storyline but appear in a few side missions. Badly armed but randomly start to shoot you with pistols once you think your untouchable on top of a car. They are annoying when they attack you because they appear in a big group out of nowhere and start to knock you down with their bats. They do also have a nice modified Stallion that you might want to jack. Enemies of the Yardies.

Mission they start attacking you: Uzi Rider

Forelli Family:

Leader: Mike "Lips" Forelli

Weapons: None

Turf: None

Description: The once most powerful Mafia family is now in GTA3 the weakest family in the whole world. The gang members are the same as the Leone's in-game but they appear in a couple of Joey's missions and they're pretty much wiped out completely afterwards.

Yardies:

Leader: King Courtney

Weapons: Baseball bat, Pistol

Mission Weapons: Pistol

Turf: Newport

Gang Car: Yardie Lobo

Description: The Yardies are a bunch of backstabbing pricks. Some people like them, but mostly because of their gang cars as it's the only car in GTA3 with hydraulics. They don't have an involvement in the storyline but have their own strand in which they set you into a trap and have another appearance on another side-mission.

Mission they start attacking you: Kingdom Come

Yakuza:

Leader: Asuka & Kenji Kasen

Weapons: Pistol and Uzi

Mission Weapons: Pistol, Uzi, AK-47

Turf: Torrington / Fort Staunton (after "Grand Theft Aero".)

Gang Car: Yakuza Stinger

Description: A nice gang that will be your friend after the Leone's. They dress similarly to them. The Yakuza also own the best gang car, IMO, Yakuza Stinger. Once you slaughter the Colombians around the construction site in "Grand Theft Aero", the Yakuza move onto there and once you finish the storyline a gang war always happens where you can see the Yakuza and the Colombians kicking a gang war around the construction site. Why don't you take part and help them? They attack you if provoked but the one's around Fort Staunton might run away.

Southside Hoods:

Leader: D-Ice

Weapons: Pistol, Uzi

Mission Weapons: Baseball bat, Pistol and Uzi

Turf: Wichita Gardens

Gang Car: Hoods Rumpo XL

Description: The Southside Hoods are divided into two subgroups (Red Jacks and Purple Nines), they both help each other on gun fights against you if they see you. They don't appear in any missions officially except for the D-Ice phone missions. The only gang aside from Yakuza that doesn't attack you.

[iMAGE LIMIT REACHED, images of Southside Hoods will be posted in next post.]

That's about it, tell me if anything is missing and if there's any wrong facts.

Thanks to Rashon. for the fresh idea and inspired by his gang guides for LCS and VCS. I just liked it and thought GTA3 should also have a gang guide. Pictures taken with FRAPS.

The gangs guide that I made for my site (check my signature) is almost the same. But I haven't added mission when they start attacking you and the description is not so detailed. I just added most generaly information.

Nice site. I see your picture on the Cartel is when they are attacking you. But I made this guide for.. say 2 weeks ago or something.

LOL yeah, they look a lot like normal hitmen too. Also in case your wondering how the Cartel was just walking there and didn't attack me.

On the mission "Rigged to Blow" all the gangs are set to have no problems with you, and there I took my chance and took a photo of one of their guys walking in front of me.

Yeah, I know that but I was too lazy to get the mission. But I had luck because I was able to shot the both types of the gangs. And I think that you have to add logos as I made.

As OrangeGroveFamilies said, this topic deserves a bif of bumping.

What's the "Mission Weapons" section? Is it a list of the weapons carried by the gang members during missions? If it is, then it's wrong.

Cartel: I don't remember them carrying flamethrowers (I may be wrong), but I'm sure they carried shotguns at least during "Arms shortage", and maybe molotov cocktails because I took fire during that mission (maybe that's where it comes the flamethrower thing).

Leones: they use M-16 during "Under Surveillance", not sure if mission-specific Leones ever carried shotguns though.

Triads: they use Uzis during "Triads and Tribulations".

Diablos: I can't remember any moment where I was attacked by a Diablo with a pistol, not even on freeroam.

Yardies: not sure if the dealers during the last of Kenji's missions carried pistols or Uzis, I'll have to check it.

Yakuza: one of them carried a M-16, if I remember well, during "Waka-gashira wipeout".

BTW, I can't see the Cartel Cruiser pic.

The Cartel USE flamethrowers. have you ever played the mission "The Exchange"?

The Diablos carry weapons during "Shima" which is a mission you do for Kenji. Plus they use pistols when you jump on a car. Two Cartel's use flamethrower during the last mission and they carry ALL of the GTA3 weapons available at some point.

They are two. One of them is on the bottom level near the Barracks OL parked, alongside one with AK and another with M16. Then the other flamethrower wielding guy is one of the two guards standing next to Maria.

I think I killed both guys before they had a chance to attack me first time I completed GTA 3. I'm replaying it at the moment so I'll pay attention when I reach that mission.

The Diablos only use Uzis during "Shima", not pistols. That car thing seems very, very weird to me but I'll try it anyway.

BTW, I think the Cartel actually don't use the Sniper Rifle, not sure about grenades and molotov cocktails.

Which of them uses the flamethrower?

I've done the mission lots of times but don't recall ever getting burned.

Maybe I shoot them too quickly biggrin.gif

OK, just read the later post. Yes, I kill them long before they can flame me.
