If R* is smart then they aren't gonna do another gta london since there are too many games london related (the getaway and gangs of london for example). still it wouldn't be bad a gta situated in these places:

Portugal (my country has many dangerous "barrios")

Spain (with a mini game bull related)

France

Australia

Hawaii

Now i'll say why my next choices can't be used

Brazil (Counterstrike got banned there due to a map related with their "favelas" where a spec ops team had to rescue some VIP's from criminals)

Korea (Mercenaries got it covered)

Bolivia or simillar countries (Boiling Point: Road to Hell)

Tropical islands or Cuba (FarCry, Just Cause and the upcoming Motorstorm 2)

Italy (Driv3r)

I don't know other countries that are "sensible" to this game or have games based on them

Driv3r didn't take place in Italy. It was set in Miami, Nice (France), and Istanbul (Turkey)

I reckon they should make the game based on a remote country like texas or arizona

I think Carcer City would be the best because it's a place we've never been to and part of the challenge of the game would be to survive the streets with gangs.

They need to redo San Andreas but make it set in Detroit, murder capital of america. It would be darker and deeper than San Andreas.

I voted Vice City

Do you think they could fit San andreas on to a disk with the same quality graphics as IV?

Anyway, the least one I would want is a futuristic city, seems weird

One last thought.. They could do the whole country of New Zealand tounge.gif

Gangsters could be sheep and you could be the farmer

I'd say either Carcer City (as a cross-over, show it's in the same universe and it would be a challenge because it looks quite cool?).

With SA, I'd only like that if they sorted the wasted land out, I mean nearly half of the area of each island was just woodland or desert which in my eyes, was a waste and it could of been put to better use.

Now, if it goes to VC, I'd like to see that a bit bigger, and an extra island or 2. In my eyes VC had a lot of potential but it was just way to small.

I don't think the UK or Europe should be used, as others have said - GTA is a massive pisstake on America. I'd like a new city to be made also, Using several characters in GTA 4 in the new one could be good. If it is a sequel I'd like to see you play as Packie trying to make a name for the Mcreary (sp?) family in a different city, because he went on quite a lot about how his family used to be the best in LC.

Anyways, that's just my opinion.

I suggest Baltimore/Washington DC area. That way I could visit my house! But seriously, those are two of the grittiest cities in America. If you're hellbent on leaving America, however, Thai hookers are legendary.

For some reason everyone is saying either Vice or SA, to me this lacks imagination from forum members & if they get made Rockstar... Don't get me wrong I loved those games & i'm sure Next gen versions would great fun, but i'd be really disappointed if they re-hashed the old cities, that's the sort of sh*t i'd expect from an EA takeover, whack out a new city & same old story line in time for xmas each year.

What I want to see is Evolution in the series, IV laid the ground work but wasn't as evolved as I'd hoped, It was beautiful though.

I live in London so would love to see a game here, but that's a biased view. I'm not sure how it would work as London isn't on the coast, but there's plenty of water canals etc, anyway who knows what next I just hope it's not a re-hashed city & i'd like to see the series out of the US. Maybe the DS announcement of 'China Wars' will breed a bigger high-def brother for the 360 & PS3?

London/England is a wild shot, but i really wish it could confused.gif

But second choice defiantely San Andreas, That map was amazing, with the graphics and things added, could be without a doubt the best Map ever.

In my opinion it would most likely be Vice City, GTA IV was based on 2007/8, Vice City would now be around 1995, while San Andreas (if it comes out), would be 2000ish.

They might make Vice City bigger to include more cities, and (in my opinion) it also might have an island imitating the West Indies and might include some reference to Little Jacob before he came to Liberty City.

Just a guess though biggrin.gif

EDIT: Actually it can even be a modern day Vice City, GTA IV has a lot of references to Vice City (during the modern age), like the drugs being smuggled in from Vice City on speed boats, the "Vice Squad" wall markings etc.

This is why EA makes so much money off of people who are content to play (and buy) the same game over again. If people after six years are that nostalgic for Vice City, play Vice City. Or VCS.

The cool vibe that Vice had is lost IMO if you take it out of the '80s, and I don't think the palm trees-and-pastels thing is going to hold up as well the third time around in less than 10 years. Maybe later. I still say it's time for something new and fresh, but since there is no San Andreas Stories (and I doubt there will be one) I'd rather see SA redone first over Vice. Some real freeway chases and better police AI would be great - this isn't so easily pulled off in Vice which didn't really have freeways (although if remade I guess it could) They can put an entire, next-gen state on a Blu-Ray if so. icon14.gif

Look, no offense at all, but you are one of the many people that believe that things about games and movies are appealing on their own, they are not, what made them appealing was the direction and the creation that all the artists and directors at R* brought into the game, no matter what story you have, no matter what weird character you have, if you find the right angle and approach, it will be a success.

Or, on the flip side, you're one of the few people who disagree?

I'm with Mainland Marauder. If there's one thing GTA games have, it's great settings. Setting in this case isn't just location - the time period is crucial. Vice City wouldn't be... well, Vice City, if it weren't for the 80s. The fashion, the pop music, the cars... It just wouldn't be right if the time period was changed. It'd be like ripping the heart out of something, leaving you with just a shell.

You're missing the point, settings, time and location are peripheral, what matters is HOW you handle all of these things, if you do it right, you will succeed, if your argument was right, then CSI: Miami wouldn't have lasted more than a season, not that it's a great show, but it deals with the contrary settings of VC, and yet it suceeds because it's done right, it doesn't matter what kind of story or characters or location you have, if you exploit it properly, you will make a masterpiece.

...except that setting, time and location made the original VC what it is. Without it, all it would have been would be a Scarface ripoff.

Vice's success relied heavily on A) nostalgia for people who remember 1986 or something of a peek into mid-80s life for those too young to remember it and B) borrowing liberally from the plot of a popular movie. It almost seemed like something a game maker turns out when it goes for a licensed property it can't land, then makes something to imitate it. Tony turned into Tommy, but the mansion hardly hid its inspiration. Don't get me wrong, I love Vice City and I know Justin does too but the same old formula's probably not going to work again. I can only see and hear so many gags on mid-80s pop culture, fashion and such before it just gets tiring. Big goofy hairdos. lawlz. Huge honking cellphone. Har har. $500 CD players hawked by ads that say "they play little records." Absolutely slaying me. Phil Collins.....yes, methinks that's where the whole 80s Vice thing jumped the shark.

On its own, Vice isn't a very good GTA city. You really couldn't have a proper high-speed chase in all but a few straightaways. It also seemed small (even compared to GTA3's Liberty City) but maybe that was because the whole map opened for you relatively early compared to the other 3D GTAs. You really can't make it all that big in current gen, because Miami itself isn't really all that big of a city.

It's not that I ever want to see a new Vice, but I'd be willing even to wait for it on PS4/XBox 720 or whatever's next. The GTA series hasn't really blazed any new ground setting-wise since SA, and that was almost four years ago. By next year or 2010 it'll be time for something new, someplace GTA's never been before.

If it stays in the US, I'd like to see Chicago or Houston. If it leaves the US, then London or Hong Kong. However, I've always looked at GTA in large part as being a British parody of American culture. I'd really like to see several cities that can be traveled between (including VC, using airports to travel) but realistically I am not expecting that in the next one.

the best thing they could do is mix all the cities theve already done (liberty City , vice city, san andreas) and maybe add like a washington d.c and have a diff story line to each one. so that when ur done the story you can jus like get on a plane and fly to a diff city and just goof off

How about a GTA/Manhunt hybrid in Carcer City, Grand Theft Auto: Carcer City. You play as an escaped convict on death row (opening scenes). You breakout with 3 fellow psychopaths, Lots of stealth-based killings in the dark with plenty of GTA-style action and car chases.

It's all about planning and arranging an escape from the USA along the lines of prison break with an x-marks-the-spot big money scenario along the same lines. Perhaps the first part of the game is all about escaping Carcer City on foot with some occasional car chases/san andreas-style scripted-vehicle-shooting missions from the car (co-op also available in multiplayer). Carcer City this time is a detroit/chicago hybrid ala GTA2 neo-futuristic dystopian vision.

It starts with the escape at night from the penitentiary through an industrial estate/through the center of town/through the suburbs (ala Manhunt 2) and into the rustbelt countryside (ala Manhunt/San Andreas). The game only really becomes open-world after escaping from Carcer city and into the metro-area.

Perhaps after finishing the main game the free-roaming element is set in central america, where you can do minigames like taxi fares, pizza boy etc, and some scripted missions

Exploring of Carcer City this way could only be done through multiplayer.

Edit: The Carcer City metro-area portion could be set around the backstory of each escapee. 1 convict wants to infiltrate his old neighborhood and reconvene with his family, 1 convict has a big money scheme and the other one is the brains behind the operation arranging the escape plan stages.

Not that a GTA set in Carcer City would be bad, and some features can go from one game to the other, but I still want the game to feel like GTA rather than Manhunt. If I want to play Manhunt, I will.

Some more ways to do stealth kills would indeed be nice...but that's veering a little off-topic here.

I'm really hoping for an expanded San Fierro, with a 70s setting.

Just imagine all the muscle cars, flying down the big hills. Afros, flares and sideburns, everywhere.

This would f*cking rock.

HOWEVER, I think it will just be Vice City in the 80s again sad.gif
