The main reason dealers, or, well, moreso the growers contaminate their weed is just to make it heavier, not addictive (for recurring customers) or a better high (again) but simply so they get more money per stalk by adding weight with tiny glass balls, sand, which to be fair are not THAT bad, provided you use a bong and they get stuck in the water. But to smoke a joint and take in glass shards? You may as well smoke asbestos. It's cheaper. But the real bad guys put oils and varnishes in their weed. You can't see them but next time you smoke youre weed, pinch the ash from the bowl and rub it between your fingers with a small bit of saliva... If they're black like suit then I'd stop buying from that person, he's probably filling you full of lovely cancer inducing CFCs. This is exactly why that on the 7th when I next get paid, a lucky website will be getting an order for some seeds. I prefer to smoke cannabis to ronseal. Interesting. Thanks for the info. Usually my ash turns out a greyish-white. Looks like any other. I'll do that experiment next time I'm smoking. I'm kind of partial to bongs anyway, even though it's less economical as the water traps some of the THC. I just like doing a nice long bong rip. As far as I know, it was a big problem in the UK a few years back, but I've never heard of or encountered anything strange here in North America. As for the "ash test," I can't see how it's really reliable, as the ash of bud usually contains resin, which is black and will stick your fingers while the white ash is wiped away. I haven't encountered any bud that didn't leave black on my fingers if I touched the ash, but I guess the difference much be pretty big if they're using stuff you seal decks with. I think the glass is also an attempt to mimic THC crystals and make the weed appear to be better quality. They can rip up your windpipe and lungs. I actually got most of my info on it from my regular dealer, who's a big cheery Indian fella. He said that it's almost entirely Chinese-headed dealers that are doing it, and I'm so paranoid that I've heeded his advice and only buy from white, black and South Asian guys. What I'm wondering is how you might detect it if you suspect this. For one, if you're taking a drag from a joint while lifting your tongue toward your palate (roof of your mouth) wouldn't you feel tiny bits of glass in the smoke hitting your tongue? Or do an experiment where you roll a joint with a filter, then smoke it. The glass shouldn't burn, but wouldn't it collect at the filter in the process of smoking? Smoke it to near-finish, put it out and then rip the remnants open to inspect, and I wonder what you'd find. I'd also think that if you examined your herb with a magnifying glass, it would be easier to tell the difference between "THC crystals" (trichomes) and tiny bits of glass or some other foreign substance. In any case, if you think you have something contaminated, there are ways you might find out whether it is. I've never known to have anything like this, but about eight years ago I got a bag that smelled and tasted like soap. It was bad, and I ended up throwing it out. Only time I've ever done that. He said that they looked like very small glass balls, but they melted, and were very heavy. It caused a lot of speculations about what they were made of, but it was very clear that it was being used to add weight and appeal to the weed. Among all of this, the best way to determine if you had this in your weed came out: Grind it very finely. Apparently this stuff did not stick to the wed very well at all, and some people were saying they didn't even have to grind, just shook their buds in the bag and these small glass balls fell off at the bottom. I'm sure that dealers caught wind of this and thought it sounded like a good idea, and are probably using something like glass now though, so i wouldn't really feel safe about the whole thing. My friend once picked up weed, about a half ounce and started smoking it, seen him the next day and his tounge was all shredded up and his throat was f*cked because the weed has tiny little bits of glass laced in with it.
