I agree. I think Sag might not have considered that most of us in here wouldn't shoot up with a needle even if we were given the drugs for free.

If the solution is 25mg/mL and you dilute it with a shot and a half of water (say 45mL) - exactly how many mL of undiluted morphine is that in 5 syringe fulls. I'm guessing a syringe holds ... hell I don't even know ...

A lot of it depends on your body weight. Also, the morphine wasn't diluted to begin with, he diluted 25 mg in a shot and half of water. According to Wikipedia, the size of a single shot in the U.S. is 45 mL, and he did a shot and a half, so that's about 2.7 mg/mL.

 

On to the question of how much would kill you...

 

The LD50 for rats is 335 mg/kg and for mice 745 mg/kg. If you don't know, "LD50" is the dose at which 50% of the test subjects it was administered to die. If you use this rate for humans ( a bad idea, yet still done ) then a 175 pound man could technically have a 50% rate of surviving with a dose in the range of 26-69 grams of morphine.

 

The big problem with that is that, the amount varies greatly between rats and mice themselves, and certainly with humans. Still the lethal dose of morphine is quite high, though not nearly low enough that any sane person would try a dose anywhere near 26 grams, but 25 mg should be just fine, so long as it's pure morphine.

 

 

No one should assume a dosage is safe given the LD50 value. It's important to remember that, the LD50 is the rate at which 50% of the test subjects die. In other words, the doses at which 10%, 20% or 30% die are disregarded. If you really want to take a 10%, 20% or 30% chance with your life be my guest, but unfortunately they don't give out the LD10,20, or 30 on white papers ( though they still note them in study ). In conjunction for this, the fact that the rates vary widely from one animal to the other, means that the LD50 should never be trusted or used when measuring a dose.

That question is f*cked up. 5 syringe fulls of a 25 mg/ml solution would be 25*5 mg of morphine, but without actually increasing the total amount to over 25 mg, the amount taken wouldn't change. The volume into which you dilute it is negligible, unless it exceeds the volume of the syringe. The only thing that changes there is whether you take 100+ mg in one load, or in several.

No, I don't do any of this crap, I just know a few things about toxicology. No one should use LD50 rates to measure out a recreational dose. Always test the waters with yourself to realize your own tolerance. On top of that, those LD50 rates are for oral ingestion; they don't cover intravenous or rectal applications. The amount needed to OD intravenously is probably much smaller.

To expand on what Sag said...

 

Everyone is different and tolerance plays a big part in it. My standard dose of the opiate pills I consume is usually around 30 mg given what it is, give or take 10 mg. With stronger opiates like Oxycontin 20 will work very well for me, with something weaker like Hydrocodone I usually will do will with a bit more. I've taken 40mg of oxy orally and felt great for awhile but almost threw up hours later, not a fun feeling. However, I could've taken much more than that and not have died.

 

Tolerance is a big factor. I take opiates irregularly, it's expensive and not very easy to find. But if one has a constant source and abuses it constantly, like me for instance, I would soon find that 30 mg wasn't doing it. And if the abuse persisted, like it does for many people, I might need hundreds of mgs just to catch a buzz. Hardcore opiate addicts would wipe their ass with what it take to make me feel completely blown.

This sh*t we got in Germany was so strong... It had to have been laced with some sort of acid or it had a huge amount of TCP in it... Even a friend of mine who smokes regularly said it had to have been laced because it was just not natural...

When i was a smoker, i smoked pollen many, many times. I never once had any hallucinogenic side effects like the ones you have described, so i'd say yes, your pollen was most likely laced with something. This is by no means a 'normal' effect of smoking pollen

I'm pretty sure pollen is completely void of any psychoactive properties. Hence why you never grow male plants to smoke.

 

As for it being laced with LSD that's a myth, as the burning temperature of weed destroys the compound. Same with psilocybe and most other hallucinogens. God knows what it is you smoked, probably just hash that kicked your ass.
