Rudi Johnson to Detroit? Wow i really guess that the Bengals want to lose this yaer then. Ok there pass offense is strong enough, but what about the ush. Yey Chris Perry is a decent back, but i believe hes more of a dual - back than a stnd alone back.

Kenny Watson.

He filled in admirably for Rudi Johnson last season, so they're most likely going to do what many teams are doing now and have dual running backs. As long as Chad Johnson (I'm not calling him Ocho Cinco) and TJ Houshmandzadeh are healthy the running game doesn't have to be incredible. Watson and Perry, I think, will do fine. The NFL is a "what have you done for me lately" business, yes, business. Rudi Johnson has had very good seasons with Cinci but they might be fearing more injury to him and believe that what they have in place now will be more than sufficient, which I think it will be.

Rudi won't do anything in Detroit, that line is a mess, nobody has been able to run the ball on that team since Barry Sanders left, and this offseason they lost at least one offensive lineman, Damien Woody, to the Jets. So I won't expect much from Rudi Johnson, especially with they way they pass the ball in Detroit. Yes, I expect them to still pass the ball a lot even though Mike Martz is in San Francisco because they saw how successful they can be at it last season.

I don't know if it's been mentioned here, but Byron Leftwich is now a 2nd string for Pittsburgh.

I think his career as a starting quarterback is over. If he couldn't make the team in Atlanta than you know that he most likely will not make it anywhere. Miami didn't look at him, San Francisco didn't, Atlanta let him go, Green Bay didn't look at him as a back up, so yeah, he's done.

New York 16 - 7 Washigton Redskins.

I have to admit i only caught the first half and from what i saw it was a decent game. But from the half i saw the redskins offense wasnt really, how cand i put it good. However i cant judge them on a half of football.

Oh thats one right for the pick'em. icon14.gif

Yea, it sucks for Caligangster and DOOM! because they didn't put in their picks and once the first game of the week has been played, there's no picking for the rest of the week. So remember to put your picks in atleast a week or two ahead, its better to have something than nothing. icon14.gif

EDIT - Then again, there's going to be one week that won't count; your lowest score. Everyone is still in game. biggrin.gif

Daunte Culpepper retires from the NFL:

http://blogs.nfl.com/2008/09/04/culpepper-announces-retirement/

Daunte Culpepper contacted the NFL Network's, Adam Schefter, and announced his retirement from the NFL. The letter he wrote can be read at the link provided above.

I'm surprised at this mainly because I still think that he is capable, when healthy, not healthy like in '04, he is probably better than a number of the current starting quarterbacks in the NFL. I think that a team, other than the Packers, should have made an offer to him. The 49ers couldn't have lost anything by bringing him in to see how he would do in their offense, hell maybe even check back with Minnesota because Tavaris Jackson is not the best quarterback or game manager in the league. Culpepper saw some success but after that horrible knee injury he was just never the same. It's a sad day for him, and even though I didn't like him on the Dolphins I still feel bad for him because you know he most likely can still play and you know that he really wants to play.

Wow did I really pick Washington....? Oh well.

decent opening game but washington were just unbearable. fair enough it's a new offence but it just seemed to be failing at every position. if a quarterback is coming into a new team or a new system then it's always helpful to have a good running game to sit on while he gets up to speed, and all credit to clinton portis but the blocking was terrible. the line was collapsing all over the place, making him change his route, taking away his momentum and any power he had to break tackles. on the other hand the giants gave their back (whose name i've just forgotten) plenty of room to run, and when you give a guy like him or Portis enough space they'll take out at least one defender.

Plaxico had a great game and Eli was looking a lot more confident in the pocket, i couldn't count the amount of times he stood his ground and got a perfect pass out with a defender steaming right at him.

I was surprised when i first heard this. Daunte is still a great QB, is he still a starter maybe on the right team but he would of been a solid backup. However perhaps he got backup offers and turned them down because he still wants to be a starter i dont know. If i were a team like the 49ers or even the Falcons i would of treid to get Daunte as a backup, because with the Falcons if Ryan doesnt perform i would rather have Daunte as a backup rather than Redman. Or he could of even gone to the Packers if he really wanted to stay in the league..

Well it looks like Brady is on thin ice to come back from his injury. Could be season ending.

I'll catch highlights for the Panthers/Bolts game on Sportscenter. tounge.gif

My Ravens surprised me in week 1. Flacco is our new savior, and he was amazing. Matt Ryan did great too. It's a good week for the rookies. Not for Brady though.

And that sucks for me, since he's on my team. I got assraped and left for dead this week, it'll take a miracle to comeback.

My other league team is going to have an easier season. tounge.gif

i only caught the highlights but it looked like flacco had a great game, the bengals o-line was terrible though, Palmer was running for his life on nearly every play.

how about Turner in Atlanta? he tore the place up, i think he's gonna be a bit of a surprise this season. I still haven't seen the highlights of my Jets win over miami except for Favre's hang it and hope play but hey, a win's a win and a good start.

EDIT: it's official, Brady's out for the year, the AFC east just became a whole lot more even.

Well if the steelers beat them this year, I know I will hear "Oh they only won because Brady is out..."

First person to say that is gonna get punched in the face I swear to f*ckin god.

apparently Chris Simms will be signing for the pats over the next few days, a longer shot would be for culpepper to come out of retirement. hopefully the Jets can take advantage of this situation for next week and start 2-0, but Brady didn't win those superbowls on his own.

you were right to use the small print thatsoccerguy, the cowboys dominance is a bit of an oil and water thing this year, personally i don't think they're even going to win the division, and for the NFC superbowl team i'm going with the vikings all the way.

Yey ive done alright to this week with my team, mostly thanks to Michael Turner. icon14.gif

Kinda surprised by a few results in Week 1 (so far) i have said here that i thought Matt Ryan would be good for the Falcons, but how the hell have the Falcons pulled a victory like that out of the bag. Yes great play by evryone on that team yesterday especially MT. Also shocked by the Bears beating Indy, i mean Indy just dont normally lose there first 10 games of the season never mind the opener.

Man, I was pissed that my Colts lost last night, but the f*cking Bears looked excellent out there on the field. I can see that they are going to be a much better team this year. As for the Colts, we didn't look as good as we should. We'll win next week though.

I expected the Jets to beat the Dolphins. Good game and good to see that Farve still has it. Dolphins look like they can be a stronger team this year. Let's see.

The Eagles also looked f*cking great out there, just trampling over the Rams with a 38-3 victory. Eagles were great defensively and offensively.

Just got from NFL.com, and Brady's out for the rest of the season. That's a big loss for the Pats, obviously.

What do you all think aboud Chad Johnson legally changing his last name to "Ocho Cinco"? I understand that he's a grown man and can do what he wants, but that is dumb as hell for a last name. Oh well.

Yey but even though he has changed it he still has to wear Johnson on his back, and the play by play coms still have to call him Johnson. For some reason the NFL has said this. I think they dont want him to be known other than Johnson, why maybe its Roger again tryin to prove hes top dog. I think players should be aloud to call themselves what ever they want its there name that there going to have to live with.

I'll take back what i said about the cowboys, just watched the highlights of their game and that offence is looking great. i think as the season progresses and Jones gets some more carries then their running game will cause a lot of trouble for defences. The eagles and giants were both looking awesome though, that's looking like one of the toughest divisions this year but i doubt the redskins can contend.

Maybe, maybe not. I think this is where we find out who the real genius of the Patriots these past seven years really is/was: Tom Brady or Bill Belichick. I think it will be interesting this season to see how well the Patriots do without Brady, so we can see how important (or replaceable) he is.

Also, looks like another typical season for the 49ers. sad.gif

Also, 7.5k.

I did, and yeah the last moments were awesome.

As for Tom Brady, I think the Patriots will still make the playoffs, because they still have Randy Moss and company.

I guess they feel like this is only a ruse and that they don't want to condone his theatrics. Personally, if the man went through the system to change his name he deserves to be called what he wants. I think it's a bit disrespectful to say "Oh, if you wear anything but your last name on your jersey there's a fine." but then he changes his name and he STILL can't get what he want on it? What assholes.

Also what was that sh*t with T.O. That was probably the most tamed celebration ever, people get so bent out of shape so damn quickly. Annyway my Cowboys are doing the damn thang this year. I can already see it.
