kevin2006rhs
I don't understand whats so dirty about that hit either, looks like he led with the shoulder, and it was just a hard hit. ^I'm talking about Hines Ward, in case anyone is asking themselves. Have they forgotten that football is a hard hitting game? Yeah...in the past month or so, his rap as the "dirties player in the NFL" has caught up with him. This isn't his first fine this year either. This whole "hard hit/bad hit" fining issue has prompted Polamalu to come out and say that it has become a "pansy game". Here is the article: This is amazing. Troy Polamalu, star of stage and screen, is a rare breed in the modern day NFL player. He never complains and never makes excuses, grinds like a maniac on every down (even though I feel like he overplays in certain instances), and loves babies, animals and the elderly. Today, he said this regarding the NFL dropping fines on a bunch of Steelers players recently: I think regarding the evolution of football, it’s becoming more and more flag football, two-hand touch. We’ve really lost the essence of what real American football is about. I think it’s probably all about money. They’re not really concerned about safety. It just loses so much of its essence when it becomes like a pansy game. When you see guys like Dick Butkus, the Ronnie Lotts, the Jack Tatums, these guys really went after people. Now, they couldn’t survive in this type of game. They wouldn’t have enough money. They’d be paying fines all the time and they’d be suspended for a year after they do it two games in a row. It’s kind of ridiculous. And of course he’s right. The NFL has had a cheerleading skirt on QBs for many years, now it’s putting one everyone that Hines Ward touches. Ward was fined twice in two weeks on plays he was not penalized for. Admittedly, the first fine, for a play against Baltimore, was levied due to a taunt after a big crack-back block, not for roughness, but it still sucks. Everything Polamalu said there is 100% Grade A Ground Chuck true. Source
tony da boss
They fined Hines for that?!? Wow. It was a block that actually helped the ball carrier get a few extra yards, is he not allowed to do it because he's on offense or something? Edit - Mike Nolan just got canned. I'm guessing the Rams have inspired them? Edited October 21, 2008 by TDP992
Capricornus
Whoa. I can't beleive that the Cowboys, America's Team, get their asses beat by the Rams of all teams. Man, they lost their last three games to teams that they are supposed to be better then. They lost to the Skins, then the Cardinals, and then the Rams. I have a lot of love and respect for the Cowboys, but man, can't beleive they are losing like this. They'll bounce back though. I am pissed that my team, The Colts lost a-f*cking gain. Damn, we are not looking like a team that won the Superbowl in 2006 (Superbowl XLI). f*ck. I love my Colts, and I still have faith, but it looks like we won't be getting too far this season. What's going on with Mr. Ocho Cinco and those Bengals? 0-7 they are now. Any of you guys think that they'll end up like last season's Dolphins? Titans 6-0. Very happy for them, didn't expect this from the Titans. Obviously, if they continue at this rate, they will go to the Superbowl.

I'm guessing the Rams have inspired them? Just where in the hell have you been there, handsome? Good to see ya around, man. I thought the hit was dirty, but I'm a Bengals fan...and as biased a fan as you'll ever meet, see, speak to or hear about. Regardless, I thought Ward led with his helmet and made impact with either Rivers' helmet...or just under it. Fact is, broken jaws aren't usually the result of a clean hit from the tacklers' shoulder pads. It's possible...just not probable. I'd love to, but have yet to see a camera angle from the opposite side of the field. Plus it's Hines Ward who, despite being one of my favorite player to watch...is also known amongst most football heads as one dirty bastard. All that said, it's football and it's tough for us to analyze from the sidelines when we all know the game is played at an extremely fast pace. Was the hit dirty...probably. But was he trying to knock Rivers out for the rest of the year...probably not.

I never though id say this but i love the Pats for beating the Broncos helped me in the fantasy league. 5-2 Plus a few post up i said Dallas was going to the bowl, scrap that idea right now. Unless they change things around by next week. Also surprised to see that the 49ers have let Nolan go, as there was no talkabout this happening whatsoever. He still sucked though plus the 49ers new head coach (for the time being) is Singeltary, so i can only see good things for San Fran for the time being. Honestly, this is a touch sport an Hines plays the role of the intimidating defensive linebacker for the steelers offense. Look at some of the crazy sh*t he does compared to Jack Lambert. Its not a matter of killing a guy or knocking him out for the game or season. Its about intimidation. Do you think guys come onto the field looking forward to clashing with Ward or Polamalu? They are actually working for their money and their is actually a greater chance of them getting hurt. Ward and Polamalu are going to the the last to ever complain how the sport is "too tough" for them to handle. When they get hurt, they recover and get back on the field. No ifs or buts about it. Hell, when Polamalu had his clock cleaned with a helmet to helmet (mind you it was a the top of Bensons helmet hitting Troy's ear) hit that sent Troy on his ass and his helmet flying, he didn't bitch and you don't see Benson holding press confrences to cover how he was fined, do you? Sniper.
What I dont get is how can they fine Ward for playing football? I mean come on if someone in college blindside hits a player, and the person gets injured, they dont suspended the player that did the hitting.. Seems like they are trying to restrict a lot of things now.

I Love Anna Kournikova
Is Nnamdi Asomugha the best Defensive back in the NFL? I dont see how you can say he is not? Last year The ball was thrown his way 31 times with only 10 of those passes being completed. This year in 6 games he has been thrown at 5 times, with 1 catch and it went for -1 yards. however he did have a PI call against him last week against the Jets. but it was questionable. Can he get in the Pro Bowl with no pics and hardly any pass' defended simply cause the whole league is afraid of him? What's weird though is they have Nnandi, but they are still 22nd in the NFL in passing yards allowed per game. I guess the money they gave their other corner hasn't done much. Also not sure if backs, TEs, etc... do really well against them but I would assume they did. Edited October 22, 2008 by Master of Pain.

Mainland Marauder
Everything about the Raiders sucks pretty much. Al Davis will never get it. It's not 1977 anymore, and you can't run your franchise as if it was. Im sticking with who i thought at the beggining of the season and that is Dallas. Problem is that Romo (if he comes back healthy) still has to demonstrate that he can win a big game. And judging from the asskicking they got from the Rams, who I'd be understating things to say they're not very good, without Romo they're hopeless. Playoffs, sure, but Super Bowl? Doubtful. Even in the wide-open NFC. Edited October 22, 2008 by Mainland Marauder "You tell me exactly what you want, and I'll explain to you very carefully why it cannot be." Well from what Romo is saying on ESPN is that he isnt coming back until after the bye week. They play Washington after their bye. So as much as the Cowboys want him to be back soon, he will be out til then. Not to mention that one man alone wont help them. They has lost a majority of their offense and defense to injuries. Romo out with a broken pinky, Felix Jones with a hamstring injury, Roy Williams is done for the year not to mention, and their McBrair is out for the year with a broken foot. Also good ol Adam "Pacman" Jones is done til his suspension is up. So I think it would be wise if the Cowboys just let their injured played recovery and their suspended players become avalible again before putting them back in. !!GC!!
Well, the Titans are shocking me. They have been playing some great football and haven't eally looked like losing. Up against the Colts this week, i think it'll be a good game, 'cos the Colts will get their act together and put up a fight. Speaking of the Colts, for me, they are the big busts this year. Going into Week 8, i wouldn't have thought they'd be down on 3-3. They shouldn't be 32nd in the League with 70 yards per game in the Rushing statistics. Thats just not the Colts. Going up against the Titans who are 3rd in the League on Defense, they are going to have to get some good rushes going and break the defense before throwing over the top. @Rockstar: Can you update the front page now?
