Firefox 3.0 Address Bar

Recommended Posts

So, i finally got 3.0 installed. I love it overall. had some trouble porting my passwords, but after that, my only gripe is the addressbar. i really don't like how it works. i'm here to ask if anybody knows a way to get it to work exactly as it did back in 2.0?

So far i've just managed to do a about:config tweak and set it to zero, so when i type in the bar no results show up. I really don't like how it displays my history, it's a little bit intrusive.

any help would be cookied accordingly.

the combo of changing the results to zero and adding oldbar doesn't really do it. in ff2, when i typed in a url and hit enter, it would save to the address bar's dropdown menu. it still doesn't do that. When i go into my extensions panel, 'options' for oldbar is not clickable as well.

I downloaded it after I went out for the evening, less crowding of the servers. I was at Wendys reading the news and it reported that there was a Guiness World Record attempt at the most downloads for whatever time frame. I noted, "Now there's the reason everyone is so shocked at this flurry of demand, in a sense it's somewhat artificial" They claim people who are ardent advocates were downloading multiple copies ... I think that wouldn't be allowed by Guiness rules, but that's how the news story seemed to read.

If you want the old url 'search' behaviour back, set browser.urlbar.matchBehavior to 0.

It'll search like it did in FF2, only matches the start of the url you're typing.

I use that + oldbar and it's pretty much the same as FF2.

@Slamman, what does that have to do with this guys problem? There is a large topic about the record attempt already..
