Mission No. 1

Recommended Posts

I can't race worth a damn and never will be able to do so. I've tried 30 times and I CAN'T do it! So please don't respond about how easy it is. I've read all the stuff about not crashing, use your brakes etc.

I realize 99.99% of you have done it with no problem. I'm an idiot and can't.

Now, with that out of the way, can I continue with the game by going to other missions and will I still be able to unlock the other islands if I skip this mission?

I don't care about percentages, etc. All I want to know is if it is possible to still progress through the game by skipping this mission.

Thanks.

Fuzzknuckles

Try slamming into the lead car as soon as you can. Preferably at a corner - this should make all the cars behind it slam into him, with you driving off laughing.

After doing this, I didn't see a single one of the other racers behind me throughout the entire race.

No you can not go through the story without doing this mission.

I think you can go past most (maybe all) the story without doing this mission. I got up to the Kill PlayBoy /Kill Dwayne mission without doing any Brucie missions. I decided that I was tired of getting calls from him and seeing a B on the radar do I did his missions. If you choose to not do his missions though, there is no chance of 100% unless you do them.

.Up&Coming.

There's a glitch I've heard of for Brucie's races...I'm not sure if it works for this one.

Those are for future races for you I guess.

It probably doesn't work for this race since you're in the car with Brucie. lol.gif

I don't need it because the only thing I'm good at in this game IS racing...

Anyway. The drivers are IDIOTS. So, once you're ahead, you really can't lose.

Ok. So, when you're turning, you basically want to tap the handbrake, and while you're turning, steer hard in the opposite direction you're turning and mix in some of the regular brake and some acceleration in there. The Comet is the best racing car in my opinion, so you should be able to figure out its handling pretty well. Slow down well before the turn and turn normally if you have to. I use that in multiplayer races sometimes and win with that, too. Just try stuff.

You could always do some multiplayer race and get used to the Comet first. confused.gif

Good luck.

I always had the same problem in racing games. I could NEVER do them. It took me a few tries but i finally got this one. Justa few tips.

-You dont need to be in first until the end. Speed down straightaways, but go slow around turns.

-Once you are in first just stay at a decent pace.

-Best way to brake is to press X and L2 at the same time

-Adjust these to your ability. If you always crash, then slow down a little more. If you never crash but never get first, speed up along the straighter roads. You'll get to know the course after a while.

I too am like the OP. I thought this mission would take forever, but i managed it after the third attempt.

You don't need to remember the route as the yellow markers tell you were to turn.

Always slow down before coming to a marker in case you miss your turn. (this is why it took me three attempts)

The comet is a very durable car as it's engine is in the back, don't be affraid to use the opponents cars to aid you in the turns.

If you find yourself behind, don't panic, i repeat, don't panic. This is the main cause of losing racing games. You try too hard to catch up and you spin out.

Also if you find yourself in front, don't panic, take it nice and easy as the AI drivers arn't worth sh*t. Believe me, they crash more than you.

Yeah, I still haven't passed this mission yet, but I haven't attempted it in about a week, either. However, I just got the new game called GRID and I'm pretty good at. Finished 1st in my first 3 attempts (of course it was basic mode, but that wasn't all that easy - you'll see when you play the game). IMO, GRID is far better than Project Gotham, Grand Turismo, Forza and any other racing game. It even rivals MotoGP! I think I'll be ready to race Brucie's mission soon. I understand the concept of the cornering, but those bastards kept crashing into me and then I would panic trying to catch up and the Comet is going all over the place. Anyhow... if ya'll haven't played GRID yet, do so.
