mark-2007
I thought a topic about songwriting and lyric writing was missing from the Music Discussion. Obviously, there is a wide range of music lovers on here: rock fans, rap fans, even some fans of classical music. So I was thinking that there will be plenty of musicians - whether you just like to write lyrics, or whether you play an instrument. So, come in and post. You can share lyrics you've written, songs you've written (with a link). Regardless of genre, come and post. Then others can give constructive criticism on your work. You can also post more well-known lyrics to analyse and say what is great and what is bad about them. Perhaps a few people can contribute songwriting and lyrics tips which I'll add to this first post, giving full credit to you of course. Negative feedback is allowed, as long as you suggest ways to improve it. Feedback such as "it suckz" is not allowed and you will be asked to stop posting on the topic if you repeatedly do it. Plagiarism is not allowed either, so please don't pass other people's off as your own. Go ahead, share your work. Guglielminpietro
http://www.myspace.com/thedamnfinecoats That is my band. I wrote them there songs (except for the drums, our drummer puts his own drums to them). They are sh*tty demo recordings but whatever. mark-2007
Cool, I particularly like Conversation Association as it has a Raconteurs feel to it in my opinion, but they're all good to be honest. Really different too, with the heavy-distorted guitars on some and then the warm sound on others. I like the relaxed, calm vocals too. Are you the guitarist/vocalist? Or the bass player? I sing and play guitar. And thank you for your positive and therefore more valid opinions. Those tracks were recorded a year ago. We've written loads of stuff since then, we should really get another demo recorded. The Unvirginiser
You know in WD we always welcome any kind of writing, including songs... don't be shy, post away I try to write music, I can do rhyming poetry, but without a beat I can't really get a decent song flowing Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/358001-songwriting-and-lyrics/#findComment-1058269783 Share on other sites

indiekid
My band: Liquid Soap We went in the studio when my bassist had only played with us for 3 days. It's kind of sh*tty and we're due to go in the studio very soon. A tour next summer is in the works. My solo acoustic project: Sinking Ship I haven't done much with this in 2008, but the previous 3 years I was pretty active with it. Lochie_old
Your solo project has a cool name, I'm listening to The Diner. The guitar is pretty groovy, but I feel the singing is sometimes slurring, but then I read that they were rough demos, so its cool. Jesus'En'Hitler420
The Wanton Friar's Myspace I've been writing for a couple years now, got a bunch of sh*tty sounding recordings. Lately, they have been coming out better with more experience. I have yet to really go into the studio and record something good quality wise.
