Pink Floyd topic

Rokas.

hey guys, does anyone own a completely HQ Animals cover art? I was scrolling through Pink Floyd's facebook pages the other day and saw this amazing version of Animals cover. It looks very sharp and clean, but that huge sticker f*cking annoys me, I just can't use it with it. So, maybe someone saw original?

edit

or maybe someone even has a place with all the remastered pink floyd covers? Because obscured by clouds one looks so good too!

I was telling my dad about that and other Hipnosis artworks, related in large part with Pink Floyd via Storm Thorgerson ... Aubrey Powell is the other half of Hipnosis, Also doing work with Pink Floyd and a number of bands from the classic era.

I posted this before I'm sure

Storm is a childhood friend of the band mates, so it goes without saying, they got people who would work for low to no pay and get their arts perfected. biggrin.gif

Here's the album art and a song from Younger Brother, just cause...it relates to Storm's interview

You could just scan your copy of the LP! Most of these albums were intended to forgo ANY titling and just speak to you as art and art alone to coincide with the music

Been listening to Dogs a lot recently. I can't get over how great that double solo sounds.

Got Umagumma and Animals LP's for christmas. f*cking amazing. I never heard live side of Ummagumma before. Amazing sh*t

The Live side of Ummagumma has the late Syd Barrett included I believe, and yes, flat out amazing! Hard to find on YouTube since they cover the studio tracks mostly

I'd been praying for David Gilmour's CBS FOX video self titled, Live at Hammersmith to release on BluRay or DVD at least, however, you can find it on YouTube in whole, HOWEVER, missing interviews and backstage on the tourbus, etc. SADLY

I still want the Immersion sets but I also want to get a gaming PC/lap upgrade, or replace some pawned stuff soon

I've also wanted to see that gig on DVD, mainly for the backstage stuff as I haven't seen it

@ xxxSIDESH0Wxxx: Sounds like an awesome way to spend Christmas day smile.gif I got woken up by the intro of "Time" last year and, as much as I love Pink Floyd, the intro to that song always annoys me.

If any band is a DESERT ISLAND bring along, it's Pink Floyd, honest to God!

Let the full show stream via Internet Explorer, go into Internet Properties and the FILES section, then select Properties -> Details, select the SIZE sorting and save the biggest file there! It's just over 500Megabytes or so!? Then you have the full show to enjoy anytime, anywhere!

Damn right they are. Being as atmospheric as they are, I'm sure that being stranded on an island would bring a whole new meaning to each song. What album would you choose?

I'll get the video through Firefox. I can't bear IE tounge.gif

Firefox you type in About : Cache, from the URL, IIRC, Use IE though, it works the best to sort stored HDD content, the others make you look for large files while IE sifts and sorts by date or size, I love that about IE!! hahaha

Anywho, I watched Live 8 with all of PF united, except Syd Barrett... Even now, it's highly emotional, with Rick Wright's passing

FLOYD will never be again

I damn near cried

Ah man, Live 8 was incredible. It was around that time that I got my first LP. I was seriously impressed by them and it spurred me on to get more Pink Floyd in my life.

After Mr Wright's passing, I went back and watched a few bits and bobs from the Floyd's time line. It was a nice way to thank him, I think.

The more you read about Richard Wright and his clashes with Roger Waters around the WALL period, it just seems more harsh then it ever should have been. Taking a cue from David's ABOUT FACE LP, Roger has seemingly done an about face over those prior years of being singularily obsessed in the direction of Pink Floyd. When he set out solo with Pros and Cons, he joked in an interview when asked what accounted for all the sales "What sales? Nobody bought it", the tour with Clapton was not all that successful, and Clapton left after a few shows. Roger was billing himself as part of the PF magic, and then Floyd setting out in 1987 using the PF name just incurred the legal wrath at that point, so yeah, it was a long time of animosity within the band, in-fighting that came to an end too late, really.

R.I.P. PF / Rick / Syd

Very true. During some of the interviews on the Live In Pompeii DVD and other such things, they are asked occasionally "How do you deal with the arguments and stress of being in Pink Floyd?" and the answer is often "We don't". I think they lived up to their stoic British ways when it came to their disagreements. Like you said though, it was too late. The animosity that came from them all surprised me a great deal. They seem like an intelligent bunch and yet they acted, for lack of a better word, quite childishly. I'm glad they seem to have shrugged off their problems though. Being the strong characters they all are, that couldn't of been an easy thing to do.

The people on YouTube have mined the well in recent years, God bless them for sharing these memories with us all! I'll mine my own audio recordings off FM radio for the Tube as well

I'll spoil the thread some more with my fav finds in a row;

Rick in this excerpt, I'm still lacking David's last DVD

This vid segment sums up the last era of Floyd as we've been discussing, Syd Shines ON!

That Crazy Diamond

This one is awesome too. Man, good stuff

biggrin.gif I've not seen the Barn Jam video before. Bloody beautiful stuff. Cheers, man. That video where they talk about the piano from "Echoes" is awesome too. Good stuff. I laughed quite hard at the bit in the last video where the guy sat at the piano was talking about the G minor 7 being played for two minutes. He seemed genuinely baffled. Some good videos there.

I didn't see it either, but I was watching related links, and the most notable ones in my mind, posted above, and yeah, seems there's more from those sessions, SUCH A JOY to see Rick Wright again, his passing is just a terrible loss to music really

Yeah, it's dated, I believe after Live8, but not before the reunion benefits they did post-Live8

David Gilmour said that DURING Live8, old tensions DID arise and led him to believe a prolonged touring arrangement would raise old arguments of a creative nature, That sadly, no one in Pink Floyd were truly close friends, but I thank the Lord their animosity was not so bad as it was during the 1980s split, that seems an impossible impasse to get around, after the negative press and fallout everyone witnessed

Awesome! I hope you have as much fun as I did. It's still the best thing I've ever seen till this day.

Have you seen Pink Floyd, or solo members, in the past?

A VERY dear friend of the Late Earl Root saw one of the 1970s shows in California, more a Pre-Wall stadium show leading up the Canada incident that inspired the Wall, however, Tim, who is the guy who worked sound for Disturbed, Earl's band, and worked as CoHost of his Metal radio show got to see the original line up play, and just as the set concluded, a stormy day broke out to a rainbow near the stage, he says the feeling was magical and divine!

Seemed to him the Floyd caused the Heavenly display! haha

Earl Root was a major prog rock fan, even though he was the METAL GURU of our State, basically! Hosting his radio show for over 25 years, and still going!

I hope to see Van Halen AND Roger Waters playing up coming shows this year as well

I've got to get more PF discussion, though there's not much new news, I heard a supposed premier cover band is hitting our town as a stop on their current North American Tour.

Brit Floyd, IIRC??

I want feedback on how they compare to PF and the Aussie cover band.
