I thought we already knew from the game's cutscenes. Isn't he Serbian?

I thought Eddie or someone else asked if he was Bulgarian (during a car ride) and he said yes.

You bother to write that wholly, but fail to include the UGH at the end of "altho"?

No I'm serious. I coulda sworn that during a mission for someone, you drive a guy to a somewhere and he tries to guess your nationality, he says Bulgarian and Niko says he's right.

Oh, I see, I thought you were mocking me. I know I remember hearing "Bulgarian" mentioned in the game, somewhere.

He is Serbian, get over it.

Everyone takes Niko as Russian due to his accent, because all of the western people are closeminded and if someone sounds funny it must be Russian.

He is Serbain, he uses Serbian phrases and Roman says that "[Niko's]English is better than his Serbian".

One of the first IIRR. It's either when you are picked up from the boat, or somewhere else.

Also, Vlad says that you and Roman are "lazy Serbian bastards" or something like that.

Bellic is from Serbian Ancestry.

Right before when Niko is picked up from the ship by roman

Hossan said Íèêî, êàêèì áûë ñåðáèÿ,

English "How was the country side in Serbia"?

Metaphysical Ragdoll

He's totally Serbian. He speaks in Serbian. His mum writes him an email in Serbian. etc etc

Although I must say that supposedly he does sound more Russian than Serbian, according to my girlfriend, who is Serbian. Also his name should be pronounced 'Bellich' not 'Bellick'. But anyway.

Bulgarian is the name of the bloke who you owe money from back in the Balkan wars. You meet him when Dimitri betrays you near the start of the game.

That's what I was thinking. His name was Bulgarin or something close to Bulgarian. But in the context of the sentence, it didn't make sense for it to be that guy... the guy was guessing Niko's nationality.

Are you sure it was nationality or that Niko was being sarcastic? I sometimes find it hard to here conversations with the radio on, but I just about manage (and screw the subtitles).

I'm not really sure of anything. haha. But it certainly sounded to me like the guy was guessing Niko's background.

I don't get what was up with that. They pronounced Cravic and Brevic right, but couldn't get the main character's name correct??

GTA3Freak-2001

Its idiots like the topic starter who ruin Wikipedia and make it the not so reliable source of information, its not the least bit funny.

As for Niko, yes he's Serbian and what's funny is my Croatian friend wanted to see the game in action so I brought over my 360 and gave him a go from the start. Anyway when Niko or Roman utter those small phrases of Serbian my friend was easily able to translate since Serbian and Croatian are fairly similar.
