Favorite GTA theme song/intro

I'm in work at the moment and I have no speakers, so I can't listen to those vids, but having played all of them, as far as I can remember, none of the GTA games ever had a decent theme song worth talking about.

I'm literally stunned by this comment !! Watching those videos reminded me just how good R* are at getting the theme music bang-on the money, and can say that they are all excellent, without exception.

I was concerned that this thread would be affected by the continuing GTA VC/SA civil war, and that bias would count against (in my opinion) the two standout themes in the series. If pushed, I think I would have to say SA by a nose, but would certainly need to acknowledge that due to the severe epic-ness of SA, I have heard that intro far more than any other.

Da Shootaz is an awesome song BTW inlove.gif

My favorite is definitely the one for GTA IV. Excellent beat, and it kind of provides a feeling of Sorrow, as in the character will be sorrowful in some ways. Love it.

1. GTA IV

2. VC

3. GTA SA

4. GTA III

5. LCS

6. VCS

IV's was not a disappointment they just needed the space so they could not make a cool intro to the game like they did the others.

Hmm - Well, perhaps disappointment was not quite the right word. You know from my posts here that I do *not* moan about IV, but a discussion over theme music's not the same as moaning, imo. I'd say the theme is ok - good, even - but not quite *epic* in the same way as LCS. That theme is a nice piece (forget what it's called, it's a march of some kind) with a beginning, middle & proper dramatic ending. The opening music for IV just, kind of, tails off.

Also, different point (and just a teeny moan), if I have left the room for any reason while the XBox is booting (for a 'comfort break', say, or to grab munchies), once I get back and log in to XBLive I have to sit through all the loading screens for a minute or two in complete silence sad.gif It's a shame they didn't at least restart the music if it's finished playing.

I do agree about the music not replaying.

But if we were to take the opening cutscene (GTA IV) as an intro (which I believe it is, due to the fact it has the credits, and is only shown once due to repetition; I believe the intro you have highlighted is more of a loading screen). Then IV would annihilate every one of the others.

But to go along, I would say GTA III. Very classy and Sophisticated like the mafia (unlike those god damn Leones devil.gif ).

IMO the intro and credits for IV would be these two.

Intro

Credits (it would be much longer tho so that the credits can roll)

R* needs some new idea for intros and credits.

Mine has got to be IV's I mean the tone of the music was so gangster and humble to your soul , it was like you felt the gangster venting off the scene as it played on your TV

1-IV

2-GTA I ( THE ORIGINAL)

3-San Andreas

4-Liberty City Stories

5-III

6-Vice City

7-Vice City Stories

Yo at the 2008 Spike TV Video Game awards , since I know GTA IV will get Game of the year

they should have Rockstar make a crazy intro with an orchestra doing all the GTA THEMES

and as Sam and Dan Houser walk out they have the GTA IV theme going smooth and then gets crazy with the synthesizers like some HALO sh!t

Even 6 years on, I still love VC's theme. It brings back so many memories, and has that awesome 80s touch. IV's is a real hard edge theme, and I love it too.

VC's theme IMO is the best theme ever created for GTA.

007 RoadRunner

1) LCS - Great guitar and a nice italian touch to it

2) IV - A bit orchestral with a subtle beat and sounds epic

3) VC - It brings that extra feel for the game like no other music has done

4) III - The jazzy theme fits the game well but not as well as the VC song does for VC

5) VCS - Nothing special

erm the credits music you posted, i'm pretty sure that's one of the songs that actually plays through the credits. it also plays julliette and the licks and some other really nice tunes.

You can't go past the synth sounds emulating that of Jan Hammer's Miami Vice intro theme, what more could you want!

Oh and of course Vice City Stories comes second as Slamman just reminded me of.

Heh, Jan Hammer. I'm the greatest fan of his work with the Mahavishnu Orchestra. icon14.gif
