Because the whole storyline of all of the 3D GTA's have had many American stereotypes and American culture in them. Imagine London, no more Hummers, no more muscle cars, it will always be dark and gloomy, no more radio talk shows making fun of Americans.

Are you another american who thinks it rains non-stop in london? Well just so you know, London actually gets less rainfall than Paris each year. And neither is London constantly foggy.

Also i have seen numerous hummers and other american cars in London. Muscle cars not so often, but hey its a game, it doesent have to be 100% true to life, rockstar could put muscle cars in.

Sorry man. See, here in America, I have not seen one picture of London where I can see the sun. Considering all of the movies I've seen and stuff, my image of London is a drab and boring place with nothing to do. But, then again, I have never been there, so I don't have first hand experience. If R* can pull it off, then I wouldn't mind London.

I agree but i also get the same drab image when i think of NYC, i think it lends a little

something to the gritty feel anyway, although i did enjoy sunny Vice City too

If you played as this average middle class bloke, with no sub-cultural alliance, then I would love to play in London.

London Ear? (London Eye)

Big Dick? (Big Ben)

RastaJam Palace? (Buckingham Palace)

The Cylinder? (The Tube)

Rofl! But tbh I think it's going to stay US based for the next outing. There's so much material to satirise, whatever your political allegiance, and Americans seem to enjoy the humour too without getting p*ssed off at R*'s cheek.

London was very bright and sunny today, as it is for most of the summer.

did anyone hear of the divorce lawyer who went mental a couple of weeks shooting out of his appartment window? He got shot dead by coppers in the end. I kept expecting them to say he'd been playing IV.

Anyway London would be a great place, I'm really hoping they don't redo another city from the last gen.

Seeing as R* loves to make fun of the American stereotype, a game set in the UK would have to make fun of the British stereotype. And the British stereotype is pretty law abiding and tea drinking, which I think could make it a bit difficult to make a game centered around crime.

Although I would still love to see another GTA London!

It should be set in Glasgow.  Your an illegal immigrant trying to find work whilst avoiding neds and their rottweilers trying to 'chib' you.

If you thought understanding LJ was bad, just wait until you hear the citizens of Glasgow.

Or it could be a set in England. You've just come over from India. You open a corner shop, take advantage of the free NHS service and benefits, but realize you must have a child as fast as possible to ensure you can stay in the country.

Act II: You play as your son, who has grown up into a chav to fit in with the rest of the kids in the rough area. In between your criminal activities, you must do missions for your parents, which involve facing north and praying to Allah.

Eventually you'll get into the big time gangs, and the game gives you a multiple ending. Which will you choose? Suicide bombing on the train station, or a lifetime of working at the post office?

You decide! lol.gif

How come we're always bad guys in American films then?

I think being British R* will be fully aware of the many stereotypes over here to poke fun of.

R* won't do london.

The English stereotype is nothing compared to the American. All they could do is make people say, "alrite gavna" or whatever Americans seem to think we say... Oh, and tea 'n' crumpets... (I don't think I've even seen a crumpet before, and americans drink more tea than us, let a lone coffee). But yeah, the English stereotype is totally wrong and sh*t.

IT's been said before but the REAL reason they won't is two words...

Why don't they just call their new town Stillwater if they're going to copy another GTA wannabe?!?! confused.gifsigh.gif

The fact that Sony London recently canned the development of The Getaway 3 proves London is sh!t for games.

I hadn't heard that, but The Getaway doesn't imply it has to photo-realistically recreate London. I love the movie Ronin so a game like that would KICK ARSE!

Agreed?

Actually a bit more about Scotland as in Edinburgh would be an interesting setting that also echoes R*'s home turf

People, people, people, you're missing the point.

"The Getaway" excuse is tired and useless. Team Soho=/=Rockstar. Rockstar London would have a lot more humour and not be a "movie-set" recreation of the capital.

"The Weather" excuse, again, it does get sunny in London/Britain. Heatwaves in the 70s.

If you don't want it set in the modern day, have it set in the turmoil of Thatcherite Britain, the 80s. Great music and plenty of "bloody yanks" as well as "more tea vicar" or some yorkshire "daahn t'pub" or Lancastrian "Ecky thump!"

People, dig for medalion man's London Dossier- although it was posted avant-IV, it still carries valid points.

GTA London please, with Picallily Circus.

WTF are you talking about. Grow some brain cells man. Loads of people have Hummers, Bentleys, Chrysler 300's here. left and right hand drives. Some people have Pontiacs, Chryslers, Corvettes, classic Muscle cars. Please dont be so ignorant. We have all your cars. Ford Mustangs, you name it Ive seen all these cars in London.

Not everyone drives Mini coopers! Most people here drive german cars anyway.

I guess London is boring if you say so. I mean whats more boring than kids screaming Pwned everytime you log on. Its not that bad.

America is a great country but lets not be big headed here kids. sarcasm.gif

Tell that to the teenagers who rob and kill people with guns and knives. I doubt there'll be lips left to sip tea or a tongue to eat crumpets with. You been watching the news?????

BlademanX, don't make the mistakes I did...posting more then once when EDIT is available as a tool here, you can refresh or come back to a thread later, or coax someone to post or bump it. I've done all that in attempts to comment in an interesting topic! tounge.gif

I agree American cars are exported, but it is ALSO quite costly to do so and I doubt everyone can afford to do that. We drive imports more now because they build locally as well here.

I think The Getaway and other London themed games are reasons enough to not re-do a worn out location. In the USA you have many States with different vibes. I've been to more then one and I know there's many things like mountains and bodies of water that vary quite a lot. Say, the Grand Canyon and Colorado, Mountains and desert of California, Swamps downsouth, Fishing and forest of the NorthWest and Midwest... just a lot of excellent land mass and varied peoples.

The big problem with using london as a location is the lack of armed police. You would be running around shooting peds with guns bought of gangsters and the police would turn up with pepper spray to try and stop you.

I prefer it not to be out of America, but Sydney would seem pretty damn good

Not really a problem, no guns at 1 star would be fine: mace, billy-clubs and tazers. 2 stars hand guns. 3 stars SMG's, 4 stars AK's/M4 Carbine, etc. Very little difference between GTA IV. Buying guns from car trunks and back street dealers, sight?

Oh yeah, like you don't drive on the other side of the road 50% of the time in GTA IV, f*ck traffic flow.

They don't drive the streets of London if Edinburgh is S C O T L A N D!!

I think he was more referring to driving on the left hand side of the road.
