Steve Crook
How come, sometimes when you're running at top speed, and you run down a ramp, the game will decide that you want to jump rather than just run down the ramp? And even worse, it will quite often cause you a lot of damage even though you don't actually fall over! It just happened to me - again. I didn't fall over but it unexpectedly jumped as I was getting close to the bottom of quite a gentle ramp. And that damaged my armour from 100 down to 23 Steve Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/355662-jumping-off-a-ramp/ Share on other sites
rav0
You can only actually run and sprint horizontally. If you run down a ramp, you are running horizontally and dropping to match the new level of the ramp. If you sprint, you can move so far horizontally that when you drop to the new ground level below you, you are properly "falling" (you loose health). Although it does seem strange to those of us that are used to the physics on planet Earth. The physics are different on planet GTA And in fact it's just happened to me when I was moving at normal speed (still running, but not sprinting) down a ramp and Claude decided to jump the last part and again he lost armour Steve Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/355662-jumping-off-a-ramp/#findComment-1058224117 Share on other sites
stef_92
This usualy happens on the stairs in Cochrane Dam and the stairs on the boatyard. Just don't sprint there and that's all Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/355662-jumping-off-a-ramp/#findComment-1058224882 Share on other sites
(Del)
I wrote the exact same thing as you earlier Stef, but didnt post it as it was wrong. Now in real life, sprinting downwards will cause you to lose balance or stumble.. but in GTA, he jumps.. I also put about the levels of texture he is running on, but when he falls his legs are straight.. when you run with Claude, he jumps down ramps.. so therefore he isn't falling at all. Steve Crook
This usualy happens on the stairs in Cochrane Dam and the stairs on the boatyard. Just don't sprint there and that's all I've seen it happen on long flights of stairs quite often. Like the stairs on the towers at the Cochrane dam or the stairs down to the jetty from near Asuka's apartment. But I've also seen it happen quite often on a medium length, gentle ramp, like the one in the projects area in Staunton Island where you jump across to get the M16 and then go down a ramp. Or even the ramp into the Staunton Island hideout. It's not so much that Claude jumps that puzzles me, but that he lands on his feet yet he takes a lot more damage than when he jumps off a high wall (where he does fall over when he lands) Steve Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/355662-jumping-off-a-ramp/#findComment-1058226845 Share on other sites
stef_92
And running down on the hills takes too much damage too Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/355662-jumping-off-a-ramp/#findComment-1058227321 Share on other sites
