Why I love SR2

Recommended Posts

I could give less of a f*ck about getting my haircut, buying property, customizing cars, building muscle or fat or any of the other SA features left out of IV. Go play the Sims if that's what you want.

As far as planes go, where excatly are you gonna go with one? More importantly, where are you going to land other than the airport. If Liberty City was a LOT bigger, I would have been fine with planes coming back, but with the size R* went with, I'm fine without the planes. I lost a lot of interest in them in SA quickly anyway.

say Niko still has some old army buddies, who can get him

crazy weapons?

I'm pretty sure they're all dead except Darko and Florian/Bernie.

The attack helicopter's point was to actually be a foe that you had a hard time killing. That is the only point and, as I've said before, I don't think it should be in the game.

His background MAY be arbitrary, but whether it is or not it does make the helicopters more believable than planes.

The media doesn't make sense. Boo them.

So then, why is the attack heli in the game?

What do you mean his background MAY be arbitrary? He is a fictional character...every thing about him is arbitrary. They could have said he was a tank/plane pilot in the army and included tanks/planes, they just didn't.

Yes, boo the media, but unless I hear R* say you can't fly a plane because of 9/11, I will remain skeptical.

Also apologies CP3NO for totally Hi-jacking your thread

but don't worry we won't crash it into any buildings

That's just his old unit, now to imagine the entire serbian army has

been wiped out really would be a stretch

Damn good point. I wonder where all those people in the planes I see in the sky are going? They must just fly over endless ocean until the plane runs out of fuel and then they crash and drown. Poor souls.

Well, they don't HAVE to be all dead. It was simply a story decision. The point being it would have been easy for the writers to come with with the necessary fiction to allow this.

Guys.. you know what? I think Rockstar f*cked it up. Okay, we have GTA IV, and we have it on consoles.. well it's okay... no pc release, i can live with it... but...

The game has been cut like hell, it has nothing to spend money on [except weapons and smaller things] which is really necessary, and it lacks the good old GTA feeling. f*ck realism if it's f*cking up the original feeling of a serie, GTA was the best sandbox game, even mafia couldn't compete with it [well, even if it was a better game... not graphics wise, but the physics and the story kicked ass..].

Now we have an OK game, with good story, but less features than it's prequels had. I'm sure some of you will flame me now on how immature i am, but San Andreas still is a better game than GTA IV if you compare the gameplay elements..

Okay, okay, i know there's euphoria etc... but SA had better features... and even if they are not realistic, they made me giggle sometimes.. Like when a plane crashed into my car accidentally, that was a "woah" moment for me.

So seriously.. Rockstar Games have just f*cked it up... they really don't give a sh*t about their fan base [which is huge] and lie to us. I really don't think i'll play GTA games any more.... just the ones that has already been released, before IV...

R.I.P GTA... we liked you, but now you've f*cked up because of Pony and M$.....

@TT1987: Well, i agree it was a bit lame.. but IMO this video game has been changed. And when everything in your life changes, you can't really say you are truly happy with the things you've liked disappearing. Yeah... call me a geek or something but this is my opinion.

I had a lot of fun with friends, using the fan-made multiplayer modifications... and now we have the so-called multiplayer WOOWHHOO...... not really interested in it at all.

I am honestly not trying to be a jerk, I just still don't quite understand what 'point' the helicopters had other than self determined point of making some missions dependent on them.

Having Niko's background explain his proficiency with a helicopter is arbitrary.

When is his heli proficiency explained in the story? Is it in a cutscene (which mission)?

As for planes, I want the Skimmer -- plenty of places to land in one of those.

Keep nitpicking Wayninja. That's the way to go.

k, thanks. Don't worry, some day after years of practice and study, you'll be able to contribute too.

Honestly, I don't know. It was said so I assumed it was explained somewhere and I missed it.

If you'd read the rest you would see that this whole debate has been nit-picking.

it is necessary to nit-pick to justify the ommision of certain features alonside

the inclusion of others

but Wayninja takes it to a new level.

  Good post!

but seriously, the realism thing i don't see as an issue.

Flamethrowers and miniguns do in fact exist in real life.

So a person could in fact buy/steal/use them and it

would be perfectly in keeping with realism.

Ok people keep saying Niko wouldn't do this, but i say

i want to decide what Niko will do and want more options

at my disposal. And if you don't want to use them, you

can always opt to give them a miss, isn't that the best way?

The problem is the availability. Anyone can buy an RPG at the black market in the Middle East. Miniguns, at least man-portable ones firing rifle bullets, are all military and very hard to find outside of dedicated turret mountings on helicopters. Flamethrowers have been banned, so the most viable alternative would be a short-range homemade flamethrower, like the classic "Lighter and hairspray" or "Lighter and gas-filled Supersoaker". While the water gun does have good range, it doesn't splash the fire very well, so using it in GTA IV would basically restrict you to setting specific areas on fire rather than just spraying into a room.

Besides, with the combat engine used in the game, you would have to walk out in the open and expose yourself to fire to use them, so anyone who doesn't feel like punching in a cheat behind cover is f*cked.

This IS the main reason why it's out

It is? Oh, thanks for clearing that up then.

No need to justify this statement with a source, I'll just take your word for it.

Ok i was lying. The main reason why the flamethrower is not included this time is

R* are evil and they want to upset people. R* are evil

I just watched the SR2 trailer to see what all the fuss is about and now i see. It does look fun and definatly tries to specifically make GTA IV sound lame with the comments about bowling, watching tv on your tv and taking your friends to places ect ect.. cant believe they went that far tbh.. and even though it does look promising, its not out yet so meh, GTA is still king of what it does, for now at least.

Actually as ridiculous as that is, it's still more believable than it's use making you susceptible to enemy fire...

Yes but they could easily justify Niko getting his hands on military weapons.

ok like i said it's a stretch of the imagination, but no more than many things

which have been included.

as for the cover system thing i don't even use it all the time, only when i'm

severely outnumbered, and i could always use it on unsuspecting peds,

the fact that it's banned doesn't realy hold water because you do many

things in the game which i'm sure the authorities would consider very naughty

indeed.

OK you're right it is unrealistic, but the game as it is now is unrealistic

SR2 looks like ass. there trying too hard to put everything in that IV missed out instead of making it a good game. they are obviously trying too hard. the graphics suck and the character models and so on are laughable.

GTA IV is a great game in my opinion.

but you hate it so much, why are you still using this forum?

With the type of people Niko work with, he could get his hands on most weapons, he gots the hookups lol, so I only see that they are holding off until the DLC comes to charge us for the traidtional weapons

then i'll probably just give it a miss.

As for whether Saints Row 2 will be good, well it looks like it's gonna be fun, we'll

just have to wait and see
