Police 'Backup'

All,

 

When you are doing the vigilante missions using the most wanted or current crime list on police cruiser computers, there is a call for backup link @ the bottom, It works fine when you're not being attacked/killed by anyone but is there anyway of activating it to get the cops to help you take out some ppl when you are at the location of the people you have to kill?

Whenever I get enemy icons on my map I can never open up the computer screen and therefore cannot press the call for backup button -.-

Is this just me?

 

If not, It begs the question: what is the point if the backup button only works when the only threat around is a grandma or some punk who you can beat up with a fist fight?

You could always call them up on your phone, as long as you're not fighting anyone at the time, and just hope that someone shoots you first and that the cops see it.

 

Then they'd attack whoever you're after, meaning you don't have to do anything.

Guess Im generally better off killing them all on my own anyway. Seemed that I was attracted by the novelty of being on the givin' end of an enormous car chase rather than on the recieving end and hoped that on GTA4 you might be able to do that ^^

They are more of a hindrance than help anyway. Further to what Fuzz said if you start shooting before the target does the cops will go after you with them only ceasing this if you manage to kill the target or get out of the wanted zone/circle.

I was wondering about this very thing yesterday. I finnished the vigilante missions and i tried calling for back-up with no success. I suppose it's just the same as calling the police from your phone.

Yea it sucks, just one more thing that they could have done to make this game better. this game has infinity let downs but still i cant help but say its the best game ever.

The cops helped me once when I called for backup.

 

I was doing a Brucie car mission.

 

And guys started shooting me, so backup came, helped me out.

So I thought id be nice, help the cop who was helping me.

 

So I shot the other guy, but I guess the police didnt like that and killed me

Yeah It would be nice If they had improved on that. You wouldn't think it would be so hard as they managed to introduce an incredible physics engine lol.
