I have already looked into it and this topic doesn't lie. The stats have been taken directly from an unmodified handling.cfg file. And yes, both the Infernus and Turismo have the same speed. Here's their statistics taken from the topic: Car Money Value ($) Mass (kg) Turnmass (kg) Speed (km) Drag Gears Drive Type Engine Type Infernus 95000 1400 2725.3 240 30 5 4WD Petrol Turismo 95000 1400 3000 240 30 5 4WD Petrol

Bad~Boy#17
Except that the "Max Speed" from handling.cfg has little to do with the actual topspeed of vehicles in the game. Actual topspeed on flat ground needs to be calculated from drag and engine acceleration (and possibly other factors).

Actual topspeed on flat ground needs to be calculated from drag and engine acceleration (and possibly other factors). Probably true. But if you take a look at the table in the first post on this page, the only noticeable difference between the Infernus and Tursimo is the 'Turnmass'. The turnmass one of the stats used to help determine the cars handling stats, if you have a light car with high speed, and high turnmass, the car will tip almost all the time when you turn a corner, A car with low turnmass, heavy weight and slow speed will have bad turning and never tip, a car with high speed, just under medium turn mass and just under medium weight would be a good handling car.So you need the turnmass to see how much a car will tip etc.
GTA Phreak
The table is dodgy! The drag coefficient of the Infernus is 1.5 vs 2.0 for the Turismo. With the same engine power that makes the Infernus significantly faster. The "Drag" in the table seems to be mistaken for engine power (EngineAcceleration) in handling.cfg. You can open and read it with notepad, - it's plain text.

OG Viking
Here are the data for the top-ten cars. <crap load of statistics> Thank you. Finally someone proves the Infernus is faster. These are about the same scores i got. Where did this information come from? You're welcome. The data comes from the game disk (handling.cfg file). Yeah, i can see that, so why is it in an order? He's just numbered it I guess. I don't think he meant to have it in any particular order. The order origins from Mike Hayward's test results on the SF Airport runway. The order may not be 100% correct, but the Infernus stood out in a class of its own. The test was NOT a test on top speed. Because stopwatch was used. (No need to run a test to find the top speed when that info can be extracted from the game files.) We do know which two cars have the highest top speed. It's a draw with the Turismo and the Infernus. But the top speed does not tell us which car is the fastest do drive from A to B. This is very complicated, and the fastest car from A to B might not be the fastest car from C to D. So many parameters, so many different routes with different conditions. The parameters (in random order): Engine acceleration Top speed Drag Traction Traction loss if raining Drivetrain Mass Turn mass On a straight line, some of theese parameters are unimportant. But San Andreas is not so much about dragracing. The fastest car does not necessarily have the highest top speed. It must also corner and accelerate well. Let's take a closer look at the two cars with the highest top speed, the Turismo and the Infernus (both 240 KPH). Most of their values are the same. But there are a few differences. DRAG MULTIPLIER: Infernus 1.5 (much better) Turismo 2.0 TURN MASS (affects how easy it is to change direction): Infernus 2725.3 Kg (better) Turismo 3000.0 Kg TRACTION MULTIPLIER (dry tarmac): Infernus 0.70 Turismo 0.75 (better) TRACTION LOSS (rain, or not on tarmac): Infernus 0.80 (better) Turismo 0.85 This explains why the Infernus is the fastest car in pratical use. The Turismo isn't even second fastest. The second fastest is probably the Hotring Racer (yes I know it has only a max of 220 KPH). Edit: Fixed outdated quote tags. Girish
Is turn-mass just the same as the centre of gravity for that car? I'm not very sure but there's definitely a link between the two. However, I'm pretty sure that drag affects speed since it's basically the opposition to the motion of a moving object and drag is directly proportional to the square of the speed. This means that the drag of Infernus will increase at a slower rate than that of the Turismo at higher speeds (drag multiplier of Infernus is 1.5 as compared to 2.0 of Turismo). So, that's why, the Infernus tends to be faster at high speeds.

Drag definitely affects speed.

OG Viking
Is turn-mass just the same as the centre of gravity for that car? Turn mass is the force that wants to push the vehicle straight forward when you make a turn. It affects how heavy the vehicle "feels" when you drive it. Heavy vehicles have higher turn mass than light vehicles. But two cars with identical weight can have different turn mass, so it's not based on weight alone. Which car from GTA San Andreas are the most fast ? like the bullet! [you should put NOS in it!!!!!!!!!] Yeah, but NOS isn't increasing the top speed. It increases acceleration only. It looks like it's moving faster because of the "warp" effect. But that's just an illusion. Edit: Fixed messed up quote tags caused by forum software upgrade.
