I play the game with my 4 year old cousin, but only the boring stuff, like bowling and darts. I'll save the hooker killing, hobo beating, helicopter suicidal flying, cop killing rampage for when I get home. But anyway, isn't this kinda like a pedo thread? where the hell are the parents? OT: On the subject of the proper ages for adult material, it really depends both on the kid's natural maturity and his or her parents' ability to teach them the difference between reality and fiction. I, for example, played GTA III at the age of 8 because I was very mature for my age (And still am. People often find me a bit scary because I act so old and serious instead of screwing around with stupid sh*t), and I knew reality from fiction. Conversely, a kid who, when he was younger, tried to imitate stunts he saw on TV a la Jackass would need a lot more supervision with his entertainment. Now, another thing to take into account is mental disabilities or disorders, such as retardation or ADHD. Someone who requires medication to keep his mind straight or has lower-than-normal mental faculties is not someone who should be playing or watching anything violent, as they don't have the normal capacity to process information in a mature and safe manner, and can easily harm someone through simple curiosity and an inability to understand. This is what happens when people get beyond their years before they have kids; by that I mean they forget what it is they themselves used to do in order to circumvent parental supervision/rule. Some may say I had mine a tad bit young, but I'll tell you one thing- they are not getting away with as much as their friends do with their lesser-informed parents. I played GTA3 when I was 8, and it really got me into GTA. My sister is 10 and she kicks ass on GTA4 DM. Serious. My parents aren't bad, they didn't know about GTA's violent nature at the time. But when they did, they had a talk with me about the rights and wrongs of GTA, and hey presto! I've never killed someone! I let them all play (IF they want to). Here's the catch, I have taught each of them the dif between this video game and real life. They are all well behaved in school and get decent grades. They argue and fight like normal brothers at home, but nothing over the top. Ready for the ironic part? My 12 year old doesn't even play. He is into Halo 3 and star wars. GTA may be a crime simulator, but it also serves as a life sim to an extent. They all understand it is wrong to go around fighting, killing, stealing (period) and blowing ish up. Do I let my 360 babysit? Hell naw, that's retarded. I play with my boys all the time. As long as the kid knows right from wrong, their is nothing wrong with them playing this or any other game. The ones that don't want their kids playing are the ones that either shelter them to much, or don't want to take the time to explain it because they think they are to young. Fact is, most EVERY kid in America (and other parts of the world) know about sex by the time they turn 6 and have seen way more disturbing things on the nightly news or other true crime type shows than this game can present them. I've never had the thought of going around knifing people or stealing cars, the people that do get influenced by the game should obviously not play it for their own safety, as long as you know what you're doing then it's alright.
