nicka912
I usually play games for gameplay... The Euphoria engine is stunning but there are other aspects of a game that truly make the game. I had heard a lot of people praising it with no end in sight, and I was like "It's cool, but not that cool." Until this evening. I was outside of an Algonquin apartment when I decided to whip out my baseball bat and ruin some people's days. I took the baseball bat to a few taxi-van rear windows, some people's driver side windows... And then I hit this one girl's window, she backed her car up away from me and I went up to her and hit her car again. She stepped out to fight me and I continued to smash her with the bat. Then, while her door was open, I took the last hit (It was cool, it wasn't like a swing with the bat, it was like a forceful poke to her chest... Pretty cool, NB!) and she hurled herself over her car door, hunched over it (I was hoping she'd stay there so I could photograph my screen!), and then slowly slid off... Dead... LOL, awesome. My friend and i were talking about how awesome it would be to have either the portal gun, or the physics gun from Half-Life. Now THAT would be a game. blitsbebop
Euphoria is really cool. It's not that cool but it's is sure as hell a big step from retarded peds that walk the streets talkin to them selfs with no brains. It's a big step...I mean give it time to grow...R* used IV as a test dummy for it...just picture what the next GTA game world will feel/look like. GTAaddictforever
why do you guys act like you've never seen ragdoll physics before? have you never played a game with ragdoll? its not a big deal and i could not care less about it. in fact, i would go as far as to say these physics are annoying as hell on Niko when he bumps into something or falls down. it's unrealistic how he stumbles and struggles to get up if anything touches him. Absolutely. I love waiting until a ped is getting out of a car (because I fired a few "warning shots" from my car) and then clipping their car door closed with my car before they get all the way out. Splat. Beautiful.

Yeah the doors actually have weight to them now. If another car speeds past when you're opening a door, it pops your door off... Another well done aspect. Euphoria is different to the Rag-dolls from the likes of Havoc, Euphoria isn't rag-dolls because the characters don't flop around like well rag-dolls. With Euphoria people are given a more realistic way of movement. They react more like a human would to being hit or knocked about, sure its not perfectly realistic but its a step-up from Havok I can assure you. GTAaddictforever
Either way Euphoria is a huge step to makein a video game seem more real. I hope to see it get used more with other games. this is what I'm talking about in my earlier post up there. Again, have you NEVER seen ragdoll before? There are hundreds of games with these physics. This is -old-. You saying other games should use it is hilarious. Yeah, I guess GTA 4 pioneered the way with the revolutionary ragdoll physics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol. Euphoria is ragdoll physics. It uses an engine (ragdoll) and then just a little more advanced and technical simulation of the body, an upgrade to ragdoll but not by much. Euphoria is a game animation engine created by NaturalMotion based on Dynamic Motion Synthesis, NaturalMotion's proprietary technology for animating 3D characters on-the-fly "based on a full simulation of the 3D character, including body, muscles and motor nervous system".[2] Instead of using predefined animations, the characters' actions and reactions are synthesized in real-time; they are different every time, even when replaying the same scene. While traditional physics engines uses ragdolls (like the Havok Physics Engine) for animations generated on the fly, Euphoria employs a more complex method to animate the entirety of physically-bound objects within the game environment. [3] Euphoria runs on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms. In February 2007, NaturalMotion and Rockstar Games announced that Euphoria would be used in future Rockstar titles.[4] A press release that was enclosed with the second trailer eventually confirmed that Grand Theft Auto IV is the first of Rockstar's games to feature Euphoria.[5][6] In April 2006, LucasArts announced that their next Indiana Jones game would use Euphoria.[7] The forthcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will also use Euphoria.[8] In August 2007, NaturalMotion announced Backbreaker, an American Football game for next-generation consoles that employs Euphoria to generate tackles in real-time, as opposed to playback animation.[9] Edited June 4, 2008 by GTAaddictforever
dubz914
The new star wars game uses euphoria and it looks better, the enemies reach for things to hold on to when u use the force on them. And euphoria isn't ragdoll, back when it was new, it was innovative and the next big thing, the most realistic we can get. Now all the games have it, especially the FPS' GTA IV is basiclly the 1st (techniclly 2nd cuz Lucas Arts has it for Star Wars The Force Unleashed 1st) but I'm willing to bet that all future FPS' will use Euphoria, sh*t I would love to see Euphoria in Halo, shoot some guy in the leg and just watch them trip over, react naturally with the engine, not like ragdoll, where they just lean towards the wound, the same exact way, wheras euphoria creates a different animation everytime /end nerd moment <_<
GTAaddictforever
I don't think you understand how Euphoria works. IT IS RAGDOLL. Euphoria is NOT a physics engine. Euphoria USES A RAGDOLL PHYSICS ENGINE that's already in place and then customizes the motions for that particular game. It improves the simulation of the human body, but it is basically a fancy ragdoll engine. to be honest, it's like arguing about regular SDTV's and HDTV's. it's the same crap but one is more sophisticated and you can see a little clearer/more detail on it. DeathKnight517
To everyone preparing to respond to GTAddictForever please note that he is a troll, trying to add coal to the flames to make you people respond to him. Wayninja's a jerk but he has points, however GTAddictForever is unwinnable against in an argument due to his own ignorance and childishness shielding his blatantly stupid arguments. I would also like to note that his constant editing of quotes making them 'blah blah blah' and his constant spam, flam, etc are grounds for banment and alright done with that large scale sh*t, can we just ban him already. He's had it coming and he's making the people objecting to GTA IV with fair points look like trolls as well.
Algonquin Assassin
Who gives a f*** whether Euphoria, ragdoll or whatever you like to call it is old. It's the best thing that's ever graced GTA. Most people would give their arm for it to be in GTA III, VC or SA. As for my first moment when I was wow'ed. I think it was the first time I jump off a building, and hit things below. I pissed my self laughing. I still do now. It's good how Niko, and other peds react like humans, instead of like a flagpole on a windy day. Nobody is allowed to talk about anything they don't like in this game. /TaterNots That's a load of sh*t. GTA3Freak-2001
Lol. Euphoria is ragdoll physics. It uses an engine (ragdoll) and then just a little more advanced and technical simulation of the body, an upgrade to ragdoll but not by much. I was merely using it to say that Euphoria isn't the same as your everyday Havok for example. What you've said is exactly why I was saying technically Euphoria isn't Rag-dolls because the characters react more realistically compared to an actual rag-doll which is where the term came from to describe this kind of technology. Sure its similar to Havok but its a noticeable improvement that does show, its the next level so its a cop-out to say its simply another Rag-doll physics system. Regardless for GTA this is a big thing, its always had its old scripted and robotic movements. Peds had set movements and there was no variation. In regards to your TV comment, so its then fair to say oh SDTV is not much different to HDTV when clearly there is a big difference in the quality?
