blitsbebop
I started playing GTA games at the age of 10 and I'm 16 now and I never broken a law in my life....well maybe two for spray painting my friends dad's car door as a prank (f*ckin bitch snitched on me) and walking my dog with out a chain on him but never anything big like shoot up a school or steal a car. I would never killed or steal a car because I care about my life and the life of others unlike some of these retards that try to act out video games. Life is a God given gift and you olny get to live once...why try and take that gift away from someone ?...I don't care how much of jerk they been to you, that don't give you the right to take their life...but if they hurt your wife or your kid in a harmfull way then I say beat the sh*t out of that punk then let the cops handel the rest. GTA is just a video game and if you can't see that you are a dumb ass my friend!

Crude
You mean kids are smart enough to fool the GTAIV website verification system? This shakes my whole worldview. I know isnt it? Its clearly so shocking, it will even give a fat woman a shocker. 1 in the pink, 2 in teh stink! lmao.
Tatertotts
When I first read the thread's title, I thought "Should it be harder for them to play?" actually referred to gameplay difficulty. Like, make it so difficult that little kids would get frustrated and not play. For the record, that would be ok with me. Yeah me too, but some of these kids are incredible gamers. I really wish this game were more difficult. Frustratingly difficult is good. True that. Most 12-year-olds would pwn me, or whatever it is the kids are saying these days. blitsbebop
I seen movies that where worst then GTA games. Movies like Scarface, Goodfellas etc etc...I mean I seen some sh*t and GTA is nothing to me in terms of killing, sex and rape. GTA to me is childs-play IMO. People never seen sh*t befor in their life so when they pick up a game like GTA they say "OMG, THIS GAME IS TOO BAD!" because they never seen sh*t befor...they stay locked up in thier homes too scared to see the world for what it really is. Just the other day a lady (24 years old) got beatin to death when someone broke into her house...GTA is nothin.
learn2forget
LOL, I remember when I was a kid I used to play the computer game Leisure Suit Larry. There were 5 questions at the beginning (random out of 100) that were old general knowledge trivia multiple choice. Nowadays that would never work because kids could just look up the answers online!!! Haha that's hilarious.. I remember trying to play that game with a couple friends when we were maybe 8 or 10 years old and we couldn't get past those questions. Amazing how much things have changed since then edit: And on topic YES I do think it should be harder for underagers to play. When I got on Xbox Live I was surprised to find I could download R rated movies and such without any verification. Parents probably should assume the responsibility, but that doesn't mean game/console making companies shouldn't do something about it too. The only problem is it would be nearly impossible to verify age without inputting your social security number or sending in photocopies of official documents (driver's license or passport, etc.), and both of those options are probably not worth the hassle. skyhigh949
I think it should all be up to the parents. as for movies the can for example bring a X rated movie at home and I think that it all depends on weather the parents want to or not.
frynsesmadrer
i don't see a problem. my only concern is if some parents let kids play who are are a bit and might be affectet badly. xNikolaiBellicx
No, its up to the parents if they think theyre kids are mature enough and if they trust their kids. Some kids actually are mature enough for games like GTA and some adults are immature enough to copy GTA in real life. So i think the level of maturity matters more. But im NOT saying that all kids should play GTA. It really depends on the maturity level. Edited June 4, 2008 by xNikolaiBellicx
Gaurav42
You guys know little about kids, and little about maturity. GTA is just a VIDEO GAME. Playing it does not instantly make you want to kill people, or Bang hookers. I am 14 and to date i have shot 0 people, had sex 0 times and commited 0 roberries. Some times i think that people on this site havent been kids for so long, that they forget how it was, and dont realise that we are mature enough to handle this stuff. ITS JUST A GAME. Some could say that it is imature of a 30 year old to still be playing kids games. only the 1 in 1000000 dumbass crazy kid will do what they do in a game, and they were either going to kill someone anyway or have parents who havent taught them the simplist rights and wrongs. and then again, what about the 1 in a 1000000 adult who would do the same thing. You guys are GTA fans, and you are the last people who i would expect to thinl would say GTA is actually harmful for peopl. I thaught it was only these dumbasss republican parents and Jack thompson who were dumb enough to open their eyes to see that sex, crime and drugs are all around us. Infact these games by protraying guns as funny and stupid thing may actually make kids less likely to think that it is cool to have a gun and do drugs. sounds stupid i know, but its something a 30 year old wouldnt understand. what i say to u guys who think only adults have the right to play it, grow up, watch some porn get a life and a gf. Shame on you, you are not true gta fans. Every one has the right to play GTA. Young and Old.

pinky
My only gripe against the youngsters is that they shouldn't be allowed headsets till their voice breaks, it's murder on the ears I tells ya. My dog sits in the corner howling with its paws over its ears too when some prepubescent comes on the mic.
AdZ767
As the poster mentioned above, kids voices can be annoying however, when ive played online ive found they make more of an effort to act mature than the older ones who talk trash & permantly flame.. so i guess im ok with it. DZorro
As it stands, I see a lot of forums (including this one) where a lot of underage kids are playing this game. Do you think that Rockstar or the video game industry should make it harder for these players to play the game? I think the game is rated over 18, so that is technically like a rated X movie. I don't agree with that rating, but that is the rating nonetheless. I know there are plenty of parents and friends buying this game for others, and it is getting into the hands of players that are under 18. Should they implement some kind of age verification into the game to stop this? It really doesn't bother me, but it might if I had kids. I don't know how they could do some kind of verification except via the internet, but not everyone has internet. Anyone else have any feelings on this? Well if things goes on the way it does now i would not be surpriced if they could do something about this. Having to really verify your age before even getting to play could be an option, but they will have to do this every time you start a new session. or else it would not work. Kids just have to realized they can't always get what they want, and that's the problem today they get way to much. Me i had to work the old fashioned way. before i got anything. And no whining to daddy didn't get me thing only a kick in the butt.
Furianer1188
Wow this thread is really f*cked up. The young children say:"blabla why do old people play gta its for kids" The old people say:"blabla why do young people play gta it is for 18+" Now you children think of when you are older, will you stop playing games? will you stop playing really really good games like GTA? And you older people think of when you were younger, I bet you played games which were not for your age too.

Because the adult is trying to have fun which also doesnt come with an age rating cutoff, the adult also plays wondering when the prepubescent teen will get a sense of humour and actually grow up. Copying a game like GTA in real life is a sign of insanity, not immaturity. From what I can tell, you're an example of why 14-year-olds are perfectly capable of playing this game, with no adverse effects on their psyche. As to the question of why 30-somethings play video games: I played them when I was a kid, and I play them now. You will too when you're in your 30s, because they are fun. Adults still like to have fun.
