No GTA did not start FIRST on the Playstation. GTA is a PC franchise, both GTA 1 and 2 came out on the PC first and later got ported to the PS1. The franchise only started appearing on the Playstation 2 first with GTA 3 and that was because Sony delivered several truck loads of cash to Rockstar's doors (you know the same thing that MS are doing now with Rockstar, oh the irony).
