RONIN1191
Heavenly Sword stole me away from gtaIV honestly. i got in the 90 percent complete area and didn't want to hunt for pidgeons. heavenly sword though is probably one of the the most badass, action packed, killfest i have ever played. You can beat it in about 6 hours if your good but its a hell of a movie to play through for real. *edit* cod4 was actually my first ps3 addiction. marvelous game. best part is when you are in the bomber plane going to town on the little glowing dudes with 3 types of airborne gunnery. Oh yea, definitely want to play that. When I get my PS3 there are a number of games I gotta have- Heavenly Sword and Uncharted being two of'm. Played Resistance and R6V with my brother; both top notch games in my book. For COD4, the most awesome moment was at the denouement of Shock and Awe I believe. That, or the flashback mission with then-Lt Price and Cap MacMillan in the ghillie suits.
notgtajerk
even though we are having our differences ronin... that flashback mission was amazing. crawling between the soldiers. RIGHT UNDER THEIR FEET!! it was needless to say an earth shattering experience. and you need heavenly sword 2. probably one of the most action packed epic games i have ever played. the emotions the characters show is so close to real that you feel like your watching an amazing movie at times. spaceeinstein
I think some of you expected too much because GTA is the name of the game. Compared to other games of this generation, GTA4 looks like an awesome game. I think GTA is now more aimed at the casual gamer because the majority of people playing GTA4 doesn't have the time to complete it or to play it everyday. stupid632
dont call me names. but i still think oblivion is better with the hours of gameplay you can talk to people ans the quest are much more challengen not saying gta arent but it is more action in oblivion. stygta
In terms of action, I still think Uncharted just blows all third-person games out of the water. While GTA IV is good, it often feels sluggish and far too often do things go wrong or you find yourself just getting stuck to a wall getting shot at. Finally someone who agrees with me. It seems like too many things are coincidental in this game. It's almost like the game was programmed to ruin every attempt, even the smallest of things. For instance yesterday I was just doing unique jumps, not pushing dudes, not runnin' into cops, avoiding any kind of wanted level. I was tryin the unique jump on the bridge down south on the last island..well I needed a bike, so I went all the way from the north end auto to get one...drove it allllll the way down south to the bridge and what happens? I hit a couple of those big orange construction things, not the small cones on the ground but the big orange ones..anyway..I flew off the bike, went to get the bike back, and because the bike was in-between a few of these measly orange things, Niko refused to pick the bike up. How ridiculous is this? So much for realism..so I go to steal a car so I can move the orange things away from the bike therefore enabling me to be able to pick up the bike..well lo and behold, its like the game knew I was trying to get the bike..there's a cop car right behind the car I was going to steal..I didn't want warning level so I waited for the cop car to go out of site..stole a car..and lo and behold yet another coincidence..as I'm getting into the stolen car, a cop car is now suddenly on the opposing traffic side..this is RIDICULOUS..aint over yet though..I quickly tried to back the car into the orange cones to move them so I could pick the bike up..i was successful but guess what? one of the two cops in the cop car was actually standing in front of the bike protecting it...and since I had no weapons because I was ripped off on an earlier attempt at another unique jump, I basically could not get the bike..and all along I just wanted to simply do the unique stunt jump..things like this happens waaaaayy too often, and some of them are so unbelievably coincidental that I can't believe that the game wasn't programmed to try to stop you doing the smallest of things, even when not in a mission which was the case for me..this is a HUUUUGE reason why I don't like this game and if I were smart would never play it again, it's just that I have a need to get some achivements and I'm only two jumps away..grr not a GTA IV fan! I never felt this with any other GTA games..and what disappoints me the most is that I find it hard to believe the developers weren't watching the beta testers go through the same things and yet they didn't do nothing to fix it..If I were watching some of my beta testers test my game and such ridiculous stuff like this was happening to them, I would literally be embarassed as hell to see this happening..this is certainly not a fun game ..not like SA, VC was...and to think that they are actually going to charge me more money for DLC for stuff I feel should have been in there in the first place? Seems ridiculous...I personally am looking to see if Saints Row 2 capitalizes on this..hope they do..if i were them i'd be reading every post on here, cuz all in all I think most people are disappointed in the game, I know I am..definitely wouldn't have paid the $60 for this and $20 strategy guide had I known Edited June 3, 2008 by stygta

Specht
I can't see how any new games could have a greater awe-factor than Ocarina of Time. Back in a day where 3D was new and unexplored, I don't think there could have been a game which translated to 3D so well. Even Super Mario had it's fair share of problems but Zelda just seemed tailor made for the transition. Oh, and MGS of course. Anyway, those games are set in stone as classics. As for new titles, pretty much anything original which doesn't suck could be better than GTA4. What we need are less returning 20 year old franchises and more new ones to last another 20 years. Oh, and MGS4 of course...
Ph3L1z14n0
Nothing can beat Ocarina of Time Anything can beat Ocarina Of Time , even my less favorite game "Dead Rising". IV is on my top games list definitely, it's certainly in par with Bioshock, Half-Life 2 and Mass Effect.

derek3056
IV was great, but not the best game ever. 1. Bioshock 2. San Andreas 3. The Legend Of Zelda 4. GTA IV 5. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out
xrk
Only Streetfighter 2 championship edition and alpha 3. Gta 4 is just the "next gen" gta3 imo. Dunno what all the negative fuss is about, its definatly the best gta, but I suspect people expected some sort of virtual reality Gta with a parachute. knobby
but I suspect people expected some sort of virtual reality Gta with a parachute. What would you rather do 1. Parachute out of a chopper and enjoy the scenery on the way down? or... 2. Wash your car?
skarface1013
There are a lot of great games out there such as Bioshock, Mass Effect, COD4, and Halo just to name a few. This topic is largely based on opinions so whatever game fits your description, you will enjoy the most. In my opinion, GTA4 is the best game and the GTA Series is the best series of games. I like the whole city crime underworld and gangster theme as well as the sandbox open world best. Which is why GTA is my favorite game.
PhilipO43
I cannot comment on Wii games(Super Mario Galaxy is now rated higher then GTA:IV..go figure that one out), but GTA:IV is the best game i played this generation, as far as the 360/Ps3/pc are concerned. It's the best game i played since SA, which i rate about equal, since SA is more sandbox while IV is more 'open world/action/adventure'. And iv'e played the best games this generation(Bioshock/COD4/HL2-Orange Box/Halo3/Oblivion..ect) and IV is just in another league. I felt the same about GTA:SA in 04', it was the best game i played last generation, hands down. Actually since 00', it's been: -Deus Ex(pc-00') -Shenmue 1 (DC-00') -GTAIII -GTA:VC -GTA:SA -GTA:IV Actually if i had to score all the games since 00', i'd give IV and SA both a 97% (both are near perfect) and no other game above 93%. spaceeinstein
Can't please everyone with this new approach to making a GTA game. Would everyone be happier if every feature in real life be placed in the game? I'm hoping the next GTA will be on Blu ray only.
