roadieX
Ok. If you are having problems with MP disconnecting all the time and you are behind a router, it is because it needs to support FULL-CONE NAT. I ran this program: http://forum.emule-project.net/lofiversion...hp/t130035.html and it told me it was using PAT (port adress translation), a restricted cone NAT. Now I just need to find a router that is capable of FULL CONE..... If people who can connect w/no issues on MP and are using a router, the make/model no. would be greatly appreciated Cheers

BTW you can have PAT and Full-cone-nat and that is the ideal as it is not IP address based (you can have multiple internal IPs) But I can confirm that a one-to-one connection (full-cone-nat) does improve connections issues dramatically (see my thread about it below) Edited June 3, 2008 by tootricky
roadieX
We need a list of routers that do have full cone NAT...I'm not sure if NETGEAR support it. Just spoke to a sales rep at D-Link who recommended the DIR-655 for gaming..... then I find a thread about it being rubbish for the PS3 so much contradictory information. D-links are the worst of all routers.. generally the throughput is crap.... Never ever buy one. Look at a linksys router... they are well thought of. the problem with full cone nat though is that its one external IP for one internal IP. So don't expect to surf the web on your laptop if you are using your PS3 as it isn't going to happen. Edited June 3, 2008 by tootricky
Lit3
Apparantly I'm on Full-Cone NAT. But I still cannot get online? When it says my router is Full-Cone NAT, does that mean that it is capable of running Full-Cone, or that it is actually running it?
Wide_Gauge
Its not a router but the servers of rockstar. Somedays I can play no problem other days cant even log on. Never did anything to my router. roadieX
I've fixed my MP connection. I bought a Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 Wireless router. I put my PS3 into a DMZ et voila! No disconnect screen! and I can surf the net on any of my other PCs at the same time. The NAT program didnt even think I had a router/firewall enabled! If you have MP issues, buy one of these. Did the trick for me.

I didnt do anything and somedays I can play and others I cant connect to the game server. This past saturday,I think, nobody could log on in the afternoon, so what does that have to do with someones router?
