I love GTA IV to death, completed it two times and fell in love with NYC.

Then suddenly one day, I came across this game:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ar1txfpXj3c

It's called "True Crime NYC" and takes place in NYC, like in IV. Im sure many of you has heard about it before.

But is it worth buying, and is the story good? (I only buy games with good storylines, like the GTA's)

Thanks.

let me give u an advice, the gamplay is terrible.

if u really want to get into it, try the PC version. It's the best version for this game.

grief reaper

If it's anything like streets of LA then it will be bad. Played streets of LA one day and I drove my car through some wooded area with lots of tree's. All of a sudden the trees were floating off the ground. The frame rate dropped and my car dissapeared. Then it crashed, I took that turd game back and traded it for GTA 3 again.

Well, i've played it, played it a while ago.

True Crime NY had a map VERY similar to NYC.

It'll take a little bitty to get used to the handling and stuff, the story is alright, not too bad, u went crazy and killed a whole bunch of people coz they did sumthin to ur father, anyways, you get a break, You get to be a cop etc..

Anyways, interesting story, not as funny as gta.

I'd say give it a rent, if you like it, buy it, its probably pretty cheap now.

I have it on PC.

it was a decent game.

ran very choppy on my old computer which was supposed to run it fine.

Controls are a bit fuzzy, driving is weird. you can take taxis and also the subway if im not wrong. enter almost any building (but all interiors are repetitive)

you basically have a few story lines (caes) on which you can work. with game progress you gain more experience and become a "detective". if you kill/maim/harrass innocent "peds" when you're a detective, you're demoted to be a simple cop on the street and you're required to take care of small crimes.

game isn't that bad but I just lost interest in it.

it did NYC very well though from what I remember. all landmarks are in, and the city is immense in terms of size.

re-installing it now to see how it works on my computer nowadays.

Short answer : no .

Long answer : this game is not worth a second of your life.Run away from it as far as you can.

I thought it was good. I had it for the PS2 and enjoyed it. You can either take the good cop or bad cop route. Gun storage in your trunk. It was a fairly exceptional replica of NYC considering the PS2 limitations. The radio selection was decent, although choosing which song to listen too was a pain as it came on randomly.

It's certainly not a mark on IV, so don't get it with high expectations, but enjoy it for what it was, a decent PS2 game for it's time.

ok - update.

installed it and played it for a while. it's not bad

but the game is running like it's on Fast Forward for me. everything runs really fast.

like if you try playing a really old game on a new computer.

what a crock of sh*t...

The map in TC:NYC is nearly exact to New York, more than GTAIV, however, theres bugs, alot of bugs...

Driving isnt great and the same goes for the AI.

But i'm actually playing it at the moment and its a good enough experience, especially for those gamers who love to be a cop and get promoted etc.

wer is infernus?

DON'T GET IT. I spent some of my hard-earned money on that steaming pile of bullcrap only to end up with dodgy controls, weak story, ugly characters and gawd-awful steering. Only thing I liked in that game was the fact that you can store weapons in the trunk. A FEATURE GTA IV PROMISED, MIGHT I ADD.

EDIT: @ geelock817 - Kabayan!

Mr.Ruthless

It's decent, but the controls and car physics are terrible. The game is too easy. There are no choices to continue the story or replay the mission like in Streets of LA.

The map is great and you can customize your character, but there are tons of bugs.

Sunrise Driver

It's not very good game but it's also not a bad one.

I advise you to listen the OST of TCNYC. It's magnificient!

Algonquin Assassin

I thought it was a good game actually. Alot better than LA. I lost all faith in LA when there were Dragons, monsters or whatever else . Up until that point I enjoyed the game.

I mean it's no GTA, and certainly can't touch GTA IV, but if you look at it without yout GTA fanboy cap on, it's not that bad.

I "acquired" this game to get a feel of the New York atmosphere, and let me tell you now that this game does NOT deliver.

The graphics are terrible, the gameplay is terrible, literally every aspect of this game is bad. Stay far the f*ck away from this.

It is by far. One of the worst games I have ever played in a long time.
