[GTA Man]cycon77foamy[GTA Man]
Guitar Hero: Metallica Confirmed for Q1 2009 Written Monday, June 02, 2008 by Dan Webb It seems that the cash cow that is Activision just can't stop churning out all these new Guitar Hero titles. Gamespot reported that in one of Activision's recent SEC filings, the company mentioned that they intend to release Guitar Hero: Metallica in the 1st quarter of 2009. The report stated that "In fiscal 2009, we plan to publish Guitar Hero: On Tour for the NDS; Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, Guitar Hero: Metallica, and Guitar Hero IV across multiple platforms". So if Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero: World Tour didn't satisfy your musical gaming needs, then surely Guitar Hero: Metallica will. Great news for Metallica fans worldwide but bad news for the wallet. I can't quite shake the feeling that the frequency of these Guitar Hero titles is seriously going to affect the quality and improvements of the new titles. Similar engine with new songs? Seems like a bit of a cash in to me. Link Thats some awesome news. Probably rent it like ill porb rent Aerosmith.
AlianAnt
Welp, if there was anybody thinking that Metallica didn't sell out, this will probably crush those thoughts, much like the Hammer of Justice. I miss old Metallica. I miss back when they played Master of Puppets in its entirety. I miss the days when they didn't make music videos. I miss the days when they'd never do sh*t like this. Maybe after Cliff died they thought it'd be ok to stuff their wallets a bit more? I mean, I'm not bashing them for taking money. But these were the guys telling everyone to to stick it to the man throughout the 80's. I guess I just feel betrayed by them slapping their name on a Guitar Hero game. But, then again, I'll probably buy it, because my need for pre-Load Metallica knows no bounds. Ten bucks says they'll put St. Anger on there just to piss me off. Metal up your ass! Isn't guitar hero one of those games that don't NEED a new engine for every sequel that comes out. You know, I always thought it was about the quality of the music. I guess that's why I was one of the few who loved rock the 80's. No dough this post will get questions and and maybe even some fighting.

I guess they could make the virtual band look a bit more realistic? I have a feeling sometime in the future you'll be able to select and download songs instead of buying the game. Vanilla Shake
I can see a trend setting here. I predict that in the future we'll be met with expansion games like Guitar Hero: Punk, Guitar Hero: Grunge, Guitar Hero: Metal, etc. But hey, if they choose good songs for them, I won't complain. I'm still not going to be buying the Aerosmith and Metallica add-ons though. Maybe I'll check out IV if they've got some good songs. Kaj.
Like, I said a few posts ago, welcome to Activision, guys. Remember Tony Hawk? How those games were oh-so-f*cking-awesome? Back before they realized that they could make more money by releasing a new version every year or two as long as there was a little bit of a difference? I saw that start with GH3, and the songs on there that weren't really fun songs to play, but were popular with the kiddies. I'm really not expecting much from GH4, and with the announcement of this title along with GH Aerosmith, I think I'll just stick with Rock Band. Since, you know, the developers of that game actually know a thing or two about music and not just pop-culture.

Since, you know, the developers of that game actually know a thing or two about music and not just pop-culture. I beg to differ when it comes to Harmonix's choice of music. I had 500 times more fun with GH3 than GH2, and looking at Rock Band's setlist compared to GH3's, it makes me sick. Welcome to the Jungle > Message in a Bottle. Raining Blood > Rock This Town. The tracks in GH3 are way more rock than Harmnoix's 'something for everyone' crap. I actually play guitar. I mean, for real. I learned to play And Justice For All the other night; I think Activision nailed what its like to play a guitar much better than Harmonix's bullsh*t rip-you-off hammer-on system where the window to hammer-on a note is actually shorter than just strumming it. But the main point you were trying to make still stands. All these other GH games are going to take away from the whole, and not just because this could all be awesome DLC for GHWT (or IV, whatever you wanna call it). Heres to what could have been the most rape DLC package of all time.... Metal up your ass!
darthYENIK
Harmonix's bullsh*t rip-you-off hammer-on system where the window to hammer-on a note is actually shorter than just strumming it. Yeah, the more and more I learn to play real guitar, the more and more I realize hammer-ons aren't as hard as Harmonix makes them out to be. Starion
Holy f*cking crap! I actually am amazed, I'm a big fan of Metallica's older songs. Especially the songs from The Black Album. Unforgiven on expert? wowwwss. I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait! mod it with Nitrous Oxide and chassis dyno.

Yeah, the more and more I learn to play real guitar, the more and more I realize hammer-ons aren't as hard as Harmonix makes them out to be. But here's the main problem with that argument. You're comparing playing a guitar to a video game. If the hammer-ons in the game were as easy as they are in real life, that wouldn't be much of a challenge, now would it? Playing GH2 hammer-ons compared to GH3 hammer-ons, I didn't really like how easy it was to do them in GH3. You don't feel like you really nailed the solo when it's that easy. darthYENIK
That's completely true. If Guitar Hero were a simulation, I'd just stick with my real guitar.
Lt. Dan
Well, it's comign out after GH4, so it'll be nothing like GH3 or GH:Aerosmith. It'll have drums and vox most likely. This will be awesome. Hopefully Fade to Black will be in there.
Statutory Ray
Harmonix's bullsh*t rip-you-off hammer-on system where the window to hammer-on a note is actually shorter than just strumming it. Yeah, the more and more I learn to play real guitar, the more and more I realize hammer-ons aren't as hard as Harmonix makes them out to be. Um, hammer-ons are simply that, hammering on. It's not simpler either way. If anything Guitar Hero goes easier on you by allowing you to strum instead of hammer on, which produces a completely different sound on a real guitar. You're complaining about the rhythm section of a rhythm game. The only reason hammer-ons are "more difficult" in Guitar Hero is because you're stuck to a certain rhythm, one that is controlled by a computer, therefore it's based on perfect numbers, whereas human hearing and senses aren't. They have to code in the padding, which helps, but doesn't make it perfect. If you were playing real guitar in time to a track, I bet nailing those hammer-ons would be harder than playing them to yourself and thinking "wow, that sounds right!" Gouveia
I saw it and I "Holy f*ck'd". But seriously, Guitar Hero IV will have drums. Man, it's Guitar Hero, not Rock Band.
Vercetti21
I have a feeling sometime in the future you'll be able to select and download songs instead of buying the game. Probably not, considering it means less money for Activision. I too think the GH series is going overboard. 2 games being churned out a year, the addition of drums and vocals, etc. It's just all about the money, isn't it? Not about the quality of the game, room for improvements, or staying true to the guitar series? Same as Aerosmith, I doubt I'll be getting this one. Digital Murders
I'm just going to stick to buying the main titles, not this side crap that they seem to be churning out. Rock Band>Guitar Hero

Gtapoptart
This is going to be great. I still think they should have a "Guitar Hero: Slayer" that would be f*cking awesome. They've only included one Slayer song on the entire series, not even DLC, which really pisses me off. GH 4 will be pretty awesome though. At least they have some S.O.A.D. =). Digital Murders
So, since this is coming out after World Tour, will there be a vocal track to sing to? AlianAnt
How about "LETS SEE SOME ACTION!" or "OY OY OY OY OY!"? Wonder how the faceplate will look, or if they'll do some cool black explorer (not the same model from GH2, I hope) for GH: Metallica? That'd be cool as hell. Metal up your ass! Wonder how the faceplate will look, or if they'll do some cool black explorer (not the same model from GH2, I hope) for GH: Metallica? That'd be cool as hell. Actually I think GH: Aerosmith had a "custom" guitar when in actual fact it was the GH3 controller with an Aerosmith faceplate. So just need to buy the game as ive got the GH3 gitar. Dont like Aerosmith so I didnt get that one! Also what songs are you looking forward to playing? Mine: ...And Justice For All Orion Welcome Home (Sanitarium) Master of Puppets Disposable Heroes Harvester of Sorrow Edited August 27, 2008 by Hart
AlianAnt
Yeah, I know about the Les Paul with Areosmith faceplate, but I wonder if they'll do something bigger, considering how relatively well GH: Areosmith if doing. Still betting on that (hopefully better) Explorer if they do do anything bigger than a faceplate. As for most wanted songs, I'll exclude ...And Justice For All and Blackened, since they were on Rock Band DLC: Battery Welcome Home (Sanitarium) Master of Puppets Seek and Destroy Eye of the Beholder Dyers Eve Fuel Wonder how much will actually be Metallica, seeing as Areosmith had a lot more of other bands than I thought it would have. Maybe Megadeth? But that would be awesome. EDIT: Will the songs like Enter Sandman and the DLC from RB still be on this? AlianAnt
Chances are that, yes, they will be. RB isn't done by Activision/Neversoft, and they put the same damn songs in both games up the anus. I'd bet on seeing Ride the Lightning, Blackened, Enter Sandman, and And Justice For All on GH: Metallica. Metal up your ass!
