Baltimorean
I don't have a problem with people going back to other games (Hell, I play VC just as much as IV) but it really bothers me when people go into the forums and go "OMG GTA FOR SUX GO PLY SAN AN MY OPINUN IS SUPERIUR!!!111!!!" and basically bitch about trivial things like gloves. Seriously. Someone likes IV, they don't have to be a fanboy. Someone likes SA, FINE, they don't have to be a fanboy, but I digress. With that out of the way, GTA IV still has many things left to do for me after I've done the storyline. Maybe thats because I skipped a f*ckload of stuff. (Brucie, Assassin, Pigeons) However, nothing beats a good ol' hospital massacre. Especially if you're armed to the teeth.
supernova_goes_pop
I still find it overwheming and I've had it since midnight launch. VC had people saying III was better. SA had people saying VC was better. It really is an endless cycle of fanboys. I really f&cking hate that term btw. Anyway, why is it so difficult to accept all the games in the series for what they are? None of the titles are supposed to "upstage" the others. Each game is different in its own way. God. SaintJimmy
Well who still thinks this game is overwhelming a month and a week after release? Well i sure do think its overwhelming still, all the little detail they put into the game . Will you ever be able to play San Andreas for at least an hour again? Or just turn it on and play for like 2 minutes and be like this is sh*t. I never even had thought about playing SA again till now but no i won't. I was already UNDERwhelmed about 10 minutes into the game and after I finally beat it was already sick of it. I could put in San Andreas and play it for probably another 5 years, so could a sh*tload of other people. jeez, you really dont like IV at all do you. irishjake427
I feel like either I got overwhelmingly better at gaming in the past years since SA, or GTA got alot easier? I admit in the first week, and following couple weeks, I felt as if there would be months of gaming. But I am finding that there is not as much replay. Do in part to past experience with GTA, (once youve lit a cop on fire then gunned his flaming corpse off of a bridge youve kind of been there done that), and the lack of content. But to be fair I would take the lack of content any day, if it meant that it made the game look as visually stunning as it does.. Im just sad that I really have found, and done, almost everything the game has to offer, and has hidden within it, after just a month of video game addiction.. COD4 had me for almost 6 months before my girlfriend pulled out of its grasp, I had hoped a game that grossed half a billion would do the same but GTA let me down just a little.. Again only a little bit. In all actuallity it is a complete work of art, and the best video game experience I have ever had to date..

tarquin biscuitbarrel
Top Fanboy quotes1. Living, breathing city 2. It's more realistic that way 3. It's technically impossible, the engine is pushed to the limit 4. Best story EVAH!!! 5. If you don't like it, gtfo and play *insert similar game here* 6. First attempt at new engine/Vanilla GTA. 7. Niko wouldn't do/say/use something like that. 1. more fun 2. more fun 3. they didn't need to make IV any better, if you don't rate it now then you never will. 4. best story ever for an open world game = true 5. true - you're on the IV fan forums, not the IV hater forums 6. same as #3 7. true P.S. san andreas was a great game, i finished it a few times... then i lent it to a friend and haven't seen it since (almost 4 years ago). i don't miss it. Catalinaslover
I Love IV The improvements are highly welcome, sound-graphics-physics. The details, the animations and the design ideas all great. It could also been abit better as a game, Sa was running on 6 year old engine? It offerd alot gameplay freedom tho the graphics were outdated, Iv got some nice new ideas but as it is atm, witout dlc, its too kinda empty with stuff to do. All in all, for doing those concept ideas in IV.in my book its still the best game ever as interactive experience, not gameplaywise.
SLUGFly
I loved this game but the story was... I'm not even sure what the story was about... Was it about eliminating Bulgarin? Getting revenge on Darko? Helping Roman? Getting rich on the American Dream? Getting squared with **inner-spoiler** Dimitri? The story had no cohesion. In San Andreas you return to bury your mother, then you discover that hard drugs are destroying the neighborhood you grew up in... people very close to you turn out to be traitors and one even ends up being responsible for the murder of your mother... and then in a grand climax you take out your treacherous once-friend and the dirty cop who picked you up the moment you landed in San Andreas. Cohesion. 4 is fantastic. They've introduced some great new elements and the mechanics are bang on... but it seems like they've eliminated so many things that were already proven to work on previous games, just so it could be prettier (and that it is... a fine dressed whore). Not much can overcome my bitterness at Rockstar needing the money badly enough to sell exclusive content to Microsoft, forcing PS3 owners to either suck it up and do without or buy an XBox. I decided to suck it up, flipped the bird to MS and bought a PS3 in spite of the exclusive content. R* will NOT sell ME to Microsoft like some sharable cash-lactating plaything. Forde
I just love all the fine little details, and I still think "Wow this game is f***ing awesome". I would probably play SA for about 10 minutes, then realise how much better GTA IV actually is. Even before GTA IV came out, I struggled to play SA. Yeah it was great 4 years ago, but I think it's somewhat overrated now. It feels very outdated. GTA IV will be overrated too, four years from now. You sir get a for liking rammstein. They're all wondeful games and i now intend to play them all in a row starting with Gta3

Yes it does have cohesion, the problem is that you weren't paying attention, Niko goes to Liberty City to find Florian Cravic, one of the two men believed to have betrayed him, in doing so, he meets peculiar characters who help him make his way into the US and helping him find Florian or Darko, the thing is, that all of this decisions, all of the people he works with reminds him of the horrors he lived back in the war, because he has to become someone he didn't want to in the first place, that's where one of the core elements, choosing to kill or not some characters comes into play. Another example of how great the story is, is the characterization of Niko, his main weakness is himself, he has gone so deep into the past, has become so bitter and angry, that he often blames himself for being the one who does these horrible things to live, as if somehow he couldn't change it, whereas Roman comes as the other side of the coin, Niko's cousin is absurdly optimistic, always looks into the future and never ever gives up. Only the amount of symbolism in IV is amazing in terms of story!, every character you meet has an opposite, every one, Playboy X and Dwayne, Francis and Derrick, Dimitri and Faustin, and the main catalist in every single character is betrayal, what i mean is that this game is the biggest epic of betrayal! Now the SA story was great, it was the best "gangsta story" EVER created, but the problem is that it's a "gangsta story", SA's story is echo from every rap song and movie from the 90's, it's too derivative. GTAfanatical
the game isnt that amazinglol just has a few graphics/physics upgrades which i must add arent really that great to current standards of next gen graphics and this forum seems to take graphics and animations over gameplay which is just plain wrong
Ph3L1z14n0
and this forum seems to take graphics and animations over gameplay which is just plain wrong So the most amazing shootouts ever in a game, new cover system, gun sounds, better driving and different side missions and random ped missions don't count as gameplay. --Vega--
and this forum seems to take graphics and animations over gameplay which is just plain wrong Exactly. Most of the people that defend IV everytime somebody says something bad about it just mentions the good graphics or new physics of the game, not the actual missions, replay value, ect. floof
Will you ever be able to play San Andreas for at least an hour again? Or just turn it on and play for like 2 minutes and be like this is sh*t. It is sad that this is happening to me, mainly because of the euophina (or however they spell it) in GTA IV. I am praying each night (not really only acationally) that the next new GTA will be a modern San Andreas with the old SA features+ all the new IV ones on a modern day setting in the summer. But yeah there is so much to do in IV that blows my mind(ew ). Especially animation, r* has really got that down, now they will just need more detailed models.
