Cluster
kay so lets think about this alittle. After several minutes of gearing up or a big mission or game in mp. (Health, weps. And armor.) You steal a car. Bingo its almost out of gas! 2 choices pop up...steal another or filler up, right? Well needless to say the best bet is to fill up. The odds of you grabing another car with a full tank is low and your gunna need a full tank, cause lets face it the speed your gunna travel will eat that gas right up when you get to running from the cops. Etc etc etc. So you lay it down and the mission starts to get harry. Your running from cops and your chasing another car when...BAM! Side swiped by a dumb ass AI driver...now the car won't start. You can do a few things hear to start her back up but what's the point? After all the bs to get the gas in the first place...the time was completely wasted, cause the guys you were chasing get away. * I think ill pass on the gas. FUTUREWEAPONS
Not a good idea, think about the fuel consumption of different vehicle types and the faster you drive the more fuel you use ok......... Now think about how quickly 1hr Liberty City time passes in relation to real world time, an hour passes in LC in a matter of minutes..... I do NOT want to be filling up my Banshee or any vehicle for that matter every 10-20 minutes IRL - just because I have been driving at full acceleration across islands - sheez people wouldn't pay for gas anyway, they'd just steal another car. This would become a chore within the first 2 hours max.
holyhal2
I personally think it's a good idea, it adds that touch of realism and in a way strategy. By having to have gas in your tank all the time it would mean you would have to a little more careful how you drive, you wouldn't want to wreck your car on a time sensitive mission, because the next car you jack might have even less gas. Or you might not have enough time to refill yuor tank. It's also another way to earn a wanted level, by getting gas then running off without paying. But I wonder how many of you who think that filling up your tank is not a good idea, also think that working out and having to eat constantly other than to refill your health is a good idea. I mean those two elements have absoulutly nothing to do with how you complete the game or the story in general. Having to stop what I was doing whether I was about to start a mission or just goofing aroud, to go get something to eat or workout beacuse I was suddenly turning into a weakling after 3 game days, got real annoying. (Using US units here) Assume you get average gas mileage... say 15 miles per gallon. Typically a car has 1 gallon of gas when the gas light comes on. Typically people don't leave their car that low on gas. So even if you had to worry about it, chances are you wouldn't be running out of gas unless you were on a mission that was really long... and I'd be surprised if I put anywhere near 15-20 miles on a single car. The only time I see this being an issue is if you constantly use the cars from your safehouse and return them when you're done. While we're at it can you imagine Kiki or Carmen: "Niko! I thought you were going to fill up before I borrowed your car!"
doober
I think its immaterial. Even half a gas tank can last you a few days depending on how you're driving. I don't know about y'all, but I'm swapping my cars at least once a day. So the gas feature would only REALLY matter if you lost the lotto and jacked a car that was running on empty in the first place. Besides... it would just remind me of gas prices in reality and nullify my escape from reality.
XxLDCxX
I thought of this idea to...i wish they would have added it, but it would be better if you could turn it off in the options screen if you wanted to.
