MADISONSQUARE
Well first off I have to say the ending was ... sad compared to the past GTA's. Usually it's a happy "everything is good now" ending. But here Niko will have a lose lose situation no matter what decision he makes. But I don't get why it was eithehr Dimitri or Pegorino. I mean come on? Dimitri betrayed you. Sure. And he kidnapped Roman but he shouldn't be the guy. Pegorino didn't even show up until near the end of the game. Why didn't the last mission base on Darko Brevic? The SPECIAL Somone? During my play of GTA I always thought of killing or meeting that Special Someone at the end of the game because Niko talks about it in the trailer and talks about it so much during the game. And it is the reason he came to Liberty... But all you do with this Special Someone is either Kill him or let him live and then the story goes on. It doesn't even feel like it you know? When you kill him, he obviously doesn't show up again, but when you leave him its still the same. GTA was really fun and I think it deserved the 10/10 but I was just hoping for a different ending. Now Im looking to complete it 100%. I've never done that with the past GTA's. And Ill be playing online more! Add me if you want. Oh and also, can anyone tell me what happens if you take the deal instead of the revenge? Because I sure did take the revenge on that rat. See you in Liberty City. If you choose the deal Roman gets killed instead of Kate.
Metalhead4
Revenge = best. I was glad Kate died, she was good for nothing anyways and I don't know what Niko saw in her. I played through the second time and when Roman died I was pissed. It is also so hard not to kill Darko the second time through too because the execution was so badass, I had to force myself to let him live. blitsbebop
Lol I know what you mean but the story was a "shocker" I was shocked to find out that both the guys Niko was lookin for turned out to be "gay" and a "retarded crack-head". I thought the guy Niko was lookin for was goin to be some bad-ass russian hit-man that is the head of some russian mob that were gettin rich from killings and usein woman as sex-slaves. I was shocked and said to myself "Niko came all this way to look for a crack-head"...I let him out because it was a joke and killing him was pointless. Algonquin Assassin
It's almost as if "That special someone" was used to through the player off track. I gotta admit I was quite shocked Pegorino played such an important part at the end. I never had any idea that he was going to do what he done. As much as I would've liked to confront Bulgarin, I think it would've been too predictable. Darko's role in the game was so small. It actual feels like Niko's motivation changed slightly after Dimitri stabbed him in the back. I can't believe Bulgarin just vanishes into thin air, without a trace. It states on the LCPD databse that he died. I wonder how? Usually GTA ends with everything being sorted, but Bulgarin's mysterious disappearence leads me to believe that there's more to the story. spiffitz
The Kate thing was a screwed up way of trying to pin emotions onto the player. I never took her out and ignored most of her phone calls, yet the game's story tells me that I should feel sad about losing her. As it was, the only real time you get to know her is during a date. Maybe if a few more missions actually revolved around her I'd care more? Heck I know more than I need to about Brucie, Bernie, Dwayne, etc. yet I don't think I can describe to anyone who this Kate person was other than someone who's phone calls I ignored. <ring> Packie: Dude you should take my sister out, she's ab-- <Hang up>

That was a problem I had with most of this story. It's like I knew I was supposed to like Kate, but I never cared more about her than any of the others. And for some reason I was supposed to like Brucie, but as I played the story I always hoped he would end up like Manny

Blesk
I thought the ending was brilliant. It was realistic in a way, it showed you Niko is just a small piece of a larger scheme. He wasn't happy, he couldn't of been happy, nothing worked, nothing would have worked. It doesn't end on closure, because Niko's life wouldn't have closure until he stopped being a criminal. It was a realistic ending I thought, where the other GTA's have more of the 'hollywood ending'.
PHARKIN CHERKOV
I thought the ending was perfect though Jimmy Pegorino, mob boss and all aiming for Niko with an AK from the backseat of a sedan seemed a bit unrealistic. The Bulgarin strand was left untouched because not everything has closure, he'll probably the main antagonist in the DLC though.
