That Special Someone - mission not kicked in

Hi All

 

I've finished all the missions. I've looked in the official guide and it tells me that after Luquidize the Assets John Gravelli will be in touch when Darko is finally in the country. I've been playing for hours now and still no sign of any call.

 

I have done all the prerequisite missions. While it's fun doing other stuff I've been playing for hours and still nothing.

 

The mission I did after that are Diamonds are a girls best friend, which is what is saved. When I tear the place up and get in hospital I get a call form UL Paper telling me I should lay low. I'm 67.70% of the way through.

 

Is it waiting for me to reach a certain % or something?

 

Anyone got any ideas?

I am in the exact same boat man.. I just run around endlessly doing the random friend missions and stevie missions... but no more story development happens.

 

UL mission progress: 50%

Roman progress 73.33%

The UL guy should call you and tell you he flew you in a special someone.

Double and triple check that there isnt any missions on the map, sometimes the icons can blend in and you miss them.

It kicked in for me after Bernies missions.

Everyone is at 100% mission complete status except for UL paper and Roman. So... I'm pretty sure there's no one left.

 

I've also gone to the last known locations of pretty much every mission-start to look for the yellow arrows... nothing.

 

I've taken Roman on like 5 dates and I constantly try to call UL paper. I have also frequently checked my emails...

 

Maybe it's a glitch?

sounds like a glitch.

 

i've finished the story mode a second time now and i've never seen this glitch though. when i miss an important phone call after falling over or accidentally hanging up - they just call back in a minute or two.

One thing that I've done that might not be normal.. I've been ignoring my friends calls for the most part during the game and concentrating on the story only.

 

I figured once I was finished the story line, I'd have still have alot of missions to do with the friends.

 

So... no one calls me anymore, except for Roman once in a while.

i played through, and I seem to remember it took a couple in-game days for the call to come in. Be patient, young pattawan.

heh heh... I also saved the game about 5 times in a row to pass the time, also tried spraying cars over and over to pass even more time.. it's been an ingame week, at least.

In the same boat as well. All I need to do now is that damn "Tunnel of Death" mission though.

I think I had the same problem after this mission. Try calling Gravelli, and that should start the conversation about Darko.

I'm no expert but If you have still had no joy It might be worth dropping an email to the tech gods at rockstar? They might have a technical help number or atleast an email you could drop your question to.

 

I've completed the story but somehow I am only on about 57% or something? =p

maybe a long time ago, you accepted a car deleivery mission. for the UL paper one, you MUST go to the Perseus clothes store in Algonquin and change into a suit and tie and black shiny shoes. Then either somebody calls you or something OR check ALL your messages and then click X and then call. Sometimes, they will answer and tell you to do something. OR check your E-Mails at the Internet Cafe.

im in the same boat, ive dated kate to 100% and gotten everyone to 100% like. 77% for romans missions, 33% for gravelli and 63ish for francis. i know from reading help and walkthroughs that there are a couple more missions left but i have no markers on the map and ive gone to all of the start points and no arrows.

my last complete mission was pest control.

furthermore when ever i start a big shootout with cops and die, ul paper calls going off about keeping my head down.

hmm.. UL did call me once saying to keep my head down or something... maybe I need to stay out of trouble for a while in-game... I always just run and jack a cop car whenever I get the chance.

 

I should try to avoid getting any wanted stars for a while, see if he calls me then.

Sorry to bump this up, I Googled the problem today as I was stuck on it and found this thread.

 

Anyway, I accidentally realised why U.L. Paper wasn't calling when looking for the rest of the random characters; you have to have met Bernie on Pier 45 in Fishmarket South. You may remember that Bernie asked to meet you there, but if you carried on with the missions instead (or just forgot to meet him, like I did) the Bernie icon on the map disappears after a while. So although it's not marked on the map, the yellow arrow at the front of the pier (by the river) is still there. Walk over to the arrow, do the Bernie mission and the U.L. Paper will call! Thanks to that, I'm finally on my way to completing it! If you've done the Bernie mission, however, then I have no idea what's wrong, but I guess that's a lot of people's problem.

 

Hope that helps anyone who's still stuck, but apologies if this has been solved in another thread.

If Bernie's icon is still at his apartment you have to go there first and complete his first two missions, to unlock his third down at the pier.

Here is Pier 45 where the Bernie Boat Mission called "Buoys Ahoy" starts (the one mission you might have missed, which causes that ULPaper Guy not to call you).

I'm in the same "boat". I wait about the ULP guy to call, but still nothing, about that special someone, I have completed every single other mission, such as buoys ahoy and the random characters. I ain't sure to call this a glitch, because it occurs when you dusturb a phone call. For example: you drive a comet with 100mp/h, ULP calls you. You are about to answer him, but you crash and Niko is ejected by the front window. Cell Phone disappears and ULP won't call again. Your whole story is screwed. If you want to complete it you have to do it all over again. The same situation can occur with missions like: Uncle Vlad (after completing Ivan The Terrible Niko will call Vlad, but if he don't this happens) and Undertaker(where Packie calls you to bury his brother). In my opinion R* haven't tried testing this situation.

For those of you that have this issue, make sure that you complete some of the activities that do not start as story missions (with letters on map) but are connected to the story, such as the  "French Tom" date activity because after you complete that it unlocks a new letter "B" story mission, and also the "Lawyer Interview" activity as that unlocks new "F" story missions, and also the activity where you have to search for a woman that owns a pink car for test drive, as it unlocks some other activity and also new story mission "G"
